Contemporary Christian Music’s latest "rock-gods" are the metal-rap-rockers called P.O.D. Sporting heavily tattooed and pierced bodies, P.O.D. has completely destroyed any remaining fragments of Biblical walls of Christian separation, gospel and convictions. P.O.D has subtilty introduced and indoctrinated Christian young people to a false, anti-Jesus, religion.

NOTE:

Before I get started, let me emphasize just how popular P.O.D. is. Their album Fundamental Elements of Southtown (released Aug. 24, 1999) went platinum in two years. Their recent album Satellite (released Sept. 11, 2001) in just four weeks went platinum. In case you don't know — to receive platinum status — a record must sell a million copies. So we're dealing with a very popular band. And the great majority of their fans are Christian young people.

In this article, we’ll clearly document, P.O.D., (like much of CCM. which we have documented many times):

# Disobey the clear teachings of the Bible.
# Pervert the Lord Jesus Christ.
# Use filthy profanity in their speech.
# Proudly admit to drinking alcoholic beverages.
# Fellowship and promote openly wicked, vulgar and satanic music.
# Corrupt the pure teachings of Jesus Christ with the false religion of Rastafarianism.
# Attack Bible Believing Christians and Christianity.

Because of the seriousness and spiritual danger of P.O.D., this is a lengthy and detailed article. I would encourage you, very strongly, especially young people, parents or pastors of young people, who are listening to P.O.D. and today’s Christian Rock, to take the time and read it thoroughly and prayerfully.

We’ve tried to be honest, but plain and straight forward (2 Cor. 3.12, Matt. 5:37). We’ve documented our material.

It breaks my heart to see so many Christian young people so deceived and following these groups and their music. And P.O.D. are not alone – there are many such groups polluting so-called Christian music.

For some Christians this material will not be easy to digest. In fact, it will be very hard to read, and even harder to take action. For some it will make you angry – angry at me for telling you the truth. But as the Apostle Paul said to the Galatians:
"Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?"
Galatians 4:16

One of the primary purposes of music is to "teach and admonish one another":

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:16

I am frightened when I look out on the horizon of today’s Christianity and see openly rebellious and disobedient groups such as P.O.D., "teaching and admonishing" our young people. There are very few voices speaking out against the corruption in today’s Christian music – most are promoting and praising it.

If the Lord Jesus Christ, does not come back very soon – with the perversion, corruption, tolerance, and lack of spiritual discernment being taught in today’s Christian music, how in the world will the Christian young people of tomorrow, be able to "quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." (Ephesians 6:16)

If you are a Christian that loves the Lord Jesus Christ and your desire is to live for Him – before you begin reading this article – please pray and ask the Lord if He would help you discern the truth. He promised He would:

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

NOTE: This article was originally written as one large article, but because of the length, we divided the article into four main sections. You are strongly encouraged to read it all, each section will build upon the other. Also, because the four sections are divided, in order to provide adequate documentation, some parts my be repeated in sections.

IMPORTANT: There are parts of the section "P.O.D. AND THE WORKS OF DARKNESS" that are not recommended for some Christians. We have cleaned it up for Christian viewing, as much as possible, but because of the subject matter there are parts that some may find offensive. Thank God, so do I. But the truth needs to be told. If you are a Christian young person that listens to P.O.D you need to read it. If you are a pastor, youth worker, parent, etc. with young people involved in this type music, you definitely need to read the complete text.

It is good to see others that think like this. Righteousness is shining through the darkness. It is the ones that really have a relationship with the Lord that can see clearly and see the errors in this type of music.

Thanks for standing up for the truth. The Lord likes it when Christians hate evil as he hates evil.

The way I see it, music is an expression of the soul. The type of music people play or are into is a reflection of what is going on inside.

A beautiful inner man which can see Jesus expresses beautiful music lining up with the fruits of the Spirit.

