Did Nastradomus really predict future events such as, Hitler, Napolion Bonapart, the kenedy assasinations, and many other events in history? If so how should he be looked upon? Does this make him a prophet?

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Nostradamus would fit this category, as he wasn't a prophet of God, but of himself. So the bible warns us not to follow them, even if thier prophecies come true.

Actually, most of His so called prophecies or predictions were calculated mathmatically or atrologically. Many of his predictions were published after the event had already transpired.

Prophecies strangely accomplished- It is not meant that there is anything more than an accidental coincdence between the prophecies of Nostradamus and the events by whichthey have been ostensibly verified. The verification is ascribed to no inspiration, to no natural or supernatural endowments, to no astrology, to no other science or art, but to thatof Nostradamus's renown-to luck ( Diva Fortuna).

taken from McClintock and Strong's Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

He was a deceiver, his predictions very obscure and I could not find any record that he made any positive reference to Jesus the Christ.

You can also tell if someone should be called a prophet by there fruit where is the glory to God?

Also I think Nostradomis was / is a tool of satan to have people look elsewhere for the answers and not go to God.

My pastor says their are no more prphets , they have done what was to be done. Now all their prophecies are coming true , so I to would say Nostrodamis was a false profhet , and not of God.

greyfeather, do you off hand know what scriptures your pastor bases that there are no more prophets.

Ephesians 4:11-13
11*He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12*Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, 13*until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.

Chad he dosen't explain very many things , he just told us that the prophets in the OT/and NT were the last. He said they were given instruction and were inspiered by God to tell of the thngs that have alredy come to pass and things that will come to pass. Is this not true. ? I listen , but I am a woman so I do not ask questions I rely on him to tell us things we ned to know.

Actually, that was jiggy that asked you the question lol :)

I listen , but I am a woman so I do not ask questions I rely on him to tell us things we ned to know.

May I ask why you do not ask question just because your a woman? Just curious, nothing tricky about the question at all.

God bless sister

Greyfeather, I was wondering too why you don't ask questions. I am a woman and I'm always asking questions, sometimes I think no one asks more questions than I do. :embarasse It's one way of learning, and the Holy Spirit speaks to us too.

Im sorry I don't know why I typed Chad. To anserw you and jiggyfly . The reason I do not ask questions is because my pastor is always referenceing from the Bible that women are to be silent and if they have questions they are to ask their husbands. I have to admit I think that women as well as men should be able to ask , but I do not like to make waves , so I just read my Bible ask God to help me understand and thats how I work that out. I have no husband to ask he died. None of the women in my church ever ask questions. It's one of the reasons I have jioned this and and another forum , but I realy don't know where to go to ask questions and I guess I am a little nervous to ask. I read alot on here and I have found anserws to some of my questions already in some of the posts. Its truly a good place and I am glad I am here.

greyfeather, you don't need to feel nervous asking questions here. As you have said, you have learned from other people asking questions. The same can happen the other way round. You may just ask a question someone else is scared to ask.

Could it be that God gifted Nastradomas with special powers, but he used them for his own reasons not Gods purpose?

No, just a false prophet (read about him more carefully to understand). Read the Bible first to see all the warnings about false prophets.

This guy was a real 'fruitloop'! :omg:

The Word of God states that 'wisdom
' has two sources.

Which one was Nostraldamus
working under?

James 3 :15: This wisdom descendeth
not from above, but is earthly,
sensual, devilish.

Jas:3:16: For where envying and
strife is, there is confusion and every
evil work.

James 3:17: But the wisdom that is
from above is first pure, then
peaceable, gentle, and easy to be
intreated, full of mercy and good
fruits, without partiality, and without
hypocrisy.

James :3:18: And the fruit of
righteousness is sown in peace of
them that make peace.

There's a well known book on him
titled ' The Eyes of Nostraldamus'.
and a movie.

He 'received' his so-called 'visions'
of the future and some of his time
by an occultic practice similar to
'Mirror Gazing'!

[Mick Jagger does this, looks in a
mirror at times and does not 'see'
his reflection! Sounds like a vampire!]

A practitioner would 'gaze' while
uttering a 'chant', usually
'backwards' into a dish or a pot
of water. He would suddenly 'see'
the water troubled and 'swirling'
'counter-clockwise'!

Then suddenly a vision would
appear foretelling the future!

Mirror gazing and water reflection
is called in 'occultic' circles now,
of 'those in the know', 'Alice in the
looking glass'! Taken from a
children's book. 'Alice in Wonderland'.

