Youtube paid 1.6 million or so to ASCAP and possibly money to BMI. This is a performance license for playing songs.
So, It cost Youtube money to allow users to post certain songs, which make it legal.
Some Songs Had no agreement and Youtube removes those songs if asked by the music company.
So anything you find on Youtube would be OK to listen to as Youtube is a upright company and business model.
