Paul was speaking to nonChristians....That is the state of non Christians.... David was speaking of the same...the people in general....

we are righteous through Jesus Christ and in him only not of our own. All the Glory goes to the father, not us.

So not me alone I am not Righteous, me through Jesus Christ who makes me righteous.

Paul was writing to the brethren. To those that would believe, a non-believer would not be reading Paul's new material.

Matt 5:20; "For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

2 Cor 9:10; Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;

Matt 9:13; "But go and learn what this means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Luke 1:6; They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.

Jas 5:16; Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

Apparently some people are "righteous".

Gods righteousness becomes our righteousness when we walk in Christ (the anointed One and His anointing) Jesus

Ah, might? Might is good

Might is not good, for only God is good, thought God is Mighty (Zephaniah 3:17)!

In the Greek the word used is ginomai. It is also used to signify in the English "be", "come to pass", "be made". So, does one immediately become righteous when one is drawn to Christ Jesus? Some might, but I did not, but through Christ Jesus we are seen by God as righteous (Philippians 3:9; 2 Corinthians 5:21). We in turn begin to change in the process becoming more Christ like (Romans 8:29). Some, I say achieve this quicker than others.
