Not understanding the "Nailed to the cross" Sabbath concept?

revelation-3-19.jpg

One of my issues guys is that I naturally tend to take things literally. The above scripture would suggest to me that God will only discipline those he loves. Would this explain why we see people who do not believe in him prospering?

Greetings,

while one might think that, as a 'rule of thumb' it would not account for the many who do not believe who do not prosper.

the word from Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
does not literally [as you mention] say anything of prospering or not. However i shall be so bold as to say that all who hearken to the discipline/chastening and rebuke of the Lord, loved by Him, will and do prosper way beyond any prospering this present world offers or entices people with.... and as we are told, they will not perish [which is in effect the opposite to prospering]

PRAISE THE LORD

Bless you ....><>

Sure is quiet out there...
We can not justify self either. As paul said, i do what i shouldnt do, and what i should do, i dont it not.
To live... is Christ.

I perceive you are offended by me. So i will end this by saying, God bless you and have a nice day.
All power, glory, and honor be unto God. Amen

I perceive you are offended by me.

Ummn, who is this referring to please? If it's me, no I am not offended by you or anyone else here, I asked a few questions and was given the advice/opinions on them so nothing more to discuss regarding those questions, be blessed!

The meek shall inherit the earth.
What was our Lord's prosperity in this world? He had no where to lay His head. He seeked His treasures in heaven; as we are to do.
Forsaking ALL, pick up our cross and follow Him.
That means lay self totally down and put Him on. Forsaking ALL...
He knows the way...because He is the way, the truth, and the life. To live...is Christ.

Do we want our rewards now or later...the mark of our higher calling.
Amen

Not you. And no im not offended either. If they have done it to Him they will do it to us as well.

Great point but nothing wrong with wanting a joyful life while we're on earth, right?
Everything in this world, within our grasp is put here for vanity and vexation of spirit; have you read Ecclesiastes.

There is no greater joy than our fellowship with God. Amen

Father handed to our Lord all that He had need of in this world...remember the money in the fishes mouth to pay Ceasar's taxes.
We serve the same God today.
Remember how Joseph was given water from a rock in the middle of the desert where no water was, and figs from a fig tree where no figs grew.
We serve the same God, still today. Amen

Yes, we are still supposed to observe the Sabbath. Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. That is God's appointed time that He sanctified at creation and set apart. We are called to be a set apart people!
Many christians will keep 9 of the 10 commandments because they are cherry picking what best suits their lives instead of properly obeying God's commands.

I asked this question of a senior Catholic Priest a short while back, why doesn't the Church observe Sabbath and the 10 commandments?

He replied "we honor the sabbath, just THE CHURCH changed the day to Sunday and we do follow the 10 commandments".

My thinking is you can't say you follow the 10 commandments if you ignore one. Also, who the heck gave the Church the authority to change God's words? What I can;t understand is if the church is following Paul then why don't they follow Paul's teachings since Paul too just like all of the other disciples placed strong importance on keeping the Sabbath?

I had also asked another Pastor about the "nailed to the cross" concept and she said "since Christ paid for our sins there was no longer any need to follow the 10 commandments". So my thinking is by what code of conduct are we to live our lives if not following the 10 commandments and I mean ALL 10?

Hey guys, I just perhaps the best article explaining all of this?

I can't see the answer through all the secret code.

In The Bible (from Greek meaning Book) the words of the man who was murdered for us is understandable. He said that he wasn't here to destroy the law but to fulfill it. I'm kinda slow sometimes so I have to look up words.

fulfill
  • transitive verb
To bring into actuality; effect or make real.

  • transitive verb
To do, perform, or obey (a task or order, for example); carry out.

  • transitive verb
To meet (a requirement or condition); satisfy. synonym: satisfy.

I dont see anything here that indicates the 10 commandments are not to be followed. By Yeshua's words we should still observe the Sabbath.

Here's another one of those pesky things that stomp all over our traditions.

So, if we still have to obey the law as best we can and we CAN'T obey it perfectly where does that leave us?

I have my own thoughts on this but I'm hoping someone may have an answer.

I dont see anything here that indicates the 10 commandments are not to be followed. By Yeshua's words we should still observe the Sabbath.

I have never been able to find words from Jesus himself which explicitly states we should observe the Sabbath and I think that is the main reason why most Christians don't do it. Also maybe because they think the word "fulfill" means he somehow fulfilled the 10 commandments for us so no need.....Then too I think most people simply don't want to make the very difficult sacrifices it requires to keep the Sabbath.

One woman told me recently "Christ is our Sabbath since he fulfilled the law". I don't think they understand exactly WHAT was nailed to the cross which was only the repayment for our sins and what the New Covenant covered.

There is no place in the New Testament where it says that the New Testament replaced the Old Testament or that the death of Jesus did away with the Old Testament or the law. Christ said, Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. (Matt. 5:17)
There are also some who say that we live under grace, and not under the law. However, it's best to let the Bible be its own interpreter. Romans 6:14 says that we are not under the law, but under grace. The next verse clarifies that statement, saying: "What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid."
Being under grace means merely that we are no longer under the condemnation of the law, because Jesus paid the penalty for us. It doesn't mean that we can go out and do our own thing. I don't know anyone who would say that we can now go out and kill, or steal, or commit adultery! Do you? The only time they use the argument of this verse is in regards to the 4th commandment.

Hi Mystic, as regards the cross,

The son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and
chief priests and scribes, and be slain and be raised the third day.
And He said unto them all, If any man come after me, let him deny himself,
and take up your cross daily, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will loose his life
for my sake, the same shall save it.
For what a man advantaged, if he gains the whole world and loose himself,
or be cast away?( Luke 9:22-25

Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down His life for his
friends ( John 15:3).

Me. If I you want your spirit to be in the hand of God, as Jesus commended
His. Deny your self and pick up. YOUR cross daily, which is your reasonable
service.
If you walk the same unselfish path in life as Jesus walked, everyday.
As you walk further and nearer your own sacrifice, nailing your own
flesh to your own cross, sinless, you will them be raised from death
into life, in the kingdom of God now and forever. Amen.

As regards the Sabbath day, I rest every day, every day is the Sabbath,
to me. Because everything I do, I do in a position of rest, from this world,
I now obediently do everything unto Him and not my selfish self.

Hope this helps, With Love, Wnl