He wrote in a literary style called,
'quatrains' -def. A stanza of four lines.

These are so 'abstract' and loosely
put together, that you could with a
little imagination make 'anything'
prophetic seem to fit!!

A 'true' prophet of God 'always'
brought 'new'revelation from the
'mouth' of JEHOVAH to bring to His
people or heathens.

Was Nostraldamus a true prophet
of God?......... Nope!!

Deut.13:2: And the sign or the
wonder come to pass, whereof
he spake unto thee, saying, Let us
go after other gods, which thou hast
not known, and let us serve them;

Deut.13:3: Thou shalt not hearken
unto the words of that prophet, or
that dreamer of dreams: for the
LORD your God proveth you, to know
whether ye love the LORD your God
with all your heart and with all
your soul.

These 'folks' will 'lead' you away
from serving the One and True God!
John17:3;1Thess.1:9;1John5:20.

A false prophet is on Channel 14 and
goes unchallenged by the Word of God!
1Cor.14:29-33.

He has 'blasphemed' Christ's Name on
occasion and linked 'sin' with 'Him'
also along with 'lying signs and
wonders'! Mark 9:39.

God's Word is all the revelation we will
ever need! 2Tim. 3:16

Thank God He has a way of dealing
with these 'people'!

2Tim. 3:9: But they shall proceed no
further: for their folly shall be manifest
unto all men, as theirs also was.

God Bless,

Your brother in Christ,
Joe

Ok I read a scripture that jiggyfly had suggested to me. As I see it Nastrodamis could not have been given the gift of prohefecy , because when that gift is given its for a specific reasons. He never used his so call prophetic visons to perfect the saints, for the work of in the ministry, or for edifing of Christ. So he was a false profhet.

Amen greyfeather! That is Holy Ghost revelation. You go girl!

Sorry, but after reading this I think there is still questions in some people's minds. Yes, nostradamus was a prophet and he did make predictions about Napoleon and Hitler although he calls them the anti-christs and he also names a third one which will have a very short reign by his name. If the third one comes true he would have indeed predicted the future no matter how much people quarrel about the interpretations.

He did have powers, the same powers all of us have. Nostradamus followed his own path and not God's path and used dark arts and rituals to conjure up a very ancient and powerful being. He never mentions who the being is because in his days he would have been killed as a witch for practicing witchcraft. It is this being who gives him his predictions.

God's prophets on the other hand came to some place unbeknownst to them and gave people two clear choices. That if they chose the path that God wanted them to choose then this will happen, but if they chose the other path then that will happen. They always said that it was YHWH GOD who sent them and either way the prophecy always came true. This is even true for revelation which gives every person their own path to follow. God's children follow God's words and their faith.

The false prophets are the ones predicting events with the hope of some of it becoming true so they can claim their fame and fortune (their own lottery) and with so many of them there is bound to be some accurate 'predictions'. Satan also uses half-truths to try and mislead God's people, but he knows that if he lies he will be caught out. He is much more clever than that. He tells you the truth, but only enough of it or lies about the stuff that you cannot verify in order to mislead you. I came across this line, if you think Satan cannot deceive you, he ALREADY has. Nostradamus was SATAN'S prophet.

Act 21:10 And as we tarried [there] many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
Act 21:11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver [him] into the hands of the Gentiles. Act 21:12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
Act 21:13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. Act 21:14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

Just to clear some confusion... if there is any, not all prohecy is edifying as we see above. Also the two prophets of the book of revelation are coming to prophecy and torment men with plagues. So there is more than one way for prophecy to work. Just be carefull that the tree has good fruit, a good tree should have good fruit. Nostradamus did'nt claim to follow Christ or know the God of heaven, so his fruit was for his own glory... not Gods.

Joh 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

This prophecy was done for the work of the ministry, and to warn Paul...

But like i said make sure the tree has good fruit...

God bless

When we think of women being silent in church, we need to see it in terms of the culture of Paul's day. In that day middle-eastern society was pretty much dominated by men. And that was accepted as the norm. For Paul to say anything that might be construed as promoting the idea of women speaking out in church would have been a major setback to the spread of Christianity. I believe that is the only reason he spoke out against it.

A study of his epistles shows that Paul had a number of women in leadership positions in the churches he planted. He didn't believe that ladies should be silent about spiritual matters. Quite the contrary. He just wanted them to zip it while services were going on in order to maintain order.
