Do most Americans you know really think the whole entire United Kingdom is England? Thats hilarious! Most Americans I know think the whole entire combination of the British Isles is Ireland.
Thanks Maven. I've studied the geography but always found it confusing to keep it straight. You explained it simply. I guess it's kinda like North America being made up of the United States, Mexico & Canada...then there's South America...oh well, it can all be hard to keep straight.

I know. I remember being shuttled through a year of "extension Spanish" one time for "other" reasons, and while I was reading my textbooks it hit me that English language conversations about the Spanish Language tended to forget to include the equatorial zone. Linguists talk about Spain, South America, and "Spanish in the English-Speaking World". which I think is a euphemism for the United States. I wonder what those hip hugging modern linguists think Canada speaks, I bet they think it all speaks French, which is a common "arthritis issue", like whether all of Great Britian fits into the City of London or not.
