I don't think much of the current archeological evidence, as such evidence has proven that certain events in the bible didn't take place.

Of cause I disagree. We can always compare, but rarely does that accomplish anything. For being drawn to the Lord doesn't require one know the Bible. It's really for those who are seeking Him, and desire to live a life pleasing to Him. All, others for some odd reason become confused, obstinate in refuting what can be clearly shown as having happened; historically that is.

An example of this is that there are still people that refuse to believe that Jesus came in the flesh, died on the Cross, and has risen. Somehow He never existed. Though enough evidence that a Court of Law would accept is available to them. With writings both in and out of Christendom stating of His Crucifixion and the belief of those who followed Him, that He had been seen afterwards. I'm sure you get it.

What about my other question? The opening one.
In response to you believing in another creator.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Ok, what did Jesus actually do for us? .

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends
.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

say a bunch of words

Well He was crucified because He specifically said He was the Messiah. As I said to you, per Isaiah 9:6 that is stating He is God in the flesh.

Only a 100% fool would ignore this fact.

make a bunch of promises

The only one that matters is that He said He would lay down Hs life for ours. He did.

leave us holding the bag for 2000 years. Oh right, he'll be coming back any day soon

Time should not be an obstacle for you. You need to understand that God loves mankind. He wants as many of us with Him as possible. The end / need for Jesus's return will only come when the environment we are in reaches an intolerable level of evil. This scenario is evident throughout the OT.

Consider how even in the last of the last days God is still trying to get mankind to repent with plagues at increasing levels of severity. Just read Rev 16 for the bowl judgements and note the ''and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory''.

God loves us all, many of us hate Him. It is for those that hate Him, that the sun rose this morning.

Jesus didn't cure world hunger or anything.
Jesus provided the cure for something much worse than world hunger. I have been cured and I know many others who have as well.

To those who have been healed ["cured" to use your word] it is very simple. To those who have not, we are praying for them. This includes you.

That is a very selfish reply and so, but for Jesus, would be all of us similarly answer. Selfishness is the main underlying problem with people. Most people will die unredeemed because they have never been able to moved past their own selfishness. Alone, no one really ever will.

Remember these words of the now deceased John Fitzgerald Kennedy [President of the United States for an incomplete term ended by his assassination in 1963]:

"ask not what your country can do for youask what you can do for your country."

A infinitely more important question would be asked if the word "country" [used twice] were replaced by the word, "God". When it comes right down to it, God sent His Son, Jesus, to enable individuals to diminish and eventually eliminate selfishness in themselves.

Do you have lots of self centered people around you.

Mat 7:6 "Don't waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don't throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you. (NLT)

Pro 9:7 Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt.
Pro 9:8 So don't bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you.

Everyone is born self-centered, but in the beginning, it is a matter of self-preservation. A tiny babe is hungry and cries, especially when it discovers that its cries often bring comfort to it in the way of nourishment. Similarly with blankets when its cold or discomfort from soiled diapers, etc.

As the child learns it selfishness for survival tends to become a selfishness becauses it feels or tastes good. While still a child a certain amount of this is tolerated, but if not corrected, the selfish teenager is hard to take and the selfish adult is impossible to be around.

Jesus lived the perfectly unselfish life that God wants all of us to approach. God's plan for mankind is for individuals to make that approach and He through Jesus has made it a possibility, but unfortunately, some believers [probably many believers] are more interested in the promised rewards at the end of the of the road than in really loving God and his neighbors. If they do not change, they may never realize that they have retained too much of their old ways [the ways of selfishness] to please God enough to ever receive the rewards.

Jesus summed it up here:

"Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Matt 22:36-40

For the process ever to be completed in a person to God's satisfaction is likely to be a slow process, especially if a person and repeatedly quenches the Spirit of God in him to pursue his own selfish desires.

God made a Way, but He never removed a man's free will to go his own way instead of God's Way. Alone, we cannot do it, but can ask for help. We must continuously be asking for help.

Give God the glory!

I'm not asking God for help anymore, for me I found it a useless endeavor.

God is not an arm twister and neither am I. I will continue to pray for you and your situation. God does know exactly what is happening and why. If at any time you believe I may be able to help, do not hesitate to ask.

The irony in communicating with you is that here you reject what is easily permissible to you. While at the same time there is another at Talk Jesus who seeks it, while living in an intolerant Society that to receive it would surely cost him his life.

For a great pearl has been shown to you both, but, only one it appears to see it's true price.

With the Love of Christ Jesus I leave these words with you.

If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son. The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 1 John 5:9-12

If Jesus is offering me a free gift (As you say) Then can I not be free to reject the gift. You have made it sound like I have no choice but to accept this gift, but say at the same time "You still have the free choice to choose"

Of course you are free to reject. But why would one unless they are evil? Prove to me that rejecting Jesus is not evil.

