What about P.O.D.?

This topic

Wow, this topic still alive?

funny how P.O.D never mentions Jesus, gives glory to the Lord in any song.

Always sings about being confused or something about Zion, or blinded.

Never any faith in their songs.

Hangs out with known Anti-christian Bands.

If you think P.O.D is a christian band, then you need to get saved so the Holy Ghost can point you in the right direction.

Jesus Is Lord.

Woah...
My heart really is tugged by this POD band.

Quite honestly, I listen to POD on occasion. Not so much now because my style of music is more like Skillet, Project 86, Jeremy Camp, Ever Stay Red, Hawk Nelson... most of POD style of music isn't my thing. However, in their defense, someone said they do not have any christian or biblical lyrics, but it's quite the contrary.

Example: Song: Coming Back

He's coming back
He's coming back for me and you
He's coming back for me and you
He's coming back for me and you
It's the low down
The show down
Brother ready to throw down

No need for us to go down
The truth is what we know how
That we have life through my Lord Jesus Christ
No one can love you more
Than to do the things thath he did
So give him your pass
So that he can start to mold ya
Full-Fledged dedicated
Hardcore christian soldier
Spiritual war it's a spiritual bout
And we're the first ones in P.O.D.
And we're th last ones out

He's coming back
He's coming back for me and you

2nd Example: Song Name: Three In The Power Of One

Souls black as
But it's nothing for the children of God to fight
We wrestle not with flesh and blood
But with the principalities of darkness
So put on your armor of God
For the day of battle will come
But the victory is already ours
Through Christ in the power of one
The Power of Christ

Surrounded by the angels of God
Step to the realm where evil reigns
We are soldiers prepared for war
With the power to speak his name
Satan with his legion of demons
Deceiving with his wicked ways
With his life he has paid
With his word I will slay
Any demon that steps in my way
So bring it on
Bring it on

It's the P.O.D. on the mic rockin' the set
In case you didn't know Payable On Death
Making suckers drop, kick'n non stop
The hard rock'n thrash, with a little hip hop
Four christians brother on a roll, there we go
Coming up hard, but you know we got soul
I'm strapped, yes we're packed, and it's about time
Jesus got my back P.O.D.'s on the frontline

Three in the power of one, three in the power of one
Three in the power of one, three in the power of one
Three in the power of one, three in the power of one
Three in the power of one, three in the power of one

Example 3: Messenjah
I message, written in rhyme, prophetic
Teachers amongst the skeptics and guiding the misdirected
Infected with their lies and their alibis
With their third eye blind, out of line, they try to prophesy
I and I unfold the mysteries told
From the futuristic realms to the days of old
Make straight through the path of the one voice calling
Truth shines, back again two times in the Second Coming

I am the Messenjah (4x)

(Chorus:)
This I pledge, and I’ll take it to my death
I’ll lay my life down for you and die over again
I and I, I’m not ashamed of the Most High
Even if I die tonight, if I die tonight
This I pledge, and I’ll take it to my death
You can bet your life on my words and everything I said
You can’t take away my love for this sacrifice
Even if I die tonight, if I die tonight

True king descendant, master to the apprentice
Pleased to release and reveal in me His presence
Forever blessed, I believe if Jah said it
The word of life came alive in the scriptures – I read it
All hail, we prevail, the Tribes of Israel, flow through ya
We pursue the conquering lion of the Tribe of Judah
Don’t let ‘em fool ya, before this, the foolish get rushed
So don’t slop, you never knew us
********************************

Final Example: Song: Set Your Eyes To Zion

Back in the day when man he paved the way
Fell in temptation, sin spread through the nation
Lead me salvation, and pierce the palms of holy hands
Who is the son of man? Take me to the promised land
Where I and I free, Jah set my mind at ease
I stay cool in the shade even at 96º?
You must believe and plant this seeds of wisdom
Stick to the track and don't be trapped by Babylon
Set your eyes to Zion
Jah Jah people ride on

Forgive them Lord, for they not know
That what they do, people blame it on you
Can't understand why dem so mad
Dem heart get cold, empty with no soul
I've begun to search for One
Giver of life, I and I recognize
To be with you, forever I'll be with you
In paradise, Zion I set my eyes

Set your eyes to Zion
Jah Jah people ride on

Tell me Mr. Deadman?
Do you have the answer?
How do you get to heaven?
Do you have the answer?
Hey Mr. Deadman
I'll tell you if you want to know
How you can get to heaven?
Believe in I Jah Jah son

Set your eyes to Zion
Jah Jah people ride on

I really hope that these were read through your spiritual eyes. FOr someone to call them out about not being Christian, but they sing about Christ and biblically based lyrics.

In my humble opinion, I feel that they have been placed in an extreme world (musically) and an honorable position in which they can minister to those who listen to secular music that promotes death and deception.

I think instead of us bashing them and passing judgement, we should read the fine print from the CD cover on who they give props to first. They always give glory and thankfulness to God, their families and all those who make their ministry possible.

Instead of us passing judgement on this band, based on our opinions and what we "think", we should be praying for them since they are coming up against a spiritual battle in the lands of secular music.

Music is very powerful, God given, and carries us emotionally as well as spiritually. I'd much rather have people who like this style of music listen to POD who atleast sings of scripture and Jesus in a positive way, rather than Rob Zombie who sings of witchcraft and murder.
Just because it's in a format of which one puckers sour for, doesn't mean they are not Christian and doesn't mean we should be directing young folk to NOT listen to it based on opinion.
Fact is, the songs they sing are biblical, scriptural, and real life based. I bolded out some area's of lyrics to help you see, they DO sing about Christ in their songs, and they DO speak truth. :)

Ok, thats all :)

Yeah, I was pretty sure I knew of lyrics where they professed Christian faith. But being that I've never listened to much of their music, I bowed out of the fight. :)

Good finds BF75.

I have a hard time arguing against something that has brought people to the Lord, no matter my tastes. I happen to think that some types of music out there could be called "transitional" Christian rock, for those on the outside looking in. Not so appreciated by some who are already in.

However, my knowledge of this particular band is very limited, so I cannot affectively argue either side of this specific case.

Regarding the point of them using profanity in an interview, shame on them for doing so, especially with the responsibility that comes with being in a high profile role in ministry. That should never happen. However, this does not mean that they are not Christian. Can anyone say with certainty that they have not repented? They are still human, not perfect. That's why they need Christ the same way that we all do.

I haven't heard their interview, and yes it would be very shocking to have seen this profanity. That is why they need our prayers more than our judgement. The way I see it is God has provided a way for them to be in the world, not of the world. They are able to play music that can minister to those whom even some preachers shun from church. Honestly.

We just have to becareful what WE say and what WE do because by us judging them based on a bad word said or an action that might portray to be unGodly based on our interpretation of God's Holy Word, holding them in a higher stance, makes us more guilty of sin than anyone else. We have to know exactly what we are placing judgement on before we speak. We have to research everything. Yes, we are to use wisdom and discernment in what is Godly and what is right and true. There is evidence in the lyrics that they do speak truth and open the alter to anyone who listens.

Ok, I have to head off to work now. We are preparing to see 330 patients in 3 days the first week of December, we have ALOT of tasks to complete before then.
I pray everyone has a blessed morning noon and night!
