I have found some very interesting news about the NIV.........VERY ALARMING! BUT VERY TRUE~~ THEY LEAVE OUT SCRIPTURES! ANYONE THAT USES THE NIV PLEASE TAKE THIS TEST FOR YOURSELF.

1. FILL IN THE MISSING WORDS IN MATTHEW 5: 44. "LOVE YOUR EMENIES, _______________THEM THAT CURSE YOU, _________ TO THEM THAT HATE YOU,, AND PRAY FOR THEM THAT ___________AND PERSECUTE YOU."

2. ACCORDING TO MATTHEW 17: 21, WHAT TWO THINGS ARE REQUIRED TO CAST OUT THIS TYPE OF DEVIL?

3. ACCORDING MATTHEW 18: 11, WHY DID JESUS COME TO EARTH?

4. ACCORDING TO MATTHEW 27: 2, WHAT WE PILATE'S FIRST NAME?

5. IN MATTHEW 27: 35, WHEN THE WICKED SOLDIERS PARTED HIS GARMENTS, THEY WERE FULFILLING THE WORDS OF THE PROPHET. COPY WHAT THE PROPHET SAID IN MATTHEW 27: 35 FROM THE NIV.

6. IN MARK 3: 15, JESUS GAVE THE APOSTLES POWER TO CAST OUT DEVILS AND TO: ???

7.ACCORDING TO MARK 7: 16, WHAT DOES A MAN NEED TO BE ABLE TO HEAR?

8. ACCORDING TO LUKE 7: 28, WHAT WAS JOHN, ( TEACHER, PROPHET, CARPENTER, ETC.) WHAT IS HIS TITLE OR NAME??

9. IN LUKE 9: 55, WHAT DID THE DISCIPLES NOT KNOW?

10. IN LUKE 9: 56, WHAT DID THE SON OF MAN NOT COME TO DO? ACCORDING TO THE VERSE, WHAT DID HE COME TO DO?

THESE ARE JUST TEN, TO START WITH, PLEASE IF YOU HAVE OR USE THE NIV VERSION OF THE BIBLE, LOOK FOR YOURSELF, HERE IS ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT VERSE CONCERNING THE DIETY OF CHRIST~~ 1 TIMOTHY 3: 16, WHO WAS MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH??

I AM NEW ON THIS SITE, AND AM HONORED TO BE A PART OF YOU ALL IN CHRIST JESUS~~ THESE ARE THINGS I HAVE FOUND TO BE TRUE, BY SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURES, AND WANTING TO KNOW WHICH VERSION OF THE BIBLE IS UNALTERED WORD OF GOD! I BELIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS GUIDED ME TO THIS INFORMATION, AND I WANT TO SHARE IT WITH YOU. I WAS A FAITHFUL NIV USER, MATTER OF FACT~~ I HAVE 2 I WAS USING. NOW I FEEL LIKE IT HAS TAKEN AWAY FROM OUR LORDS PRECIOUS WORD, EVEN IF THERE ARE REFERENCES TO SCRIPTURES IN THE FOOTNOTES. THOSE NEW CHRISTIANS READING WOULDN'T KNOW THAT, AND IT IS JUST NOT RIGHT! SO WITH CONVICTION IN MY HEART~~ I NO LONGER USE THE NIV VERSION OF THE BIBLE.... THERE ARE MORE VERSES HERE THEY HAVE LEFT OUT I CAN GIVE YOU, BUT I DONT HAVE TIME RIGHT NOW. I ALSO HAVE INFORMATION ON THE NEW KINGS JAMES VERSION, I WILL POST LATER WHEN I CAN.......I NOW USE NO OTHER WORD THAN THE "AUTHORIZED KING JAMES" VERSION OF THE BIBLE, I TRUST NO OTHER!! THIS IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME~~ REV. 22: 18, 19

18. FOR I TESTIFY UNTO EVERY MAN THAT HEARETH THE WORDS OF THE PROPHECY OF THIS BOOK, IF ANY MAN SHALL ADD UNTO THESE THINGS, GOD SHALL ADD UNTO HIM THE PLAGUES THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK.

19. AND IF ANY MAN SHALL TAKE AWAY FROM THE WORDS OF THE BOOK OF THIS PROPHECY, GOD SHALL TAKE AWAY HIS PART OUT OF THE BOOK OF LIFE, AND OUT OF THE HOLY CITY, AND FROM THE THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK.

AMEN!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, I PRAY YOU WILL TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK THESE UP IN YOUR NIV, AND SEE FOR YOURSELF, WHAT THEY LEFT OUT!!

which bible?

I use a new king james. Never used a niv, I just don't like it. My hubby uses it all the time. So does my childrens school. It does not leave out enough to really change the text. It was just taken from a different original text. It is in harmony with the rest of Scripture. It won't lead anyone astray. It's minsters to a lot of people. I still don't like it.

I read the NKJV it was the bible a friend gave me before i believed in Jesus and it is the one that made me believe in Jesus. I also often reference the KJV.

I never touch the NIV.

All Praise The Ancient of Days

I am presently reading the bible on line so get to see a lot of versions at one time. Not really sure which I like or don't like.

I love my King James one.. Its is so beautifull and poetic.. The thees and thous are just noun identifers.. to show who is being spoken too. thats all

I allso have the Amplified bible and expands what is being said.. I really love that..

