Why does everything die?

My simple, uneducated answer to your question would be it's God's will!

But thank God that we die, otherwise, we'd all be stuck on this filthy earth eternally!

My favorite quotes about death (in case anyone's interested):

God prevented Adam and Eve from eternal sinfulness by giving them
the gift of death, the ability to exit this life and arrive safely in the won-
drous life to come - WITH HIM. Death, though it would appear to be
man's greatest enemy, would in the end, prove to be his greatest gift
(from God). Only through death can we go to God (unless of course,
we are still living when Christ returns). "One Moment After You Die"

Only death can give us the gift of eternity. "One Moment After You Die"

People can take a lot away from us believers: food, wealth, friends,
health, to name a few. But NO ONE can take away the Christian's gift
of death that transports us into the presence of God. "One Moment
After You Die" By Lutzer.

Animals were created for man's service (see Gen 2:19-20). Since their existence is intertwined with man's, when death came, it came for all life forms - human and non-human.

The wages of sin is death and blood of humans. Animals die but they have no souls and they are not accountable for sin. God allowed humans to sacrifice animal life and blood on an alter before Christ's crucifixion. This was so God didn't have to take the life and blood of all humanity forever.

Animal sacrifices were a temporary way to soothe God's anger with mankind. Jesus sacrificed His life and blood on an alter (the cross) to permanentley soothe God's anger with mankind. This is why we are no longer required to sacrifice animals.

So, the wages of sin are death and blood of humanity. There's a lot more to this than I can fit into this post. I read about all of this in a book titled What You Don't Understand Can Hurt You. It outlines all of this in detail and many other amazing Biblical facts.

Why do animals die? Because Evolution isn't true. Evolution, survival of the fittest. It's not very fit to die. From a biological perspective, living creatures appear designed to self-destruct.

If animals didn't die, how long would it take for our planet to be overrun with animals with no room for anyone or anything else? Death seems to support the theory of evolution/natural selection.

Based on the theory of Evolution, I would predict that there wouldn't be a biological self-termination clock. Death would be the result of struggle, not aging. And, even struggle itself would give way to longevity and reduced offspring - just as we've seen in the human population over the last several centuries (except, this is not because of natural Evolution, but is a result of intelligent design by humans).

If Evolution were true, animals might die from being worn-out, but not from self-termination. But, more likely, animals would develop more regeneration (healing) abilities to counter wearing out and become practically immortal. Increased longevity reduces the loss of experienced adults and reduces the percent of the population in the vulnerable infant and juvenile stages.

But, Evolution is not a science. It's an Atheist religion. Evolutionists don't ponder what Evolution predicts. They fantasize about how everything they see can be made to fit into Evolution.

The whole planet is still under divine sentence from sin. We are redeemed from the Curse of the Law but everything else on this planet isn't. So you can expect things to do. As for reversing the effects of aging and death that we are subjected to in this realm, eat from the right tree and you can reverse those effects. And Jesus provided just that to us through the Lord's Supper. This is one of the great truths that was lost by the Church down through the centuries but its be rediscovered today. So we should appreciate the perfect work at the Cross by Jesus more than we do. The Lord's Supper is not a ritual as so many Christians, churches and theologians have turned it into. Jesus gave it to us so we could enjoy His Zoe Life in our bodies on the way to Heaven. And Jesus promised in JOHN 6:48-62 that who ever ate His flesh and drank His blood would never die. He was talking about physical death. The entire passage is about physical death and He was without question talking about the Lord's Supper. And yes I believe those claims! Praise the name of Jesus. The Lord's Supper is your fountain of youth and will keep you from suffering all the effects that creation is subjected to because of the Law of Sin and Death. We have provision folks. This isn't magic or woshful thinking. The Word promises just that for the Lord's Supper. Remember it was by the simple act of eating that brought sin, decay and death into this world. When Adam and Eve were made, they were made to NEVER die.

Because Adam sinned the entire Earth came under the curse Sin always brings cursing. Sin is Satan's invention. Satan is the author of sin and death. When sin came into the Earth everything started dying. Cause and effect.

Remember though that God did not bring the curse. Satan did.
God provided a way of escape though.

Robby!!! Welcome back. Took a sabbatical did you? grin
I missed you.

There is a time though when the Earth will be cleansed too. Then the animals won't die either

Robster,

Where in Scripture is it reported that God told Adam anything to the effect that "if you repent of your behavior when you disobeyed Me in the garden and take communion, I will give you a way out from under the curse I put on you and your descendents?" I've read the Bible cover to cover several times and I have yet to find a Scripture that says that.