Reading the things on the P.O.D and the Works of Darkness actually made me physically sick...What a blasphemous, ungodly culture we live in today! The spirit of the anti-christ is truly alive today. People are so caught up in the lies their told daily by the devil and they fall for it. God help them...

I'm glad someobody finally did some research on them. I just didnt feel comfortable listening to this band. I never read the interviews so I never heard their profanity, one thing though, I'd never have spotted that Rustafarianism (sp? O_O) in their lyrics. Well, any teenager who argues with that article is incredibly foolish! Facts are facts, I thank you so much for posting that ^_^

I am not sure what the discussion is about. After Doing a study on the subject and a study on all most all of P.O.D's Lyrics I find no place they talk about anything Christian.

Not, one time in any song have I seen them mention Jesus.

Most of their songs are about being blinded, or can't believe it's true. One song even talked about being shot at school. Now that is uplifting.
There is no faith in any of their music.

They make references to "The King" "The son" "Mighty One" "Zion in a few songs" ETC....... but never one mention about Jesus. I wonder who their king really is.

Scriptures will tell us though.

ronaldo: This is not about tattoo's. I understand that they are hard to remove, but how is that an excuse to tour with Kid Rock, or hang out with Howard Stern? How about Korn? Howard Stern said he had no idea they were Christians until someone told him. Now there is a good witness.

I have nothing against Christian Rock. Jeremy Camp can sound pretty crunchy at times. Like I said, Christian Rock!!!! Not the junk P.O.D peddles.

As for praying for P.O.D, why? They know what they are doing. They know they are deceiving. Any one that calls themselves a Christian, and thinks P.O.D is great, Is not listening to the Holy Ghost or never had been really born again.
It is real sure that they do not read the Word of God, or they would compare what P.O.D is singing about and compare it with the Word of truth.......

As for praying for P.O.D, why?

We do need to pray for them and their fans, someone prayed for us that's why we're here today.

I use to listen to P.O.D, and just like any other band that labels themselve christian, their evironment - mtv, awards shows, mixing with secular bands and satisfying their secular producers, will create a back lash.. Thats why I think its important for christian bands to be under christian labels.

Mel Gibson character is questionable, he produces a Christian movie we call him Christian and support him. He then gets in a drunken car accident and spills hateful things about jews..Now he himself wasn't being a good witness, and the man who Jewish scholars accused of producing a anti-Semitism film....showed his true colours that night.


Anyone can say I'm Christian, they produce a movie , a song, a book and the church runs off to buy it. We make the mistake of calling a product christian because the creator says he's Christian.


The church needs to be more selective, the best way to tell a Christian is by thier fruits.
P.OD May have thier issuses, but I'd be a liar if I said lives wasn't changed. There's no proof for me to say that change was permanent, but they got kids to go to church. If people were looking to POD for thier salvation , then there is a big problem.

If we can pray for a renewing of their minds, and for God to take over...that makes more sense then bashing them. The time these Pastors took to write bashing material on Christain rock bands, that same energry should have been spent trying to contact these bands,, invite them to their churches and witness to them.

Calling me a thief is not going to stop me from stealing, writting articles to bash me, is still not going to stop me from stealing, pushing me out of the church, is not going to stop me..An intervention of love and correction can help me, and if I reject the correction, then go write your articles, but still pray for me.

Had Mel Gibson tried to deceive people with false lies, then I would have to agree with the comparison. However, the film tried to do it's best to stay on the scripture, with a pure and honest heart.

As for P.O.D helping anyone? Well, Romans 10:14 said how will they hear if the Word is not preached?

After checking and reading though about 50 different songs P.O.D has written, none of it, I mean zero is even scriptural. They even forget one important thing that leads to Salvation. That is Jesus. No, mention of Jesus EVER!!!

So, I don't think any teenager that has ever listed to P.O.D was ever helped. There might of been some temporary, emotional discharge, but nothing like the Real Word of Life could produce.

As for praying for the teenagers, yes, I agree with that. But praying for someone that knows what they are doing, and still leading people astray with lyrics that point to something else as being god, John said we don't pray for that..........