I have a condordance and I go online to use a lexicon to see what the greek definitions really mean and their origins.. a must for indepth bible study

While I dont follow the King James only thought.. It does disturb me of the textual differences between other verisons.. and missing words..

I have copies of most bible translations and once in awhile I do use them for help on passages... but I defer to my King James for the final authority..

In love

Kevin

I use the NIV most. I find it the easiest to understand without being too watered down. I have the KJV, the NLT, and the Message as well. I read them all, but I use the NIV most for study and stuff like that.

I read almost all of them but my favorites are Contemporary English version, New Living translation and the Message. I also study the Hebrew and Greek text along with the Martin Luther version 1834 and the Geneva Bible 1599

I started with the NIV...then I went to the KJV to the NKJV to NIV again...

I don't think it really matters what version you read though. The Bible is the Bible and as long as you can understand the Word.

I sometimes read the new transalated version of the Bible in English, but ussually I read the Bible in Russian. As far as I know there's only one version of that. I mean there is an older version with old Russian letters they don't teach us kids these days, but I stick to my Russian Bible, I understand it most, but sometimes I compare the english to it, and there are some differences. well ok, i'll write again soon.

I also use NLT same as you O2BLikeU but also use KJV and NIV
We do need to cross reference, especially with the NLT although I do really like it very much.
Also have Strongs Concordance, and use Daily Devotionals, love them.

I only read the KJV. I got a big big version in my bed, the papers are falling out tho, because i sometimes sleep on it. Gotta buy a new one, gonna cost me 20 bucks tho:thumbs_do

I think all bibles should be free, but thats another story.

I read the New centuary version, i feel that it is inportant to select a bible that you can easily read and understand.
At our church some of the other members say thatall readings should be taken from the KJV. This is ok if you can understand old english, but it can be hard to understand, and even harder for those who are just starting out as a christian.

Like most here I also use many translations I perfer to read in NIV and then I read the others to get more of an understanding. I also have two different study bibles. Also use a computer program. Oh and Legandary I know that if you came to my church they would give you a King James for free. ( I think alot of churches do) So if anyone in true need of a bible you can go to a local church and ask a Pastor about getting one.

KJV...it stood the test of time through many centuries, until man decided to "water down, make it easier to read, remove specific topics and make lots of money at the same time." Ever wonder why there are so many new versions coming up every time you turn around??? We can write our own version, as well. It has become a money making racket. It is hard to find a KJV in most Christian bookstores because they want to push the ones that bring in the most money or will add to your collection of none inspired versions. The KJV is usually the most expensive to buy, so many settle for the other versions instead. I like the KJV reference in 2 Peter 1:21, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake(and wrote:my emphasis)[I]as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Even the KJV, that we now use is not the original where it was completely written in old English, but I think it will continue to stand the test of time... when we get to Heaven, we can ask the Lord which one He preferred for us to use. BTW...have they changed the Strong's Concordance to accomodate the words in the other translations or explain why so many have been changed/left out? Just food for thought!!!

Well brother, I use most of the times the Tyndale Version or the Living Bible Version. But as others, I use almost every version like the Amplified Version, NKJV, and others. I use almost every version depending where I will be blessed, meaning where that verse will be heartfelt to me, like rhema to me.
God bless us and Peace is with us.

I used to read KJV most of the time til i got the New Kng James. But I love the amplifed. I read several translations and compare them. But with KJV you can go back to the orignal greek and Hebrew for research.

I, like most, use many versions of the Bible. Message, NIV, KJV, etc...

But I'd love to get my hands on the "ORIGINAL" version that was inspired by the Holy Spirit. You know, the one that has been referenced in several replies to this topic. Only problem with that is, the original is not a book, but rather several books, and manuscripts. None of which were written in english. Three languages were used. Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic. The KJV was translated into 'english' using the english of the time period. In other words, they translated "verily" from the Greek word meaning "truly", and if you were to write the Bible today you would translate "truly" from the Greek word meaning "truly".

"Verily, I say unto you..." OR "Truly, I say to you..." Both verses translated into english from the Greek. Both MEAN the same thing. If you were in 14th century england the 1st would be how you spoke, but today, the 2nd is how we speak. So it makes sense to translate the Greek/Hebrew/Aramaic into the english we speak now. Which is exactly what they did to create the KJV!

As long as whatever version you are reading says that "Jesus is the way into heaven", I think you have a pretty good book in front of you. :shade:

God bless,
Nigh

More responses please.

I decided to put on my to do list a partnership possiblity with one of the great major Christian organizations such as BGEA or so to hand out free copy of the Bible, one per month as a contest.

I'll just need to decide what the contest may be. It may be based on possibilities "chances" or a game of some sort.

I read the ESV mostly I have this really neat little pocket sized one it is great to take to church etc...

Looking from my seat to my shelf I count 6 other versons so I guess I read more than one myself, NIV, NKJV, NIV-childrens (handy for kids miniestry), a CEV, a Good News and a KJV.

I really like the ESV because it is a literal word for word, I have read some stuff by some members of the translation team that put the ESV together and I really liked where they were comming from so I switched from the NKJV to the ESV as my main bible.

Of course I am in a house with more bibles and more translations of the bible than I could count. Dad's Greek and hebrew interlinier bible is always fun and there is this 1912 publication of the KJV with mathew henry's concordence published in with the text which is just cool (it is in three huge volumes, and was orrigonaly pressented to the dean of one of the local cathedrals by a bishop_ I really not sure how we come to have it).
