What's the meaning of the "Triune God"?

There are many things we don't know about God. There are mysteries we will likely never know this side of heaven.

But there are things that are pretty spelled out in the Bible about God.
Who is the creator?

Some simply believe God is God. Many Muslims will tell you that Allah simply means God.
Some will even tell you that it's the same God that Christians believe in.
Mormons say they believe in God.
Jehovahs witnesses say they believe in God.
.. of course their are many others that say they believe in God.. or at least a god of sorts ...
The earth mother .. the spirit of ohm... or whatever god....
Then there is the God of the Bible... He is not any of the gods listed above.
How do we know this? Because of what the Bible tells us, versus what they tell us about their God.

Jehovah's witnesses and Muslims don't believe in the trinity. They say Jesus is not God, so therefore
their god is not the same God I worship. The Bible warns frequently ( over 100 times) about worshiping false gods.

Mormons believe that Jesus was once a human man that became a god, in fact we can all become gods.
So they don't worship the same God I worship either.

If we don't define who God is... at least partially (mostly?) from the Bible. Then any god can be god.
Yes, we can share God in love. (That's the way it should be)
But when people reject the God of the Bible there is no salvation.

There are two kinds of people teaching this... the immature, ignorant and those who don't know better.
We can reprove them and correct them in love.

The other kind are purposefully teaching this, they consider themselves mature in their doctrine and
refuse to change their teachings no matter how Biblically unsound it is.
We are told to have nothing to do with these people.. We are told to silence them.

If we don't define who God is... at least partially (mostly?) from the Bible. Then any god can be god.

When someone defines God, whether he is right or he is wrong, it does not change who God is or what He requires or expects. When someone remains silent on the issue (that is he doesn't attempt to specifically define God), it also does not change who God is.

Our input or lack thereof, will not change God's Truth. Sometimes God wants us to speak and sometimes He does not. For ourselves, we are accountable to God on this, but not for other people's mouths...

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" Ecc 3:1

"...a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;" Ecc 3:7

God's time rather than man's!

Dear @jennifer

Both Brothers in Christ Jesus @amadeus2 and @B-A-C have used scripture in support of the Deity of Jesus.

I am most curious how you have received as well as considered the responses done in postings 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 in support of Jesus being God?

Brothers and sisters, could you please tell me what the Holy father is, what the Holy Son is, and what the Holy Spirit is?

In the Bible, when does God testify that he’s the Holy Fatheror he has a Holy Son? Before Jesus came, did God mention about the Holy Father?Who says that God in Heaven has three Personsand some day the Holy Son will come to earth? God has never testified that he’s the Holy Father and he has a Holy Son.The God in Heaven has never testified like that.

The “Trinity” came into being after God was incarnated. Before that, there was no such saying of the “Trinity,” nor the saying of three Spirits. The “Triune God” comes from man’s imagination and reasoning. This is because the God in Heaven, before God was incarnated, had never said he has three Spirits, that is, the Holy Father, the Holy Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is a fact. When Jehovah God appeared to Moses, he didn’t say that God has three Spirits, that is, the Holy Father is one Spirit, the Holy Son is one Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is another Spirit, and that the three Spirits in one is God Godself. At that time, the Lord Jesus didn’t say that God is “triune,” nor did the Holy Spirit testify that God has three Spirits. Besides, in Revelation,

John didn’t say that God has three Spirits, right? Since God didn’t say that he is “triune”and the Holy Father didn’t say it, nor did the Holy Son or the Holy Spirit say it,where did the saying of the “Trinity” come from? Who reasoned it out?Is it tenable?

Since we believe in God,we need to measure whether these matters are in accordance with the truth according to God’s words, but not according to our reasoning and imagination.

Brothers and sisters, do you agree that Jehovah is Spirit? Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and his substance is Spirit. Isn’t the Holy Spirit still Spirit?Actually, they are one Spirit. Why are they said to be three Spirits? The whole religious world has been talking about the Trinity, but no one can explain it clearly. They are always self-contradictory and haven’t found a correct answer until now.

