Why do we sing what we do?

awesome group

I thank God for this day for finding this site. Am happy to be a member of this forum who is a believer of One and True Living God who gave us miracle each day. I hope I could mingle to fellow believers who has inner passion to spread the Word and lead me more closer to Jesus.

I think that if a song can't portray God or his people the correct way trough music and lyrics, then it isn't suitable for praise..

Amen.

Making a joyful noise unto the Lord... Praise His greatness.

Dear Theophilus

Your answer was a good one. Well thought out and you had all the relevant points. So I would feel in good hands if you were my worship leader.

i love to praise God through song
Its makes me feel him so close to me when im listening or singing worship music
If the radio played more the message would reach so many more people i feel the Lord is working behind the music
Its a great way of reaching people
I find it calming and i feel like a light has been switched on inside me when i hear good christian music
like Hill song are powerfull

I have a question

Why do we sing the songs we do, I would be really interested to get your veiws on what makes a song a good choice for use in a public meeting or for in private etc...

In short
What are you looking for in a P/W song?

You will be aware that the book of Psalms was written, illustrating how to give thanks to God in all the varied situations of life.

That is what 'singing' in church is all about. People come into our churches, from all walks of life, and from many different circumstances and backgrounds.

Remember we are not singing.....we are worshipping Jesus, with our praises.

It is needful to allow every expression within the worship song to be fully expressed. It may be joy, praise, worship, triumph etc. This brings release to each worshipper, as they approach Jesus.

The Holy Spirit draws near to every heart

Answering to Theophilus question... I would look for a song which reflects a need, thirst and true desire to praise God from the heart with everything that makes the song posibble. I'm talking about the voices, the guitars, drums, etc. Every single thing that is part of music must be for God.

We sing what we do because is just another way to praise God, music its another gift given by our Lord to let us praise Him, and invite others who are not christians to hear about His name, and how much we need of His presence in our lives.

Every single thing we do should be reflecting God's love in our lives, and music shouldn't be the exception. When music it's truly made from the heart to lift the Lord name's on high you can feel His presence in every single note, chord, voice.

Blessings!

Praise and worship music is great and only the ones that really speak to my heart are the ones that I will listen to forever.. I am kinda of a old school Music Lover I love all the Hymns... I am not that contemporary... If I can understand the words and they line up with the Bible and I can let it play while I am in my prayer Closet.. I have it in my Collection...

GOD Bless
