Christina 2000 Serving 2 Tours in Special Forces in Vietnam I can give you the blunt truth about any war. Number 1. There are no innocents in War! NONE!!!! Not children, not old people, the whole point is to kill enough people like we did in World War 2 to get the enemy to surrender. I KNOW!!!! I agree with you!! But to the soldier this is the way it truly is.
Number 2 What a soldier is not allowed to do is rape or torture civilians! Which Russia has done! To the soldier who is very angry in the first-place torture to civilians can be done to find out information about where the enemy is. And if you find weapons in the area to where the enemy may wish to come back to. I am not saying this is right, I am just speaking from the mindset of a soldier. Finally, many call out the Geneva Convention as a way to treat other people, I remember my Master Chief saying in replay " We are not in Geneva!"
Most civilians believe there are rules to War, in fact we are taught this, but the truth on the battlefield is the only rule in War is to stay alive another day, and you can do ANYTHING to sustain this! And that is the truth to the soldier in War! Ukraine people know this, they sure never have to agree with this mindset, but in War, there is really only one rule! My regret is that I am 69 years old, and I cannot fight with Ukraine! I hate War! Everyone loses something in it! I hope this was not to blunt for you, but you ought to know the real truth about any War. Blessing!