Do you agree?

Almighty God says

Almighty God’s words clearly tell us: Jehovah is God’s Spirit, and Jesus is the incarnated flesh of God’s Spirit. They are one Spirit in substance. God has only one Person, that is, God’s Spirit. There is only one God and only God’s Spirit. God is the only true God and he doesn’t have three Persons. The saying of the “Triune God” doesn’t exist.

This aspect is also mentioned in another passage if God’s word.

This is God’s personal utterance. Only God’s word has authority and power. Only God can explain the truth of things clearly and no created being can explain God’s things clearly. Only God can explain clearly God Godself and God’s work. So, man’s notion can’t represent the truth and man’s imagination doesn’t stand for the true fact. God is the only true God. The “Triune God” is man’s notion.

You quote a book written by man, against words quoted directly from the Holy Bible.

To you which holds precedence?

Good morning Jennifer;

I appreciate your words, but what Scriptural evidence did you use for a determination that we are wrong? I'll give you an example from a chap who shares the same POV as you, and is taken from his Bible Studies website. His point is made using Scripture, and his point is that God came down from Heaven and died on the cross. He did not send another and nor did his flesh send another. God is all three. This published sermon is titled, "The "jesus" of the trinity is NOT the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible!"

There is only one God and He is ONE person, not three, and his name is Jesus. Sadly, there are many who are not worshiping the Jesus of the Bible, who, according to the scripture IS the everlasting Father. These poor souls are worshiping a figment of carnal human imagination, a man made "Jesus", that is a separate person from God, or just merely a part of God. In their vain imagination they mold their "Jesus" to fit their personal concepts, they manufacture a fable of a "Jesus" that will just overlook unrepented sins and just take any and everything into heaven.

They confuse emotional titillations with spiritual activity...They prefer dewey eyed fables over the Word of God.

An idol need not be a manmade "icon" or statue; a mental concept can also be an idol god, just as much as a statue of a golden calf. It has always been the carnal nature to manufacture a god that fit rather than measuring up to a true Godly standard.

A person worshiping the catholic trinity, might as well worship rocks, or goats, or dogs or trees; they are basing their religion on a figment of human imagination, rather than the God of the Bible.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Isaiah 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Isaiah 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

The trinity requires two other separate persons here.

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

(Notice it says HIM not THEM)...

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

(Jesus IS the Almighty)....
Isaiah 43:3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, sayeth the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither
shall there be after me.
Isaiah 43:11 I, [even] I, [am] the LORD; and beside me [there is] no saviour.

(God came to earth to be the saviour)....

Isaiah 45:21 Tell ye, and bring [them] near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? [who] hath told it from that time? [have] not I the LORD? and [there is] no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; [there is] none beside me.

(Trinity says there are three persons here)...

Hosea 13:4 Yet I [am] the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for [there is] no saviour beside me.

(God is the only savior)....

John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father?

(Of course Jesus IS the Father, come to be the saviour)...

Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

("Which faith are you?" ever heard that?)...

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

(Jesus has always been Alpha and Omega)...

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace.

(This says that the child to be born is The Mighty God)

Jer 16:20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no Gods?"

Deut 4:35 Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the Lord he is God; there is none else beside him.

Deut 4:39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath; there is none else.

Deut 32:39 See now that I, even I, am he, and THERE IS NO GOD WITH ME: I kill, and I make alive; I wound and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the Lord, the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last, and BESIDE ME THERE IS NO GOD.

Isaiah 44:24 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens ALONE; that spreadeth abroad the
earth BY MYSELF;

Isaiah 45:5 カ I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

I Tim 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

I John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down HIS LIFE for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet HAST THOU NOT KNOWN ME, Phillip? HE THAT HATH SEEN ME HATH SEEN THE FATHER; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

I hope this helps...[/unquote]

This is what the troops are requesting. You need evidence to support your words.

