Under Grace, Should We Continue to Sin?

Should Christians still try to obey the 10 commandments?

There are two kinds of work in the grace of God.

1. Deliverance from the most deadly sin of not knowing and believing in Jesus Christ as God Almighty or the Father; (John 8: 21-32) and
2. Constant cleansing and forgiveness of all other sins as they are committed. (Jer. 31:34; John 7: 37-39)

Congratulations if you have found another source of grace for total and one-time deliverance from all sin!

I think its important to consider the psychology of the matter. Are we saved by grace and not by deeds? Yes we are, this is true according to the New Testament; particularly as seen in Paul's writings. However, one who truly holds Jesus in his or her heart is also somebody that wants to do good and wants to obey the law because it is the right thing to do. Somebody who goes around sinning all of the time because they think it is okay; well I really doubt how close theyactually hold Jesus in their hearts.

However, one who truly holds Jesus in his or her heart is also somebody that wants to do good and wants to obey the law because it is the right thing to do.

I believe that the law was put in place to show us the futility of trying to obey it under our own strength. Only by the power of the Holy Spirit through relationship with Jesus is our sin nature brought into submission and we are saved.

Excellent post brother @B-A-C

Side note, would appreciate everyone's prayers as I'm struggling in some things that I have faith I will overcome in Jesus' strength and grace.

Thank you.

Amen in agreement. Simple truth that sums it up truthfully.

C is the correct answer: "No, God's grace covers all of our sins."

Remember, sin can't stop God's grace; God's grace stops sin. It's a supernatural phenomenon.

When we receive the Holy Spirit, the law is written on our hearts; Christ in our hearts makes us Holy.

I feel led to repeat what I said yesterday in another form. As born again Christians we defer to the Holy Spirit, NOT to the 10 commandments or any other self-righteous laws of the old covenant.

I salute grace with profound reverence, as God's grace is what gives us power over sin. It's a supernatural phenomenon that doesn't make logical sense to most Christians (by looking at the poll results).

Romans 6:14 says, "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." So, if someone says they are under grace, but continues to live a *lifestyle* of sin, the person does not understand grace at all. You'll notice for Christians that truly know and experience God's grace and the gift of no condemnation, sin and self-righteous law is the last thing on their mind.

Remember in the Bible the story of the woman caught in adultery? Jesus told her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more." (John 8:10–11) Jesus extended His grace to her by giving her the gift of no condemnation; in doing so, he empowered her to "go and sin no more". He did this because he knew that he would bear her sins on the cross. It is only when we truly have a revelation that God doesn't condemn us because Jesus was crucified in our place, that we have the power to get out of the vicious circle of sin.

Grace ALWAYS results in victory over sin.

God's peace to you.

Greetings in the Lord Jesus;

Jesus and the woman caught in adultery, and all that followed Him; was bound under the law, until the death of Jesus; then did grace abound. Amen.

Jesus tells the woman caught in adultery "neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more".
Let us go read (John 3:17,18,19,); Jesus was sent forth by God to save the world, not condemn it.

As for the original post:
I speak from self experience; I stand in all good conscience with God. Amen
I did something that was really horrible; I sinned against God; knowingly. (quiet some time ago)
Praise God for Jesus bringing forth GRACE; I understand grace.
I sat shamed and scared, in the early morning hours, sipping coffee.
I felt His presence move upon me; my heart quickened.
I heard a voice from above me say,
"You have indeed eaten of my flesh," HE laughed; "and ye shall indeed drink from my cup."
I remember I felt so small and pathetic (again), I could not lift my head for along time. And, even though, He forgives me; it took along time for me to forgive myself. Amen.
I learned a very valuable lesson; that I will not do ever again.
He has taught me so much, including, the way, the truth, and the life.
I know God is all seeing, all hearing, all knowing God.
I did not try to hide or make excuses. He told me what I had to do to free myself from the shame; and I did it. Praise God, I did it. It was not easy at all. And, when I went, I remember I felt so alone.
But, I fulfilled what I had to do; and that feeling left me and total peace and comfort was restored to me; but not until I faced the crime. Amen.
So, to anyone who has sinned against God; knowingly. You can not sweep it under the rug like it never happen. You must walk through the fire that is consuming you and face your crime.

Bless God for the true Teacher. I will never, never, never, do something so stupid again.
I have heard some say "if you have been truly saved, He will not allow you to sin."
This is a lie. It is still your choice; but once sin has happened; death is a reckoning. One must REPENT and face the crime.
Bless God for His grace, His mercy, His longsuffering, His patience, His LOVE; because a "house built with hands" would have thrown me under the bus.
Jesus counts me worthy; not me, not you, not the house made with hands; JESUS, and Jesus alone, counts me worthy; I AM worthy to suffer for His names sake. Amen.

All praise, honor, and glory be to God. Amen.

This may seem like a basic question to most of us, but it seems like whenever the subject of sin comes up, some people quickly answer, it's OK, we aren't under the law anymore. That is true, but even so, should we continue to sin?

Some verses to ponder....

Rom 6:14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God's grace.
Rom 6:15 Well then, since God's grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!
Rom 6:16 Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Rom 6:17 Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you.
Rom 6:18 Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.

John 14:15 "If you love Me, obey My commandments.

John 14:21 Those who accept My commandments and obey them are the ones who love Me. And because they love Me, My Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal Myself to each of them."

Note: I am not asking if our salvation depends on obedience, but since it doesn't "should" we continue to try to obey the law?

Of course!! Th LAW is GOD'S WILL for us. WE WILL SIN, but there's an advocate. IF we think we have a LICENSE to SIN, then we KNOW NOTHING of the Bible.
