If we are burdened with the cares of this natural life, is it not this carnal mortal person that is burdened? All of us, who have not overcome the world as Jesus overcame the world (John 16:33) still have things within ourselves that are adversely affected by the pain and suffering of the body. When Jesus went to the cross, He had already overcome the world as stated in John 16:33. He had to go through the pain and suffering, but I do not believe that it was a personal burden to Him.
When Stephen was being physically stoned to death in Acts chapter 7, his body was suffering, "But he being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God..." Acts 7:55. Like Jesus, Stephen was to a point where anything in this old world was simply not a burden to him. His eyes were continuously on the Lord.
We are burdened because we take out eyes off of Jesus to look upon the temporal pain and suffering here. Wrong focus.
