Struggling re: successful people who couldn't care less

Money.

eddieb
If we had everything we needed on earth we wouldnt have a need to depend on God and keep him first in our lives. being poor is actually an advantage.
Pro 6:11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

Pro 13:18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

Poverty is part of the curse, disobedience to God.

Pro 10:15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

Poverty destroys lives, it gives no advantage.

Life is what you make of it. You reap what you sow.
This is one of the most powerful statements in this thread.

You get nothing if you sow nothing. It's like a man tilling the ground for a garden, yet planting nothing. He waits all summer for his harvest, then comes posting on the forums about how God did not want him to have any tomatoes or good food to eat because his garden is empty.

Pro 26:13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.
Pro 26:14 As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.

In this media world we get many things that pass us by. Opportunities our friends bring us for Multi level marketing companies, You can learn and trade markets today for free, nothing down. Get a demo account and practice and pray until you get it. FREE!!!

Yet the poor put their hand to nothing, put their faith on nothing. It's not for me, there is a lion in the street. I tried that, and it did not work, sniff.

Confession against the Word. Calling God a Liar.

Php 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

"We never have enough to make ends meet"
"The prices of gas are to expensive."
"Who can afford meat these days?"
"If I had more I would give more."

2Co 9:10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

I also dont think Christians are destined to be poor or unsuccessful, or we dont deserve to have money at all, but we are destined to know what is the most important. And Im sure (100%) that Jesus is right, it will be harder.

Praise God sister, we are to come up, come out, and not be part of this world system to take, and horde, but give and it shall be given.
Jesus came and preached the good news to the poor. What would be good news to a poor person? That you don't have to be poor no more.

Job 36:11
If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

If your struggling year after year, then God can't be first. When you get money, you think of your needs? Or what the kingdom needs?

Seek the Kingdom of God first and all these things shall be added unto you............ SHALL BE!!

This month the Lord asked us to get this women's car out of the shop, The bill was crazy, but the women did not have any money to get her car. My wife and I had to empty our bank account to just get her car out. There went the power bill money, but so what.

That money is worth lots more now given to God, than if I just held onto it.

With God, 100 fold return is possible, but not under mans system.

Mar 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Mar 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

.

the advantage is it puts you in a place to depend on God. this will have you leaning on him more than if you had everything you needed. in turn this will cause you to draw closer to God. how is that not an advantage? a closer walk with Him? life isnt a bed of roses, God dont just make you rich because you dont have "the curse" in your life. because you obey him. there are many christians who are poor in the world. christians who do obey and honor God. all i see in scripture thats promised is food and clothes. last time i checked if food and clothes is all you got, thats poverty.
a rich person dosent see a need for God. flip that coin over and there are rich people who are eyes glowin hearts on fire believers too.
bottom line is God orders our steps. if you are poor, praise him for it. maybe a bunch of money would get you in trouble. (not saying to not try in life to do something better, but maybe, just maybe, God knows whats best.)

in addition you quoted proverbs 6:11. you go one verse before that and it says this:
Pro 6:10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
what scripture you quoted its actually warning against being lazy, and not trying. in verse 9 it says the word "sluggard".
i have worked hard all my life. real hard. every single employer has always said i was the best worker. few can hold a candle to me. and still i am not rich. God has only given me "just enough". my life isnt destroyed because of this. your theory is flawed.

Hello all.

1 Timothy 6:9-11

9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish
and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from
the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11
But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith,
love, patience, gentleness.

I understand where you coming from, I guess I have to ask at what point don't we need God, rich or poor. God never designed us to live from Paycheck to paycheck. We need to be using our faith for Kingdom Work, building projects, getting the Word preached. It takes lots of energy and effort to have to believe God to just survive week by week. I have found that I can only really believe God and put my faith on a few things, being only human.

because you obey him. there are many christians who are poor in the world. christians who do obey and honor God. all i see in scripture thats promised is food and clothes. last time i checked if food and clothes is all you got, thats poverty

Many Christians who obey God and are still poor.

Yes, and the Word corrects us!! There are still things I see in the Word, that I have not achieved, and it's only because I need more growth.

Isa 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

See, it don't matter how much famine is in the Land, how poor the country. If your serving God with a whole Heart, doing his will, and still struggle month after month, it's not God, your missing something.

