1 Corinthians 6:12
(AMPC) Everything is permissible (allowable and lawful) for me; but not all things are helpful (good for me to do, expedient and profitable when considered with other things). Everything is lawful for me, but I will not become the slave of anything or be brought under its power.
(ASV) All things are lawful for me; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the power of any.
(BBE) I am free to do all things; but not all things are wise. I am free to do all things; but I will not let myself come under the power of any.
(CEV) Some of you say, "We can do anything we want to." But I tell you that not everything is good for us. So I refuse to let anything have power over me.
(CSB) “Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.
(ESV) “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
(GNB) Someone will say, "I am allowed to do anything." Yes; but not everything is good for you. I could say that I am allowed to do anything, but I am not going to let anything make me its slave.

(GW) Someone may say, "I'm allowed to do anything," but not everything is helpful. I'm allowed to do anything, but I won't allow anything to gain control over my life.
(HCSB) "Everything is permissible for me," but not everything is helpful. "Everything is permissible for me," but I will not be brought under the control of anything.
(KJV) All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
(MKJV) All things are lawful to me, but not all things profit. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
(MSG) Just because something is technically legal doesn't mean that it's spiritually appropriate. If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I'd be a slave to my whims.
(NAS77) All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
(NAS95) All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
(NIrV) Some of you say, "Everything is permitted for me." But not everything is good for me. Again some of you say, "Everything is permitted for me." But I will not be controlled by anything.
(NIV) "I have the right to do anything," you say—but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"—but I will not be mastered by anything.
(NKJV) All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
(NLT) You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.
(RV) All things are lawful for me; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the power of any.
I suppose it's lawful to go back to being a slave if you really want to. But why would you want to?
