Two things.

First, the Gateway Pundit is a notoriously unreliable source of news and information. It lives by stoking fear, anger and mistrust.

Second, the example of the Bible writers encourages us to pray for strength to endure, not for escape.

Woe to you who long for the Day of the LORD!

What will the Day of the LORD be for you?It will be darkness and not light.

It will be like a man who flees
from a lion, only to encounter a bear, or who enters his house and rests his hand against the wall, only to be bitten by a snake.

Will not the Day of the LORD
be darkness and not light,
even gloom with no brightness in it?

That is what the leftist have labeled it. Especially Wikipedia, ran by the leftists.

Paul says,”comfort one another with these words “.

Oh dear.

Another person who will cannot judge truth except by a left/right political filter.

The UK is in a very bleak place at the moment, and the BBC is compromised in it's integrity by the current government. But at least we haven't got to such a divisive point in culture wars that a news story or idea can be labelled "leftist" or "rightist" then immediately dismissed.

It seems there's little hope for constructive conversation while this is the norm. Labelling, wisdom and love dont coexist very easily.

There. You seem to be stuck in left/right thinking. Let Jesus shape your mind, not be captive to the narrow thinking set by the political and media agenda.

Don't make your first question or criteria for judgement is it left, is it right? – ask, is it wise, does it promote promote peace, justice? does it lift up the poor and broken-hearted? is it merciful? Does it reflect the values of Jesus and his kingdom?

Although I totally agree with your statement, you do normally side with the liberals on many issues and make a point to insert a defense of them on many occasions.

I've travelled quite a lot – Europe, America, India, Bangladesh, Caribbean, southern Africa, Malaysia, Korea, Pacific Islands, Myanmar. Only in the USA are there Christians who have so tightly tied their Christian identity to right wing politics that they cannot imagine how a faithful Christian might hold anything but right wing views.

Imagine Moses gaining high office and attempting to implement a bill based on Leviticus 25. How do you think the most prominent politicians and pundits would argue for or against the changes?

This will sound a little like a joke, but I'm being serious here. It depends on how much it affects them.

Here in the US the politicians in power want us to buy electric vehicles, but they all have gasoline powered motorcades and security revenues. Most have their own private jets.
They tell us to use less electricity so we won't overload the power grid, but at the same time tell us to buy electric cars.
They tell us we should have sanctuary cities and let the immigrants in, but very few of them live in these cities, and virtually all of them live in mansions in gated communities.

So it's usually do what I say, not what I do.

The other thing about Leviticus 25, was it was about fellow Jews, and often extended family members.

Lev 25:25; 'If a fellow countryman of yours becomes so poor he has to sell part of his property, then his nearest kinsman is to come and buy back what his relative has sold.
Lev 25:26; 'Or in case a man has no kinsman, but so recovers his means as to find sufficient for its redemption,

I would say conservatives are a lot more open to helping family and fellow Americans. We have more charities than any other country by far. And give more money to other counties than any other country in the world.

Some of the conservative states have started taking the illegal immigrants and busing them to the sanctuary cities in the liberal "sanctuary" cities. The cities tried to send them back. A few of them were so overwhelmed
by the resources it took to support them, that they have voted to remove their cities from the sanctuary city list.

There is an old post that went around some years ago, it's something like this ( my paraphrase )

You left there, because you didn't like it there.
You came here, because it's different, but now you want to make here like it was there.
It's fine if you come here, but don't change here.

The immigrants start riots, crime rates are higher, they burn American flags while waving their (original country) flags. This is why the sanctuary cities no longer want them.
If it was just food and shelter, and they really wanted to conform to our morals and standards, that would be different.

I'll put it more directly then. If a politician today were to try to establish the Jubilee laws today, would you vote for or against them?

That's radical redistribution of land every fifty years, a year long rest from primary economic activity eery seven years, plus abolition of interest on loans made to people in poverty.

would you vote for or against them?

If it's all or none thing, probably not. There are parts I agree with, but also parts I do not.

Lev 25:44; 'As for your male and female slaves whom you may have—you may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you.

Me too. What about the land distribution and the economic system set up to prevent generational accumulation of wealth?

I need to think about this more. Again, it seems to be an all or none thing.

I think I would be considered wealthy to some people in some countries. But here where I live, I'm considered upper middle class.
I'm all for giving to the poor, I contribute to shelters and food services. We have have "give to the poor" ministries at my church.
We have free meals, clothing, and some buildings where people can sleep.

It's been below freezing here lately, I have 8 inches of snow on the ground. It is finally starting to melt today thankfully.
But even so, we have people that refuse to go in the shelters because there are rules. You can't bring your girl-friend, or boyfriend, but you can bring your spouse if you
can prove you are legally married. You can't be drunk or bring drugs into the shelter. Because of these things some people prefer to sleep out in the snow.

There are older, disabled people who cannot work because of mental or physical limitations. I try to help them.
There are also younger people who do not want to work, they are intelligent and healthy.. but lazy. I tend not to help them.

There has to be a balance here. But in the real world, there never is. In places like China and Cuba, guess who lives in the biggest fanciest houses?
It's the same in the US. We aren't really communist yet, but those in charge generally live wealthier lives.

On one hand the rich don't want to give all their money away.
On the other hand other, some lazy people don't want to work and feel entitled that society owes them.

Surely there is a middle ground somewhere.
I don't real Leviticus 25 as a chapter that says give all you have to the poor and lazy.

I don't think God is against wealth.
Job was rich, Abraham was rich. Joseph became rich. Solomon was the richest man who ever lived. The man who loaned Jesus his tomb was rich.

Money isn't the root of all evil, the love of money is. Having money is OK, as long as your money doesn't have you.