Psa 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

I go to God, and ask him why I am not seeing this scripture coming to pass, what do I need to change? My words? did I do something or start something you told me not to do?

Wealth:

All the hidden things, all the Wealth on this planet belong to God and His people. Not the devil and his bunch. It's God's. God designed money, wealth to accomplish his Goals, his plans. When we roll over and just say oh well, I guess God don't want everyone to be well off, is to allow the enemy continue to be a thief. (Not that he would change of course.)

When the righteous rule, the people rejoice.

Jesus Is Lord.

I tend to agree with you BrotherMike but with a caveat.

There are variables in each situation that we don't always have knowledge of.To everything there is a season and we like our savior will fulfill scripture.

Hebrews 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
Hebrews 11:36 And others had trial of
cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
Hebrews 11:37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

I don't think that these afflicted ones did anything wrong.

I feel that balance lies in this verse:
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

I am focused on the "I have overcome the world" part but I'm not going to judge my relationship with God on any prosperity formula's expectations. If I must suffer some kind of tribulation I would pick poverty over sickness or loneliness(the rich are lonely because they don't know who really loves them).

I do agree with you that we must enforce these truths in our minds and especially with our tongues(Let the poor say I am rich).

Hebrews 11:35

Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

What we are saying, is what we believe, comes out of the Heart. What we say is important. I believe If God called me to preach in Iraq, that Iraq would be the safest place on the Earth for me. To not obey God puts us in danger. I would have to think there would be many close encounters and challenges to this type of calling, but the Lord delivers them out of them all.

I was wonder what a better Resurrection would be, I understand not accepting being delivered, but how would that be better? If the bible says it's better, then it's better, but I don't know how.

I wanted to give an update on my 'ponderings'.

Thank you for posting scriptures for me and engaging in this discussion.

After my last post, I decided that I would not wonder these things. I would only recite these scriptures and trust in God (In Jesus name). I really meditated on the word on this. Came to peace.

The next day, I got a call, completely unexpected. Someone I am close to told me that they were sending me $300. No reason was given nor had I asked them for money. They knew that I was looking for a job and had expenses in wait. Isn't that amazing!? I thanked God!!! And the person, of course. :) I feel that the good and wise scriptural advice which was reflected on in this thread truly made this difference for me. Thanks.

I had a job interview for the most wonderful job yesterday. They have scheduled the second interview for next week. I am praying for God's will be done, in Jesus name.

Staying in the word...

Glory to God!!

I praise the Lord with you sister!!!! I thank God with your for that Job.

I also know how you feel about that 300.00. It took a few years to learn this, but my wife and I no longer fret about giving even our bill money to someone always putting God first. I can't out give God, I have tried.

We have found bags of food on our door step, many have just handed us money. Someone bought my son hundreds of dollars worth of school cloths.

My confession is that God is increasing us more and more, us and our children. To be a blessing to others. Wealth and riches shall be in our house (psa 112) every need always met, and more than enough to give.

You will never hear me say that is to expensive, I just thank God that someday it won't be. I have learned not to complain about prices, The only thing God will hear out of my mouth is what He has said. That is it.

Even when it comes to healing, or danger. I will say of the Lord that he is my refuge, in my God, I will trust. I will say nothing else.

My wife and I rejoice with you Sister!!!

Thanks Mike. I'm glad you answered this. I had to go to Nogales this last week. Thought I was going to California but Arizona was warmer. LOL

I do wonder that the children of GOD don't even know what their rights are as GOD's kids. Maybe their own parents starved them?

I'm dealing with an inner conflict. I don't understand why there are so so many people who aren't Christians or believers really of any kind, some are downright atheists or complete deniers of God, doing all kinds of evil things in this world. Yet they are totally financially secure, with no financial worry in the world. When at the same time the only stumbling block some true believers deal with is lack of money that causes severe distress. I just don't understand. :(
Any advice or scriptures to help me come to peace with this fact in the world? I'm really struggling here.

I've wondered about it too. Read Psalms 73 When you've read it, read it again.

And Another...

Psalm 37 (King James Version)

Psalm 37

1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13The LORD shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
14The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
15Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
18The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
19They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
21The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
22For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
23The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
24Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
25I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
28For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
31The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
32The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
34Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
35I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
36Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
38But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
39But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
40And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Money

Outward appearances of money means nothing, and nothing is secure.
Treasure on earth can get eaten and destroyed in a seconds.

