70th Week of Daniel

In Matt. 24:15, some have noticed how the modern per-versions add the tiny suffix of -ing to the word stand, thereby shifting the focus to some anthropomorphic image in a rebuilt temple. Oh, they may indeed rebuild some temple, but the glory of the Lord departed from that temple a long time ago and it's not coming back.

When one turns to modern corrupted copyrighted “versions,” sourced from corrupted and rejected manuscripts and written by unsaved men, confusion results.

Further, seeking Hebrew and Greek lex-icons doesn’t bring clarity, it brings death.

And context is everything.

stand = histemi, a verb.

The word for stand appears the following number of times: stand 116 times, set 11, establish 5, stand still 4, stand by 3, misc 17, vr stand 2; 158

There is no “standing” in Matt. 25:15 -- rather, it is what The Holy Bible says it is i.e. stand.

It is the believer who is now the temple of the holy place, as it is God's Holy Spirit who resides in him.

They may rebuild some temple, and they may place some image in that rebuilt temple, but neither the physical rebuilt temple nor the physical image is the abomination which makes desolate. The glory of the Lord departed from that scenario a long time ago, and it's not coming back -- that prophecy was fulfilled.

Again, the abomination itself will not be “standing” anywhere; rather, it is the believer, when he sees the resumption of animal sacrifice, who is to remain firmly standing in his position in Christ.

The abomination is the resumption of animal sacrifice which makes desolate the completed bloodwork/sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

What is or Who is the Olive tree? I think Lawrenceb is saying the tree is Christ and in scripture Christ is Israel. And in Romans Israel isn't just one group or entity it is used to identify more than one group or entity.

Hosea 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
Matt 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

The branch that was taken out of Israel(tree) was Israel(branch). Israel(branch) was rejected because it rejected Israel(tree). Then the Gentile branch(Wild Olive) was grafted into Israel(tree), it accepted Israel(tree). Thus Gentiles(Wild Olive) becomes part of Israel(tree), making them Spiritual Israel.

Hello Bambi.

Agree with you Bambi that Lawrence is identifying the cultivated olive tree as Christ.

Though Romans states that Christ is the root of the olive tree, Christ causes the growth of the tree by providing the nourishment.

Romans 11, also states that multiple branches were cut off not just one cultivated olive branch.

17 But if some of the branches were broken off,

How do you read that Bambi?

Common sense reading of the scripture DHC.

Do you think that there is only one branch for the Jews and one branch for Gentiles?

There is a branch for every individual.

Remember the time period between Pentecost and when Peter was sent to Cornelius there were only Jews(Jews born naturally & those converted into Judaism) born again.

So some natural branches are left in the olive tree(Apostles, Jewish converts). Then later some wild branches are grafted in(Cornelius, etc). The natural branches that are taken out are those who rejected Christ(Jewish leaders, etc). Wild branches that were not grafted in(Pilate, Herod, etc ?).
