Where Are They?

I believe that God has anointed prophets for the 21st century church, though these prophets are not in the mode of the Old Testament. Clearly, John the Baptist was the last of the OT prophets.
There may not be "new" revelation from God, but there are new generations of believers coming along to whom all of His revelation is new. Also, many of us who have been in the faith for awhile are fast forgetters. We need to have God's prophetic Word repeated to us regularly Therefore, we still need prophets in the church.

Where were the prophets before 9\11?

Why wasn't the church warned in grand
measure as the prophets of God are to
'shout' and put the trumpet to the lips?

Ezekiel 33:6: But if the watchman see the sword
come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people
be not warned; if the sword come, and take any
person from among them, he is taken away in his
iniquity; but his blood will I require at the
watchman's hand.

Many Christians, our brothers and sisters in
Christ 'died' in that horriffic attack!

Why were they not in the streets across
America expressing God's voice of His
Mind and judgement concerning His people!
2Chron.7:14.

Where were they on Christian t.v. proclaiming
because of the 'sin' and evil in this country
that calls itself 'Christian'?

Why wasn't a prophetic voice 'screaming' of
impending judgement that God allowed?

We had a prayer meeting the Friday before
and I saw the whole thing, from start to
finish!

Another 'respected' brother on this site, pmed
me and told me God showed him the same vision!

Are we prophets then? I've prophesied in the gift
of 'prophecy' for many years.

But the Word of God, His revealed Word, has
'always' come from my mouth and could be
checked by scripture!

I didn't ask for it, it was given to me by God
through His Spirit. 1Cor.12:8-10.

So where are the prophets of these last days
hiding? Where's the 'school' of the prophets?!

People for years have told me that I was a 'true'
prophet of God,

I got a teachable spirit, show me where true prophets
are in the church, have been validated by the
Holy Spirit and I'll repent and accept only if it is'proved'
by the Word of God.

1Th:5:21: Prove all things;hold fast that which is good.

Coconut is right! There are a lot of 'nuts' out there
dressing strange, going into some weird trance
and blurting out some 'abstract' so-called 'prophecy'!

And they are hardly ever are checked out and proven
as from God or not!

1Cor.14:29: Let the prophets speak two or three, and
let the other judge.

1Cor.14:32: And the spirits of the prophets are subject
to the prophets.

There's an old Christian saying, "They went but they
weren't sent!"

There always loners, misunderstood, 'mean', misquote,
scripture and are 'always' 'outside' the body of Christ,
trying to get in with a spirit of 'intimidation' and fear
to take over the autority of the pastor!

They almost always 'prophesy' things that 'tickle' the
ears, never anything 'unpleasant'.

Isa:30:9: That this is a rebellious people, lying children,
children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

Isa:30:10: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the
prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto
us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

Isa:30:11: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the
path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

No wonder Jesus constantly warned us about 'false'
prophets. Why didn't He ever mention that 'real
prophets would flourish and bring God's Word to
a new generation of believers in these last days?

All they have to do is study, meditate and 'eat' God's
Word, that's all the 'revelatiuon' they will ever need!

Psalms:138:2: I will worship toward thy holy temple,
and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy
truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above
all thy name. 2Tim.3:16,17.

I understand what you are saying Set Free, but this could be said about all of the ministry gifts. Where are the true Pastors? Where are all the true Evangelist? Where are the true Teachers? Many of the so- called pastors today are hirelings and to prove it would be simple take away their paycheck and most would leave and go somwhere else. most of them are a bunch of control freaks. They love you as long as as you dance to their song. So does that mean that the function of Pastor is no more? Ofcourse not, I have met several true pastors, evangelists and teachers.

Ephesians 4:11-13
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

If you want to see these Gifts at work you have to look in the right place. They are operating within the Body of Christ. Not within a manmade system of religious liturgy and ceremony. The system is full of professional profiteers and glory hounds posing as true ministery gifts. If you really want to find these ministry gifts at work, look for those who are servants and not those who are being served.

Jesus said that John the Baptist was a true Prophet. He even said that none was greater than John. Where did the people go to see him? Did they go to the temple or the synagogue? No they had to go out to the wilderness, the desert. God had called John to walk and minister in a fashion that was contrary to the do's and dont's of the religious system of his day. John should have failed and in the eyes of the pharisees he did. He didn't follow their rules and suggestions, he didn't go to any of their schools for training. Yet he did exactly what God called him to do and he was the greatest prophet until Jesus.

So how will we know or recognize these ministry gifts? The same way you recognize a true brother or sister in Christ, by the witness of the Holy Spirit and the fruit that comes from being connected with Christ. Just as the spiritual gifts are the Holy Spirit, the ministry gifts are Christ Jesus. To forbid speaking in tongues is resisting the Holy Spirit. Likewise to forbid any of the ministry gifts is to resist Christ. May God be quick to give us healing and wisdom to receive all of His servants in Love, Joy and Peace.

To be a prophet prior to and during Christ's ministry on earth was not a popular calling. "O Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets and stonest them that are sent unto thee............Mtt23:37

A prophet ceases to be a prophet when he ceases to be stoned!! Could that be true today?

There is another verse in the scripture which I cannot find just now, but it says "God does nothing without first revealing it to his servant the prophet"

We could soon manufacture a 'leathern girdle' (leather belt?) which was worn by prophets, but the 'calling', we know is not of men.

There will be prophets within the church today, but I cannot bring one to mind.

A prophet ceases to be a prophet when he ceases to be stoned!!