Rejecting Jesus because we are blaming God for ''not helping us'' with something is simply naivety. Churches and sites like this exist so we can bounce off each other what God's will is with prayers, revelations from the Holy Spirit and sharing scriptures. We ''ALL'' understand the pain and frustration of circumstances and situations. God does not always shield us from these things. But He does ''keep'' us. That is why His peace surpasses all understanding Phil 4:7.

2 Cor 1:23-28 Are they servants of Christ? I am a better one, I am talking like a madman, with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death. Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea; on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure and, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches.

Your God left me to deal with my mental illness, he never cured me or made it a degree easier.
I prayed and asked this God to cure my mind, because it was causing me mental hell. But after asking God for 18 years you kinda get sick of asking.

When I decided to take care of myself and leave the belief system behind, my life started to improve. One fact is that I felt so useless as a Christian, that I didn't think I could work while I was sick. It's been more than 9 years since I've had any employment, but now I have found work (And all without Jesus)

Leaving Jesus was the best thing for me, I've been unborn again and it's becoming easier to manage my life now.

Thanks for opening up and sharing.

I propose you better scrutinize what has actually transpired. Looking for a job, applying ourselves, using the talents God has given us should not conflict with faith and belief.

It reminds me of those that teach we must not visit a doctor or take medicine because it shows we have little faith. This kind of teaching is insane error. It causes us to tempt God, when scripture is crystal clear that we should not.

I believe that God actually prefers us taking a hands on approach to all matters. We should only ask / expect His divine assistance if we really come unstuck. He does like to be included in every aspect of our lives, as anyone who loves us would....but He does not like to be ''used'' as a vending machine or treated like He has a sell by date.

You are still breathing in air He provides, using brains He gave and amazingly designed fingers to type your grievances. Be kinder and accept that you have just believed error.

Most of what the Christian claims "Proof of experience" and "Inner transformation" is the exact same evidence I now have, but without attributing this phenomena to a Deity.

Which God do I thank for helping me restore my life, when that restoration came from walking away from the true God?

If Jesus is offering me a free gift (As you say) Then can I not be free to reject the gift. You have made it sound like I have no choice but to accept this gift, but say at the same time "You still have the free choice to choose"

Not at all. The individual through their own eyes must come to a decision that God already knows you will make. Do you think He was surprised by you pulling away? That being said, me not being God, am I not allowed to sorrow for those who seemingly had Him and now reject him?

Even your testimony to the difficulties in your life, does not diminish my sorrow, but rather increase it! For I sorrow for myself and rejection of the call He would have me do as well. Yet, where would I go? The words of Peter resonate throughout my very soul to this day…."Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. "We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God." John 6:68-69

Because things have not turned out as "I" would have desired them to, would that mean I have to reject the truth I still know is in Christ Jesus?

My own brother died violently in a mental hospital during a time that it was little more than a warehouse. A tender soul, caught in a world that had no love for him as he was. He had already lost the faculties to function in the society of that time due to the cruelties of others, but still believed even though by then many concepts that are discussed here at Talk Jesus would be beyond him to comprehend. Because this happened to my brother who I loved. Should I then reject the truth I know is in Christ Jesus?

I take a young man (37), to church on Wednesday nights for a few years now. I guess not so young being 37, (perspective), who stands barely 4 ft. something, only sees changing light shadows to get around. Should have been according to the doctors dead as a teenager. Who stumbled over his mother’s dead body who he could not see or help and then was forced to leave with family who were ungodly and introduced him to the darkness that is prevalent in our society. Even still, he has grown in the love of the Lord over these passing years. Not without bumps and bruises that we all have and many continue to live with.

The point of these is that everyone, I mean everyone undergoes trials and tribulations in life. Be they rich, poor, healthy, sick, you name it. The difference is in how we come to terms with the conditions we live in. Besides Peter, Paul also said something that also resonates with me, because it really took a while for me to come to not only understand it intellectually, but to get past the worldliness that was telling me that it was impossible, and to finally see it/apply it in my own life. Don't get me wrong, I've been on my knees and had tears running down checks before God, and the words of Paul, were the last things on my mind. Still, the truth is not so easily cast aside when one knows that it is “Truth”! With this realization, then one can come to understand, how a man in prison could be writing these words. Who had also faced many more trials and tribulations, than I could talk of or imagine. Eyes wide open, that we too could do and be as was written.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4

Even as I sorrow, I also rejoice that there is always hope in the Lord Jesus Christ and that my prayers and those of others, may reach heavenward that our intercessor will intercede for us on your behalf and also of those many others. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
