Evidently, you have no idea of The person of JESUS CHRIST and the Purpose of GOD and of "The Salvation STORY" but you are in taken by The drama of Corrupt mankind and been appeased and so thrill and taken on your own narrative. And you are woven tight, so tight, i do believe you cannot be unravel by one of The Finest Craftsman. in this landDavid eventually stood back up. God could have had him stoned to death for what he did, but God saw repentence in his heart and didnt. God doesnt go against his own laws he set for them. Yes he had to pay something for his transgressions.
David was flesh and blood like we are. he made mistakes.
Gods prophet Nathan confronted him on a matter, he told David a rich man stole a sheep from his neighbor, that enraged David, the penalty under Gods law for that was to pay back 4 x what it was worth. David said as surely as YHWH(Jehovah ) is living the man who did this deserves to die. Nathan was really speaking about what David had done concerning Bathsheba. So David being imperfect showed a lack of mercy even though God had been merciful to him over the matter which was deserving of a death sentence.
We all need to show mercy if we expect it from God for what we have done.
I taken my leave sir, concerning this particular matter.
