WOW, WHAT DID JESUS SAY THE WORLD LOOKS LIKE WHEN HE RETURNS? JUST LIKE THE WORLD AROUND US TODAY!

Playing the word game for you agenda we see.
Simply responding to your question about Bible texts that talk of the soul ceasing to exist. I can post more if you'd like to see them.

This is not a game for me. I am serious and sincere in this. It is what I have learned through reading the Bible and learning from others.

It does NOT cease to exist.
God is the only one who can eliminate it.
Post all you want.

Okie dokie. Here's another. This time talking about Nazirite vows.

Numbers 6:6 (NRSV) All the days that they separate themselves to the LORD they shall not go near a corpse.

The Hebrew for corpse is "met nephesh". Literally a dead soul.

Hekuran I'm kind of slow this morning....Are you saying that the soul ceases to exist? If so, why would you say that?

Yes, the Bible words translated "soul" - nephesh in Hebrew, Psuche in Greek - means a "living being". Everything that has breath is a nephesh. A corpse is a dead nephesh.

When the bible talks of existence after death, it sometimes talks in terms of spirit, more often linked to our resurrection.

Oh Thats not right.....Your soul is a part of you, if it were to cease to exist, you would no longer be you, even after you die your soul goes on. I"m sorry, my head isn't in a state today, where I can speak coherently enough to go deeper

So you do not believe in eternal punishment in hell?
When the Bible speaks of hell, it's the spirit (pneuma) , not the soul. For example 1 Peter 3:18-19

Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits

sounds like you do not believe in hell that the bible talks about,

but I can not really tell as you did not answer the question directly.

Let's talk about hell on another thread. This one's got more than enough different ideas flying around already

When the Bible speaks of hell, it's the spirit (pneuma) , not the soul.

Matt 5:29; "If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
Matt 5:30; "If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.
Matt 10:28; "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

1Cor 15:44; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

excellent if hell did not exist like so many want to claim, why would Jesus say its worst then tearing your eye out,,,, Ray always lets the word speak for itself love that brother !!

I find it interesting how the title od this thread is about how THE WORLD LOOKS LIKE WHEN HE RETURNS? JUST LIKE THE WORLD AROUND US TODAY!. The funny thing is how nobody wants to talk about it, including the OP

I think Brother Hekuren, that like Sodom the United States will go through great tribulation prior. I will not go far enough to say it will be eliminated but close I believe. It's just to cluttered to remain as it is. But time will tell. Good question though!!

Nobody?
Out of 330 million Americans and 6 Billion people on this rock, NO ONE?

@Bob Carabbio's comment summarises my view on this.

We don't know the day or the hour. It could be tonight, it might be hundreds of years from now.

So we live expecting Jesus to return at any moment, and at the same time we're prepared for the long haul.

Of course, since I'm 81 and in not so good health, my LONG HAUL is probably a lot shorter than some. I 'spect that I'll get to watch the party from the other side of the grass.