["jennifer, post: 266414, member: 30949"]When I started believe in God, I asked this question so many times, "what is 'Trinity'?", "what's that mean?"
I found the answer now! Thank God. I must share to you guys:)

The saying of the “triune God” was established in the Council of Nicaea in AD 300s. At that time, the religionists from different countries argued fiercely about God’s unicity and multiplicity. Eventually, according to man’s notion, imagination, reasoning and logic, the saying of the “triune God” was established. From then on, people thought that there is God the Father in Heaven except the Lord Jesus.

First we should know cleanly that such a saying was not spoken by God. The prophets and apostles didn’t say that, much less did the Holy Spirit ever reveal that. If there were such a saying, it must have been recorded in the Bible. It was completely concluded by corrupt mankind. Therefore, such a saying of the “Triune God” was from man’s mouth and was completely man’s will.

We can search the Bible. In the Old Testament Age of the Law, there wasn’t such a saying of the “trinity” at all. Only after the Lord Jesus was incarnated and came to the earth did the saying of “Father and Son” come into being.

It is recorded in John, Philip didn’t know God. He thought that the Lord Jesus had a God the Father in heaven. So he said to the Lord Jesus, “ Lord, show us the Father…” The Lord Jesus corrected his mistake. The Lord said, “he that has seen me has seen the Father…” The Lord also said, “I am in the Father, and the Father in me …” The Father is the Son and the Son is the Father, “Father and Son” are one and are one Spirit. The Lord Jesus clearly tells us that he and the Father are one.

Someone said that the Father and the Son. They are one being, but their Persons are different. Didn’t Jesus call the God in heaven Father in his prayers?

There is the answer of God’s word. .

About the saying of the Father and the Son. They are one being, but their Persons are different. What does the Lord Jesus mean about the Father and the Son? There is the answer of God’s word.

God’s word explains it very clearly. At that time when Jesus prayed, he called God’s Spirit in heaven Father in the position of a created being, that is, a man. But it doesn’t prove that Jesus is the Son of God’s Spirit in heaven. Before the Lord Jesus went to the cross, he was only the Son of man and the Christ, but was not a glorious body. So, the Lord Jesus called the God in heaven Father in the position of a created being, that is the flesh called the Spirit Father. It shows the Lord Jesus’ humbleness and obedience.

Also, God said,

We can see that, there is only one God. When God is incarnated, he has the substance of divinity. After the flesh finishes his work and returns to the spiritual realm, he has God’s original identity. Jesus incarnate is the flesh God’s Spirit is realized in, and his substance is still Spirit. So, there is only God. Just because God is incarnated, there such a saying of “Father” and “Son”. However, it only means that the incarnated God calls the Father in the position of a created being. Anyhow, the saying of “Father and Son” is only applicable to the years when Jesus was incarnated. After Jesus left, there no longer such a saying of “Father and Son.” Therefore, we shouldn’t regard God as a “Triune God” because of the saying of “Father and Son.” This is untenable.
God has never said that he is triune. When Jesus said, “ baptizing then in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost,” it means that people could be baptized in the name of the Father, in the name of the Holy Spirit, or in the name of the Son. At that time, many people had grave doubts about Jesus. If they had been certain that Jesus was the incarnated God, they could have been baptized in Jesus’ name. This is because Jesus is the Father, and the Father and the Son are one.[/QUOTE]

Jennifer how did u come to understand , that there is only one God?
Not no 3 persons as the Trinity teaches.

What's the meaning of the "Triune God"?
Holy father, Holy son and the Holy spirits? Are there three Gods?
Please solve this question:( I really don't understand..

To deny the deity of Jesus, is a cult teaching.
Jesus is not a created being. Jesus didn't become God after He died on the cross.
Jesus was God before creation even existed.

Who created the heavens and the earth? ( Gen 1:1; )
Is this the same God is Col 1:16; and John 1:3; is this the Father? or Jesus?

Agreed. God the Father calls Jesus, the Son, God:

Hebrews 1:8-9: But of the Son He says,

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
And the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.
“You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness above Your companions.”

Jesus is God the Son, the second person of our triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