Lots of these "Rich" looking people would loose everything to the banks if they missed a month of work.

God has a plan for prosperity where He adds no sorrow to it, it is sustained, it's a life of giving. It's having millions, but giving it as the Lord directed to build a new church, or home for kids, Having nothing again. Yet, knowing what you sowed is coming back again.

When money becomes a tool in your life, and not a need, and we know God is the real provider, we can be free.

Jesus Is Lord.

Can a caterpillar ever become a butterfly unless it does something? It makes a cocoon and sleeps to change. For us. We also are not what we first appear as. We change, some for good, some for bad. I know of how I was before Jesus. I would blame everyone but me for my problems,I would judge those without first judging myself.

I would laugh at others while they cried. At this time, I did not believe this was wrong. I did these things to protect myself from there element. Weakness. But yet who was weak? I then had a dream, like most do,but this dream had an effect on what my life was now to become.

To have knowledge one must seek it. And to seek knowledge one must have a need for it.As my life became so low,I could not even crawl under a snake. I thought, I have done everything I know to do to make it in this life, and all has failed me. Upon entering College I met a guy who lived for Jesus. He was not just a Sunday believer.

He was a 24/7 believer?I had never seen this before. And through this expercience Jesus through him taught me what it was I needed. He did not preach to me,he only lived what he believed. True faith cometh by hearing!! But action is taken from other action seen.

I learned,I heard, then I spun my cocoon. And then I was changed by Jesus. When one has there eyes closed in life, one cannot see, what they have truly become in there own life. But once they have chosen to open there own eyes, they behold what they themselves have created in themselves.

It is then,Jesus can be seen. For what can we see with our eyes closed in life?( matt 13:14-16) ( luke 6:39-49!) Do not be amazed at what is happening around you. Just do your best to show the light of Jesus within you. When that light is bright enough they will come to you. I did!

I thought more highly of myself before Jesus. Now I think more highly of others in Jesus. For in each of us lies truth. And in that truth love. Love which all of us has,but some hid it.We do not get mad at them, for we understand where they are,we were once there our self.

What we concern ourselves with,is how the light of Jesus can shine bright enough for others to see in us. Let your light shine,as you do here my brothers and sisters. Do not cover Jesus in you, with a basket, but rather let Jesus shine in you!( matt 5:13-16) For it is by HIS light we ourselves saw, even through closed eyes, his light opened ours. And theirs will open as well, when enough light shines on them!! amen!

Hey guys, I want to post an update and share my testimonial about God. :) (I also posted this in the praise forum).

Glory to God...Thank you Jesus. I got an offer letter today for a job!!! I have been unemployed for quite a while. This is such a blessing.

The breakthrough came when (despite suffering) I focused only on glorifying God, reading scripture and prayer for God's will be done. ...rather than focus on the issues of the flesh. A phenomenal change in mindset. This is truly a miracle from God.

Trust in God!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Praise God sister.

If we just focus on the Word until faith comes and we believe that over our circumstance. It's as if a man built his house on the rocks......

the storm came, but because he took heed to the Words of the Lords, that storm could not even shake his house.

Sure, there was a storm, sure lights might have gone out for a bit, sure we had to stay inside and wait it out, but when the power of the word came and God is faithful to those that believe, Things soon became clear and sunny, with our house still standing.

Our neighbor though, he did not believe what God said, did not take heed to it, He was worried and scared of that storm, and his house lay in ruins on the sand he built it on.

I guess both us and the Neighbor can go shopping now, and get on with life, but the neighbor has no place to store his grocery's.

Jesus Is Lord.

I have seen times in my life that I did everything wrong and got the right results and I have seen times that I did all the right things and got the wrong results. This leads me to believe that not everyone is qualified to be tested. Some of the things I am am dealing with now I know I could not have handled before I became a believer.

At first I felt it might have been better to stay ignorant than for God to show me how much I had matured in him. They say God will never put you through more than you can handle but what they may not have told you is that God has a much higher opinion of you than you do.

James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

All the scriptures given by others here are great to focus on and to speak into the air. There are so many variables in a persons life that no one can judge you or say you're not using the right formula.Sometimes the more you shine in a dark world the more you will attract bugs.

I pray that God will provide all your needs through his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

That was really good, especially "Sometimes the more you shine in a dark world the more you will attract bugs."

...know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away...

And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
