Should christians support Blasphemy

In every movie it seems like, its okay to curse with Jesus name in it, my stomach turns and I lose interest. They mock christianity and God every chance they get. And we laugh, " Hey its only a movie "

Hollywood takes no interest in our values or morals.
Should we continue giving them more money to produce more filth ?

I never understood my youth leaders, when they told us to flee from every appearance of evil.
I thought they were being lame, trying to spoil our fun.
But now I realise that my exposure to these movies have desensitize my view of entertainment. If it didnt have some murderous serial killer its not entertaining.
It was had for me to break away from Hollywood entertainment.

Should we pay $14. to support Blasphemy.
Should we pay $30 to take blasphemy in our homes. (DVDs)

Should we ?

The answer to your question is absolutely no.

I have seen many of you (in this post) say that it is easy to say no, but we don't know when we will fall into the temptation of watching movies again.

Well, I agree very well with that. We cannot rely on human strength, but ofcourse I watch movies rarely like:

1) The Robe [The man (The roman soldier) who crucified Jesus Christ became a Christian]
2) The revelation of Jesus Christ.
3) Benhur.

But I don't watch any other movies (especially on TV or in theatres).

I have never watch movies for perhaps 10 years (even before I got saved) and it is nothing but the grace of God that helped me not to fall into the habit of watching movies.

Many of my friends asked me, why I don't watch movies? What other source of entertainment do I have? I used to tell them, there is nothing on earth that can make you happy like The presence of God. They used to literally ask me, to come and watch a movie with them, but thank God I was able to still stand up and say NO.

Just imagine how God worked in my life.

Many people call me a boring person. But I say, call me anything, I don't care, I will enjoy in God's presence.

It is nothing but the grace of God that will help us stand up and say NO.

And I thank God that He helped me to stand up and say no to movies and any other evil program on TV and I know that He will still help me to say NO to that in future.

Glory to Jesus.

Before I close this post I would like to say that our society is greatly influenced by movies and all the evil filth. All this is happening because our Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon to earth. He could come at any moment, may be the next hour, next minute or even now.

God bless you.

Glory to Jesus.

Absolutely NOT!!!

We should not support anything that hurts the holy Name of our precious Savior, Jesus Christ.
I have been watching a movie or program and it makes me very upset when this happens. We need to storm the FCC about keeping the airways free of this kind of stuff. One Million Moms/Dads at afa.net stays on top of these kinds of issues.

Although I already responded to this thread, I want to say something that popped up in my mind yesterday.

Why should a Christian support blasphemy? It just would not make sense and be hypocritical on our part.

Now, we know its hard to prune out every horrible thing in this world that may have some hint of blasphemy or just plain things ungodly. However, practice and prayer does help. After all, we're a work in progress as the Holy Spirit shapes and forms us into the likeness of Jesus.

2 Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

Personally, I find it troubling that in our current culture it's acceptable to use the name of Jesus as a swear word but not ok when you're praying or witnessing or just plain sticking up for Him. People don't want to hear the name of Jesus mentioned. But if you're swearing then that's ok. ????
Hollywood has been trying to make a point for years now, however subtly, that Christianity is stupid and that it turns people into idiots. I think that Hollywood is full of the devil personally and we all know what the devil thinks of Jesus! Movies are a powerful way to influence people. Don't kid yourself that they are just harmless entertainment.

:love::love:
It really breaks my heart to hear people take Jesus name in vain, it is not only that, it has become a " slang word " they use it in ordinary conversation, I to agree with Chad, the answer is NO, NO, NO, God is Holy and to be Reverend. There are really no movies anymore worth going to see, not only the vulgar language, but the cost also, who wants to pay the out ragees price to hear our Lord and Saviour spoken of as a common man? Not I, Love, Rebeck

Absolutely NOT! It's the 3rd Commandment, "THOU SHALL NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN!" Your going to be held accountable for the words you speak.

(Exodus 20:7 - Deuteronomy 5:11)...
One of the major morals and ethics of Hebrew Culture has been the keeping of God's NAME or Hah-SheM Sacred! (In fact, many of the Jews even refuse to speak the Holy Name of God, the tetragramaton: YHVH or I-AM, in Public!) Consequently, we also need to have Respect and Reverance for God's Name(s), and be sure that we use them properly (and not vainly)!

It's a matter of respect. IF everyone was aware that God created them and therefore they had little to say about their own existance then why on earth would one think it's ok to blaspheme their very creator?

I don't remember where it is in the bible but there's a reference to the potter's clay that kind of says it all.

Since we're on this topic, I would like to add that this is (imho) one of humanity's biggest problems. It's a pride thing, a foolish pride thing. We blaspheme because we have no respect.

We barely know what we are and yet we're so quick to mock our creator and judge His actions.

God knows what God is doing I always like to say.

It's kind of reflected in the way we treat our parents when we're teenagers. This tendancy and characteristic is why I personally have no problem with believing the bible when it discribes us as being rebellious in nature.

Just think about it, IF you were somehow able to bring life to a bunch of little pebbles and then they started mocking you, how would you react?
Wouldn't you like to remind them that they wouldn't even exist if you didn't create them in the first place? Well, God is above even this which is His right afterall. He never actually comes out and says this even though it's true.

Far above us He is! He is more deserving of all the praise we could possibly muster.

what a good poll thank you risen1
I replied no ... but I have to confess I do swear ... on occassion & it bothers me... (construction industry) sometimes it just slips out.
I do draw the line at using the Lord's name in vain. When ppl at work do that I walk away from them. It is funny though, when the people i work with do and I walk away from then. Later they apologize to me. Most of them know I'm a Christian, even though I get mocked for it I also get that respect as well. Because I am an intreventionist in peoples lives in hopes of returning others to the Lord most of the current music I stay in touch with. As apoint to make contact with others, with most of the movies and music my heart aches for those caught up in it. SAo the last poll response is a good one as well ... not that I don't care ... I do but God knows my heart. >>> wow sometimes I think I can understand what Jesus went through knowing there were so many people that needed Him and as a man His time was so limited.
ooops sorry for rambling on ... Good job.

"The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of Judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:35-37
