Humans started as humans, I believe we may have changed a little and adapted a little over the generations and when our genes mixed and the environment necessitated certain changes eg extra layers of fat for cold weather .....these things had to happen for our survival.

As far as I know there isn't any substanciated claims for a missing link, many hoaxes yes, eg ape jaw bone put together with human for instance.

As I understand it there are different species of ape that may share similar but not the same characteristics as humans eg five fingers etc...but you have to remember that all living things share similar characteristics eg a mouth for eating ..... if you look at genetics there is only a certain percentage difference between us and a cow for example in our genetic codes. God created us so we and other creatures could survive on this planet which might necessitate lungs for breathing air etc...we are bound to have similarities as we are in the same environment as many other living creatures with a genetic code for life on this planet.

Many creatures may have changed according to their environment but that is a given. Is it not possible that the potter makes different creatures out of similar clay in that it can be molded, sharing similar but not the same ingredients? eg all clay contains water, clay might have iron in the more iron the more terracotta, buff has a little iron and white doesn't have much if any. Is it not conceivable that God used the materials/clay around him to make the different creatures?

I believe humans used to be shorter than we are today based on diet .....but we did nevertheless start out as humans that is my understanding.

I think that we have a slight difference of opinion in that you think God had a cement mixer and I think God had a kiln.

Hi Eve, I don't want to contradict what you said, I only want to supplement it. Indeed God created us to survive and there does exist micro evolution, but it's adaptation on a minute scale. There has never been any evidence to support makro evolution.

I'd like to recommend Dr. Kent Hovind' series on evolution to anyone interested in the real answers and truths. Pm me and I'll give you his website adress.

To give you a taster of the series: The Bible says earth was created in and out of water, this means earth had a layer of water at it's exterior. The Bible further talks about giants living in those times (Noah etc.), the basis for the Hovind theory is that this water mass in earths exterior created a type of hyperbolic chamber, where by people had almost 100 % oxygen and the food and plants and everything was three times the size of present day, this is pre-flood.

The whole series on evolution is quite extraodinary and a must see for every Christian.

Hi,

I will investigate the book you mention and you bring up a great point on giants in the bible.

There are always exceptions to the rule eg gigantism and certain tribes having different height characteristics but this is not the general norm as far as I am aware, which is probably why it gets a mention. So you have the story of eg David and Goliath etc....

We undoubtedly have changed over the years, you just have to visit a medieval house and try to fit through the doorways. Some of the cottages in England are like munchkin houses! It's also interesting to note that Holland apparently has the tallest population in the world and they used to be the one of the smallest. Diet and external factors have come into play. Some think it's to do with all the diary produce they consume and what they feed their cattle....many other theories as well but now they have had to increase the minimum height requirement for doorways as many of them can't fit through them safely anymore! No matter how we have changed we are still human. Adam was still a man and Eve was still a woman, I think that's something we all agree on (I hope)!

I believe we do adapt to our environment and this can be seen with many plants and animals. Does this take away from the wonder of all God's living creation? Certainly not. Did God create the world to be static, no. He created a living world. Do these changes whether you have tall genes, short genes, black or white genes really matter, no. Are they interesting, yes. The bible exists not as a catalogue of every living creature and organism but as divine guidence for our souls. I think that this should be remembered OCD, when we discuss the bible.

I think this is a wonderful thing to say Eve, I commend you on it.

Dr. Kent Hovind is a creationist evangelist and he will be in South Africa in this month (or the coming one) aswell. He is from the USA and he runs a small dinosaur theme park in the USA, with real fossils and interesting facts. I'm not sure if he has a book on the subject, but I'd have to check that first. The series I was talking about is an actual fact a non copyrighted DVD series that you can view in the comfort of your own home. It is freely available to anyone that wants it, but I think a small fee for handling is charged. I have not asked Chad if I can post a link yet, I'm a bit busy today, but if you want to find out more about this series, just type in Dr. Dino in any search engine.

Edit: I have to correct myself, the series I have on evolution is non copyright, but it seems his website does have copyrighted material. Ask one of your friends in the community or church if they don't have the series, you never know.

Thanks teraside,

I'll take a look, it's Angelwaves b'day today and I'm being called in to watch a DVD with the family, so got to go but it sounds really interesting. So I maybe ordering that DVD after I have taken a look.

I have a confession now you've mentioned dinosaurs. :embarasse My four year old son loves dinosaurs, (we would have preferred, cars or something) but he's got hooked on dinosaurs. So much so, for his school easter parade the pre-schoolers had to decorate their own hats/bonets and he insisted he had a dinosaur on his! We/they pleaded with him to put little bunny rabbits on it or chicks but he was resolute. I said to him what about these lovely eggs and he said "dinosaurs laid eggs"! So there he was, with us going bright red with our heads in our hands, as he walked along proud as punch that he had a triceratops on his head with a load of eggs under it! The positive side was at least he took part and we could explain easter some more to him later on.

We didn't make a big deal of it or try to stop him but hopefully next year he will think of something slightly more appropriate!

The most wonderful thing of all is that your son is indeed so small and interested in something that God made :) It is funny that he would do that for easter, but this brings new light to your life. When watching those DVD's you'll come across sections where Dr. Kent Hovind talks about the age of the earth and how Dinosaurs lived. This brings new possibilties to you for teaching your son the true facts of God, the world and even Dinosaurs. I have this picture in my mind at present, you explain to your son that Dinosaurs did not live millions of years ago, but only thousands, and that the book is correct in saying how they looked and what they ate, but it's incorrect in saying how old they were. My cousins dad was a man of the Lord and he used to take all the dinosaur books and he would take a dark marker and write over the "millions of years". He told his sons from an early age that Dinosaurs were thousands of years old, not millions.

I had an absolute hate against evolution from an early age in my life. So much that I decided I didn't believe in Dinosaurs, much to the surprise of my family, because I was similar to your son. I had books and pictures and toys and everything had to be a Dinosaur when I was small. Luckily I changed my mind again this year, after viewing that series of DVD's. I believe Dinosaurs did infact exist, and that God created them.

Thanks for sharing that story Eve, it put a smile on my face :)

I have prayed for you.

Hi ocd. Boy, that sounds scarry to me, too! Satan works in his own mysterious ways. And once he thinks he has you hooked he'll do his best to make it even worse on you.
It seems to me he's trying to scare you & it's his hope that he will confuse you in hoping that you will give up on GOD.
My husband suffers from anxiety but not quite the same way you are.
All I can think to say is stick with The Almighty GOD! Do not let Satan scare you! Satan is sticking his thorn of torment into you! {2Cirinthians 12:7} He wants to bother you - in hope that once again, he can tear you down, in order for him to tear you away from GOD.
When you get scared Call out to The Almighty GOD -Jehovah!- Or say to Satan; "get thou behind me, Satan! It is written thou shall Worship the Lord Thy GOD, and HE only shalt thou serve!" Magic words against Satan 'that is if you believe in The Almighty GOD & Jesus Christ & truly love them, too. {Luke 4:8} And Jehovah has the Power to do what ever you ask of HIM & will do so 'IF' it is accoding to what HE wants to do. Jesus said in John 14:13-14; "And what ever you ask in my name, I will do, that the FATHER may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my names I will do it." Matthew 6:13 - For thou has thy Kingdom, and thy Glory, and thy Power forever & ever." Ask, for GOD can do anything - for all things are posible through GOD {The Almighty GOD}