But this precious treasure--this light and power that now shine within us--is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. [fn] So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be obvious in our dying bodies. 2Cor.4:8-11

No curse comes from God The Blessing is from God. The curse of sin comes from the author of sin and death. The curse is part of death.

Oh really, do you think maybe you over looked a few scriptures?

And to Adam He said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate the fruit I told you not to eat, I have placed a curse on the ground. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. Gen. 3:17

And the LORD said, "I will completely wipe out this human race that I have created. Yes, and I will destroy all the animals and birds, too. I am sorry I ever made them." Gen. 6:7
And the LORD was pleased with the sacrifice and said to himself, "I will never again curse the earth, destroying all living things, even though people's thoughts and actions are bent toward evil from childhood. Gen.8:21

Then the LORD told Abram,.... I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you." Gen.12:1-3

"Today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse! Deut. 11:26

now all heartily bound themselves with an oath. They vowed to accept the curse of God if they failed to obey the law of God as issued by his servant Moses. They solemnly promised to carefully follow all the commands, laws, and regulations of the LORD their Lord. Neh.10:29

The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, but his blessing is on the home of the upright. Prov.3:33

"The LORD will bring a terrible curse on you, your nation, and your family. You will soon experience greater terror than has been known in all the years since Solomon's empire was divided into Israel and Judah. The mighty king of Assyria will come with his great army!" Isaiah 7:17

And this is what the LORD Almighty says: I am sending this curse into the house of every thief and into the house of everyone who swears falsely by my name. And my curse will remain in that house until it is completely destroyed--even its timbers and stones." Zec. 5:4

Listen to me and take it to heart. Honor my name," says the LORD Almighty, "or I will bring a terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning seriously. Mal.2:2

Against its will, everything on earth was subjected to God's curse. Romans 8:20

Let God's curse fall on anyone, including myself, who preaches any other message than the one we told you about. Even if an angel comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed. Gal.1:8

But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under His curse, for the Scriptures say, "Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all these commands that are written in God's Book of the Law." Gal.3:10

The Curse and death

The Planet can no longer Sustain Life as you all have mentioned. The Laws of sin and death.

The account of God cursing the Earth or God's Curse came from disobedience.

Deu 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

The curse covered all kinds of things. Sickness, thorns growing, Poverty, Marriage and adultery, Planting but no rain. The list is long in what that curse brought to the Table.

As Jiggyfly mentioned, God said choose to be blessed or choose to be cursed. God gave the suggestion to choose to be blessed so that you live and your children will be safe.

It's that Law of sin and death, the Curse of the Law that brings death to the planet. Not only to the life on the Planet, but death to the planet itself.

Satan became god of this World, and that no longer put God as God of this World. In order to establish a connection and right to bless man, God gave his laws that if kept would keep man safe from the curse.

Satan is the author of death and sin. Not God. James Strong and others have noted that where God said he would curse that or make that should have been translated into a passive form. This is why we see things like God hardened Pharaoh's Heart then we see that Pharaoh's hardened his own heart.

Whatever the case, the Word or law gave a way to life from the hands of the enemy.

Jesus came and showed us the Satanic Kingdom and the source of death.

Eph 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

Had Satan be revealed sooner men would have had no way to deal the the devil because the greater one in us was not available yet. Many would have worshiped Satan in order to make him Happy if they knew that he was the source of the problem....... We see that as they sacrificed their own children to make the false God's happy.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. There was more to Jesus coming than to just get us born again or saved.

1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Satan is the author of Killing, stealing and destroying... Not God.

But even if you believe that God kills people, be rested assured that sickness, poverty and all those things were listed as consequence for disobedience to God. Jesus came, and redeemed us from that curse of the Law, so you don't have to be on God's bad side anymore...

