Gary, Though your message does make sense, I believe we all know good from evil.
I am here to challenge that belief and give you an alternative perspective of it.
The misunderstood tree: the knowledge of good and evil.
This tree did not contain any knowledge of that which is good or that which is evil. Upon eating the fruit, Adam and Eve did not look down or across at each other and say "utoh" were naked as if they had not been able to see that fact before. Adam had time after time looked upon the naked body of Eve without once flinching. He had no problem with that. Nor was he worried that Eve or God or whoever might see his own nakedness. What changed was their 'eyes', the eyes of understanding, were opened. Instead of being the children of God, they became like God and therefore little gods themselves. Their first declaration what "Being naked is BAD!!! EVIL". But if you think about it God had created them naked and said everything was 'very good'. Although they now had the ability to discern 'good' and 'evil' it was only based upon there own faulty logic and not the actual truth.
Beware of any ability that you think you might have to discern good from evil outside of understanding given to you by God through his word or through direct revelation from him.
If there is an evil spirit in me, would not know? It would tell me to do or perform actions against God. In the same way you speak of Eve, she knew she was sinning, God advised both her and Adam not to eat the fruit of that tree. In essence, she disobeyed God and knew it was wrong.
I had been guided by evil spirits my whole life and was none the wiser. They came in and took up residence and subtly began to guide me by slowly filling my heart full of thoughts that were wrong. Devils are smart, they don't walk in and say "Go burn your bible!". Instead they suggest that God didn't really mean what that text appears to say. It is this form of slyness allows them to ease their way in over time to move you to do that which is evil. Seeds that are planted, watered then sprung up on you as an ugly overgrowth.
By the way the bible says Eve was deceived into eating the fruit. Although she once understood it to be wrong, Satan used certain weaknesses to cause her to doubt the truth. He confused her and when she ate she wasn't so certain it was the wrong thing to do.
As Christians we should know right from wrong.
Amen.
We all sin and fall short of the Glory of God, sometimes we catch ourselves prior to sin and try to avoid, other times we jus sin and know it was wrong through Jesus telling us.
I must avoid debate that is easily drawn about when discussing the above mentioned things. Let me just say for now that I understand why you think this is true. I won't address these types of issues in the forum publicly as it just brings about more ungodliness. I always welcome PM's.
These are my thoughts. And I do appreciate your insight very much. I am still learning as a new Christian. Saved in 1976, relapsed shortly after and was saved again through repentance to Jesus in 2005, from there I have been hot and cold in my faith, now I want to be true and faithful to Jesus. Need him to guide me daily. You know how you can hear him sometimes in your mind advising you, "Don't do that." I have never really ben filled with the Holy Spirit, though many of my fellow church members have told their experiences. You are more knowledgable than I in speaking of Christ and knowing your Bible, of that I am sure. I enjoy reading your "threads" and your responses to my messages. It helps me with my struggles. Thank you.
I enjoy the interaction with you too. I am glad to hear that you were not completely lead away from the Lord and that he has guided you back. I pray that the Lord draw you close to himself, so close that all you can see or hear is him. I pray that he change you into his glorious image that you may truly understand the freedom that comes from knowing him well.
In Christ,
Gary
