Reagan was indeed labeled as the antichrist. The 6 letters in his first middle and last names (Ronald Wilson Reagan) had many, Christian and secular, certain that the Lord's return was imminent. Hindsight has a marvelous way of revealing just how ridiculous we can be sometimes and how that despite all our prognostications, only time will tell.

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion about the antichrist, the Antichrist.

I have copied here all the Bible's references to antichrist. They come from the letters of John.

Great post. I absolutely agree with your view. Point of clarification: there are 10 additional references to the antichrist in the New Testament and 33 in the Old Testament.

These verses, particlarly those that mention the Assyrian, are too specific to be directed towards a nation or Assyrians in general. None of them is allegorical. Many of them speak of events that have not yet occurred.


Additionally, there are some arguable references to him elsewhere in scripture. Walid Shoebat suggests that because the union of Satan and the antichrist will make them essentially one, that Isaiah 14:16 could speak of him since Satan was never technically a man. The spirit of antichrist is already at work in the earth . It's only a matter of time until that spirit makes its salvo from the body of a man.

Thanks for posting the verses. But I am not fully convinced. I would want to have a Biblical link between the Antichrist, the son of perdition, Assyria, the Beast, Anticochus Epiphanes, and so on to accept this as doctrine. And, as far as I am aware, there is nothing very substantial.

The Isaiah prophecies match contemporary events, the Daniel prophecies look toward the rise of the Greek empire. I don't see anything in these prophecies that impels me to look forwards from now.

That's not to say that I don't trust that God has the future in hand, just that I am sceptical about our attempts to pin it down.

I wish that my fellow Christians would stop pointing fingers at people - in this case our current president - and stop debating who among us is the Antichrist. Yes, I believe that there will be a world leader / figure who will turn out to be the Antichrist. However, the Antichrist is really a spirit at work in the world. Everytime we act in a way that is opposed to Christ and in tune with this corrupt world, we have the spirit of the Antichrist at work within us. Our "plates" are full enough and we don't need to go around pointing fingers at people and judging our leaders. Remember, the Bible says that it is God who places people into positions of power and that includes President Obama. He needs our prayers more than he needs our judgmental views. As long as we focus on Christ, then everything will take care of itself.

Which person the anti-Christ will inhabit isn't really the point of Prephecy. One should appreciate that the world in general, while it may become more religious, will turn away from Jesus and seeking the will of the Father. The President of the United States isn't the only leader who is not inclined to seek God; many civic leaders around the world do not. Because the world is not familiar with God's will, it only takes someone who can twist things into half truths such as the serpent did to Eve. The world will exist in a spiritual vertigo.

Yes, we are to be aware and know the Bible and what Yeshua say's about end times.. I for one want to get as close as I can to Yeshua so I can not take a breathe without Him in my face.... we are going to need that for what is coming upon us, stand strong in Yeshua for there is no other way....

Can anyone name just ONE U.S. President who wasn't labeled "the antichrist"?

I've only been hearing this since the second Bush was in office. Yes, he did make some major mistakes. But to call him, or even Obama "the antichrist" is IMHO, an excuse to put the blame on the problems of this country on one man.

Everyone is/was expecting the antichrist to either come out of the whitehouse, or come out of Europe. The problem with this is that they have been saying this for a long time now. I really wish that people, especially Christians, would stop in pointing out to the countries leaders as being the anti-Christ, or anyone in a position of power for that matter.

The anti-Christ is a spirit that is totally against God, rejects God first-hand and outright. Therefore we need to stop looking at a President and realize that there are today many anti-Christs in operation throughout the world today. The President(s) (Obama, Bush, etc) have not even touched (afaik) on any teachings of the Bible at all. We tend to look at them and see them bowing down at a religious temple in China and think "Oh, the Christian USA President is worshipping Buddha (or whoever). It's like do we really know if he's worshipping, or doing so out of courtesy?

One thing the US government hasn't done (again afaik) is approach any religion and say "You cannot do this or that." I mean, if that were the case, then many of the Islamic mosques throughout the USA would have been shut down already...

If we are in church, listening to the Pastor preach against sin (any sin, it doesn't matter) and we go home after service, and indulge in that sin with no remorse at all, then the anti-Christ is us.

Sorry to sound so rude and offensive, but just because two leaders in a row seem to be ruining our once prosperous nation doesn't mean that they are the anti-christ. It just means that we, as a once-Christian nation, need to really pray for our leaders as we are supposed to, and pray that God may have real mercy on us all! After all, it's not like God isn't looking as each and every one of our own hearts and deciding to either bless us with prosperity, or curse us with economic problems.

We must all know that there are people who are anti-christ but we don't know who are they.We must be aware that the end is near as early as now we must spread the word of Our God and We must be prepared this day because we don't know what will happen in future,

antichrist is not Christian, by definition alone

The only one who fits the description of the anti-Christ is the pope (not the one right now, but whichever one comes next is more than likely the Anti-Christ). Just look it up, the Catholic church/Pope are the only one that really fit the prophecies almost to a T!

With all due respect, John tells us that the very definition of antichrist is one who says Christ has not come. If this is true of any pope, then that pope is an infiltrator.

A brief warning, if I may: If you can make this claim against one Christian, then you can as easily be made to say this about any Christian. At which time this whole event becomes an irreparable division in the body of Christ -- the sort of division that makes one very sick Church into one dead one, and one who is kept from the hour of tribulation. This sort of infighting amongst Christians is a subject of merriment to the world. This should never happen!

The label antichrist is true of anyone who still waits for their messiah. In fact, the Lord Jesus says that the Pharisees hold the blood of the world in their hands, and upon them and their followers will come the repayment... and He says virtually the same thing in the Revelation. (compare Matthew 23 with Revelation 18)

I liked Obama when he was pushing to be President......Maybe it was because he grasped the language...and could speak.....so different from his predecessor.

Recently in Egypt, Obama on three accasions referred to the Koran as a Holy Book......Dear Lord....but also mentioined (once) that he was a Christion.

Like so many...I am waiting and watching.....folks talk of global warming...but God is in control. What man has started..maybe man can finish......but if the LOrd God Almighty is behind what is going on, only He can, and He will bring it to conclusion

This makes sense to me, he came from no where and beat the Clintons at their own game within their own party. While it's certainly weird, I don't think Obama is independent or wise enough to control the whole planet. And while everyone commends his public speaking abilities, it's all such a script and we've yet to see this man unscripted.

I've also seen these stories where people are putting so much effort into silly codes trying to prove Obama is the anti Christ. In all seriousness, we were not instructed to look for the antichrist... we were told to make disciples and watch for the return of Christ :wink:

Oh the Koran is a holy book. It's just not our Holy Book. If you would pour oil on it, and burn it...there woul be nothing left.

Now our Holy book...Many men have tried to shut it up, burn it up, tear it up, etc....the problem, for them, is that they have been trying to extinguish the Bible for a couple hundred, if not thousands and thousands of years...yet somehow it survives...

And Dagoth still manages to end up face down on the ground with his/her hands cut off.....