Maybe you should read 1 Corinthians 11 and John 6 a bit closer because the Lord's Supper was given to reverse the effects of the curse. Christians are not supposed to be dying of sickness and disease. The Lord's Supper is not a ritual. Jesus gave us provision to be strong, healthy and to live long. Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 11 that he received his lesson on the Lord's Supper from Jesus himself. And he gave those Corinthians a tongue lashing because they were not discerning what the Lord's body was for during Communion. They turned the Lord's Supper into a scandal. And in John 5 Jesus was speaking about the Lord's Supper. he even boldly stated that who ever ate his flesh and drank His blood would never die. Jesus did not just take away our sins at the Cross. he gaves us provision to reverse the curse and live long and healthy through the Lord's Supper. This is one of the great truths lost by the early church and we are shown a shadow, a picture of the Lord's Supper on the first Passover that took place in Exodus. The Lord's Supper is also the ONE way, that Jesus said we were to remember Him. We will not be taking the Lord's Supper in Heaven. We will not be tithing or giving offerings in Heaven. All these things have incredible blessings attached to them while we are on earth. God REQUESTS that we do these things for our own benefit while we are on earth. The church has glanced over so many scriptures and have robbed themselves of Jesus' divine health in this life. The Lord's Supper is the other way that Christians can initiate healing with God. John 6:48-62 is all about the Lord's Supper. Its hidden right there. We have shadows of what Jesus would do at the Cross for sickness and disease right in the OT. You remember Moses raising up that pole in the wilderness for all those who had snake bites? He put a bronze snake on that pole as instructed by the Lord. yet another shadow of what Jesus would do. Jesus' body was broken for our healing and we all know what His blood was shed for. Millions of Christians treat the Lord's Supper like a powerless ritual, when in fact its the delivery sustem for God's supernatural health and wholeness to enter our bodies.

Eat from the right tree and you will reverse the curse. In 1 Corinthians 11 we are told there is ONLY ONE REASON, why believers are weak, sickly and dying prematurely. And it was because they were not discerning what the bread was for during Communion. Taken in faith, the Lord's Supper because a time of tremendous power. We have many churches in South east Asia that are on the cutting edge with this incredible revelation and they are seeing all kinds of healing miracles through the Lord's Supper. But people need to get revelation from all the scripture in the Bible regarding the Lord's Supper before partaking. Its not magic and the Lord's Supper does not produce instantaneous miracles. Its a gradual process of receiving increasing health. If you don't have faith to claim your healing through the Prayer of faith, the the Lord's Supper is your ticket. God works with all kinds of levels of faith. He is that good! That's right this is radical, but its a biblical truth. Jesus didn't come to give us religion and rituals. He came to give us blessings. And the Lord's Supper is our covenant meal. Take what belongs to you brother.

1 Corinthians 11:23-31

23 For I received from the Lord Himself that which I passed on to you [it was given to me personally], that the Lord Jesus on the night when He was treacherously delivered up and while His betrayal was in progress took bread,

24 And when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and said, Take, eat. This is My body, which is broken for you. Do this to call Me [affectionately] to remembrance.

25 Similarly when supper was ended, He took the cup also, saying, This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink [it], to call Me [affectionately] to remembrance.

26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are representing and signifying and proclaiming the fact of the Lord’s death until He comes [again].

27 So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy [of Him] will be guilty of [profaning and sinning against] the body and blood of the Lord.

28 Let a man [thoroughly] examine himself, and [only when he has done] so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discriminating and recognizing with due appreciation that [it is Christ’s] body, eats and drinks a sentence (a verdict of judgment) upon himself.

30 That [careless and unworthy participation] is the reason many of you are weak and sickly, and quite enough of you have fallen into the sleep of death.

31 For if we searchingly examined ourselves [detecting our shortcomings and recognizing our own condition], we should not be judged and penalty decreed [by the divine judgment].

John 6:48-62 (Amplified Bible)

48 I am the Bread of Life [that gives life—the Living Bread].

49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and [yet] they died.

50 [But] this is the Bread that comes down from heaven, so that [any]one may eat of it and never die.

51 I [Myself] am this Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever; and also the Bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh (body).

52 Then the Jews angrily contended with one another, saying, How is He able to give us His flesh to eat?

53 And Jesus said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you appropriate His life and the saving merit of His blood].

54 He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has (possesses now) eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day.

55 For My flesh is true and genuine food, and My blood is true and genuine drink.

56 He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood dwells continually in Me, and I [in like manner dwell continually] in him.

57 Just as the living Father sent Me and I live by (through, because of) the Father, even so whoever continues to feed on Me [whoever takes Me for his food and is nourished by Me] shall [in his turn] live through and because of Me.

58 This is the Bread that came down from heaven. It is not like the manna which our forefathers ate, and yet died; he who takes this Bread for his food shall live forever.

59 He said these things in a synagogue while He was teaching at Capernaum.

60 When His disciples heard this, many of them said, This is a hard and difficult and strange saying (an offensive and unbearable message). Who can stand to hear it? [Who can be expected to listen to such teaching?]

61 But Jesus, knowing within Himself that His disciples were complaining and protesting and grumbling about it, said to them: Is this a stumbling block and an offense to you? [Does this upset and displease and shock and scandalize you?]