POD, got teens to church. Whether they left stuff for the imagination.
An outsider may have wonder who the king was, but to that generation after God, they took the songs and made it for their own.
I've seen missionaries use POD music for drama, human videos or illistration.

I've seen the impact, I'm from that generation like I said those who came to Christ, I'm not there with them to see if they are still walking in the light.


Like I said just because someone claim to be a christian doesn't always mean their products are Christian.

I've seen churches use songs from U2, Linkin park, Creed ( secular bands ) for dramas, yes in the church.

No he didn't, he got permission from the pope, there was no deception there. He was being true to himself and his traditonal beliefs. The only difference is he added a some scripture, while staying true to himself and his resources. He wasn't inspired by the bible thats a fact.

Just like Pod is being true to themselve and whatever is their beliefs.

I not sticking up for POD...I'm just saying the point of the church is to help set the captives free by bringing them to Jesus. I'm shock that you think we need to be selective.

If people like POD have influence over youths, then the best thing to do is help them. When we walk away or gossip about them, people are still lost.

Mel was the best person to compare them with.
Anyone can call something Christian include a few stories lines from the bible or none at all..and the church will promote it

I guess, now that I am thinking more about it, I have seen God use some silly things, and even seemingly Bad things for his purpose. Jesse Duplantis was at a bar when the light came on for him.

I would rather give the glory to God though and not to any evil Work. P.O.D is blatantly Satanic.

I have no issue with that Crunchy Sound, Of speed at which the song plays. I used to be heavy in to Thrash metal, and anything that played really fast. This is just deception though. Why do we need to resort to the tools of Satan, to lure our youth to God?
There are way to many churches today with no anointing that convicts and destroys yokes, using worldly tactics to bait the young. Devoid of Power. You should see our youth group at church. They are strong in the Lord, and strong in anointing. They would never even consider P.O.D being a Christian anything.

Nobody is bashing P.O.D. They are what they are by choice, they know what they are doing, and reject the authority of God's word.

It reminds me of that so called Christian Band Switchfoot. The band was quoted saying that they do not want to be labeled as a Christian band. Well, at least they are honest.

Metallica, Korn, ETC........... are great bands, they don't try to deceive you in to thinking they are anything else but worldly and Satanic. P.O.D and bands like them do, and it's a dangerous deception.

Who calls P.O.D. christian? Just because they have Jesus' picture on the background at their concerts, they dont become christian. I've seen their music videos-they're totally secular. I see only obscure christian ideas in their songs, which will obviously not help anyone...And about the Tattoo and stuff,nah,I guess God will accept you with it.No issues on that. And Rock music is good,but P.O.D is not a part of the Christian scene. My favorite Christian rock bands or artistes are- Sonicflood, Disciple, Hillsong United, Rebecca. ST. James....

It's actually kind of funny. The only Christian musician I've ever in my life seen stand up to worldly values and defend Christianity is Dave Mustaine. Not a perfect Christian, but the guy has sunstance.

I'd also like to add. As for taking your own interpretation of a song and making it your own. That is not good. I could find plenty of christian interpretations in Cradle of Filth, Slipknot, Arch Enemy et al, but that doesnt make it right. It is what it it, which is a deception. And this deception will lead you away from God. Not only this, but when you start looking into Rustafarianism and how its message is reinforced in nearly every song, it is plain to see they are not Christian. So many people call themselves Christian and people fall for it, they take this stuff at face value. Why would a Christian band be accepted at a venue with hardcore Satanists? Short answer is, they wouldnt be. That they can fit so well into that scene is very disturbing. We are supposed to be the salt of the earth, different. I see none of these things in POD and alot of so called Christian bands. It's amazing how diluted our christian values have become. We've Westerners have had it good, but now the time is coming where our beliefs are going to be put to the test. Who do you think these teens are going to side with, God ot their so called Christian heroes? It's sadly looking very bad.