62 What then [will be your reaction] if you should see the Son of Man ascending to [the place] where He was before?

Jigger Why don't you stop taking verses out of context? You said you let the Holy Spirit teach you....so does the Holy Spirit take His Word our of context?
I've put small notes next to each verse in parentheses.

Genesis 3:17

17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’

“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.

(Does NOT say God cursed the Earth! It says the Earth is cursed because of what Adam did.)

Genesis 8:21

21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even thougha]">[a] every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

Deuteronomy 11:24-28

24 Every place where you set your foot will be yours: Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the Euphrates River to the Mediterranean Sea. 25 No one will be able to stand against you. The Lord your God, as he promised you, will put the terror and fear of you on the whole land, wherever you go.

26 See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse— 27 the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; 28 the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.

Nehemiah 10:27-30

27 Malluk, Harim and Baanah.

28 “The rest of the people—priests, Levites, gatekeepers, musicians, temple servants and all who separated themselves from the neighboring peoples for the sake of the Law of God, together with their wives and all their sons and daughters who are able to understand— 29 all these now join their fellow Israelites the nobles, and bind themselves with a curse and an oath to follow the Law of God given through Moses the servant of God and to obey carefully all the commands, regulations and decrees of the Lord our Lord.

30 “We promise not to give our daughters in marriage to the peoples around us or take their daughters for our sons.

(These people were returning to God out of the cursed darkness)

Proverbs 3:30-35

30 Do not accuse anyone for no reason—
when they have done you no harm.

31 Do not envy the violent
or choose any of their ways.

32 For the Lord detests the perverse
but takes the upright into his confidence.
33 The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked,
but he blesses the home of the righteous.
34 He mocks proud mockers
but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.
35 The wise inherit honor,
but fools get only shame.

Isaiah 7:10-20

10 Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, 11 “Ask the Lord your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.”

12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the Lord to the test.”

13 Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give youa]">[a] a sign: The virginb]">[b] will conceive and give birth to a son, andc]">[c] will call him Immanuel.d]">[d] 15 He will be eating curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, 16 for before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste. 17 The Lord will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since Ephraim broke away from Judah—he will bring the king of Assyria.”

Assyria, the Lord’s Instrument
18 In that day the Lord will whistle for flies from the Nile delta in Egypt and for bees from the land of Assyria. 19 They will all come and settle in the steep ravines and in the crevices in the rocks, on all the thornbushes and at all the water holes. 20 In that day the Lord will use a razor hired from beyond the Euphrates River—the king of Assyria—to shave your head and private parts, and to cut off your beard also.

(God was not cursing them..He was warning them. The people of David were ignoring God and His Word and rejoicing over Rezin and Pekah, and in doing so were setting themselves up for a major wipeout. )

Zechariah 5

The Flying Scroll
5 I looked again, and there before me was a flying scroll.

2 He asked me, “What do you see?”

I answered, “I see a flying scroll, twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.a]">[a]”

3 And he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished. 4 The Lord Almighty declares, ‘I will send it out, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.’”

The Woman in a Basket
5 Then the angel who was speaking to me came forward and said to me, “Look up and see what is appearing.”

(vs 3 "This is the consequence over the entire Earth of stealing,") Again its not 'curse' but consequence

Malachi 2

2 “And now, you priests, this warning is for you. 2 If you do not listen, and if you do not resolve to honor my name,” says the Lord Almighty, “I will send a curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not resolved to honor me.

3 “Because of you I will rebuke your descendantsa]">[a]; I will smear on your faces the dung from your festival sacrifices, and you will be carried off with it. 4 And you will know that I have sent you this warning so that my covenant with Levi may continue,” says the Lord Almighty. 5 “My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name.

(So Gods covenant with His people is life and peace. Warning!!!! If you step out of covenant, the consequences will be.....bad" Not a punishment...A warnng!!)

Against its will, everything on earth was subjected to God's curse. Romans 8:20
(Wow!! Jigger you just took a wonderful promise and turned it into a curse!! I didn't think it could be done.. The entire Earth was under the dominion of Satan since Adam sold it to him. The natural consequence of which is everything dies. Try it in context....)

Romans 8:16-25

16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Present Suffering and Future Glory
18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 thata]">[a] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

(See? You misinterpreted it again.)

Galatians 1:8

8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!

(Ok lets keep this one really simple. If you preach any other gospel you are preaching Satans gospel with death as a natural consequence. Not hard to understand. The words you speak are the results you get)

Galatians 3:8-12

8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.”

(Of course! You are under the curse if you are under the law... The law was given to show us our sin. Salvation comes by faith not law. So if you want to live under law you reject faith and go back under the curse of sin. How complicated is that? NOT!)
