Did it require more than Peter just believing and speaking it into existence?
I believe Jesus told Peter to do this so Peter would have more faith i already said sometimes you have to do something. But as I also said this wasn't a job

We are a part of the world and until the Lord returns to pull us out, we have to live in this world. We are to work and hold jobs like every other person... the Godly men of the Bible worked the fields just like all the un-Godly men... the difference though, is how we do it.
Everything the Christian does is different than the world. We may have jobs like the world has jobs, but, we have different motives for working, we have a different master we serve, we have different attitudes while we serve, and we serve through love. So you ask why God would ask us to do it in the same way, but in fact He actually tells us to do it differently.
The un-Godly architect is concerned only with making money and building fancy buildings. But I am concerned with helping people and serving God. The un-Godly CEO is concerned with making the most money and finding the most customers. The Godly CEO is concerned with helping others and serving God. Get the picture... its not what we do, but how we do it that makes us different. The Bible does not say you will know a Christian because they hold no job... no, it says you will know a Christian by their fruits. That means whatever we do in our lives on this earth, we are to do it different than the world and that is how we are separated from them.
There are some things that are inevitable to escape on this earth, and that is because we are human and we shall not truly escape until the Lord returns. Holding a job and working to provide for ourselves is just part of life. It is part of the Christian life, and the non-Christian life... the difference is though, why we work and how we work. We don't work to serve man as the world does, we work to serve God.
Look again at Ephesians 6:6. It speaks of slaves being obedient to their masters. God commands them to obey and work for their master, but He tells them that the reason they work is different, and that's what separates us from the world. The Lord says, "With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free." We are to work, but not unto man, as the world works, but unto the Lord.
The people of the world are actually the ones who have got it wrong. They think working is for money. But as Christians, we know better because of the wisdom the Lord has given us. He created us to work and commanded us to work, it is Him who gave us the ability and the necessity to work. And it is through Him, by Him, and for Him we work.
I'll have to think this over some more
Why did Jesus work?
Jesus worked because that is what God created Him and us to do. And, as we see from the Bible, Jesus served God through serving others. That is what we are to do... serve God through working for others. In that way we help others, and supply our needs.
i don't know who the berans are...
scripture?
Quite frankly, Quenton, if you don't know who the Bereans were (Ac 17:10-11), I have to wonder how familiar you are with Scripture.

I suppose that answer would depend on the specific question that you are asking. Are you asking, "Did Jesus have an occupation?"
If so, he was a carpenter:
Matthew 13:55 refers to Jesus as the carpenter's son.
Mark 6:3 refers to him as the carpenter.
What kind of carpenter work did he do? We don't know. What type of things did he build? We don't know. Where did he do his carpenter work? We assume that he did much of it in his home town, Nazareth, but that is an assumption. And it is most likely He made a bit of money doing this to support His family during His pre-ministering years. The gospels write almost exclusively about Jesus' ministry. Did he do carpenter work during the time of his ministry? No, there is no reference to his doing carpenter work during his ministry.
Jesus' real job though was to serve God by serving others. He came to this earth to serve, not to be served (Matthew 20:28)... and in everything He did during His life, He did it unto the Lord.
Lets look at some of the work he had to do on the job:
So you can see from the list that He actually had a multitude of jobs. Everything from cleaning, to being a counselor, to being a judge, to being a servant, to being a teacher, to being a minister, to being a doctor, etc. Jesus had many many Jobs, and the most important thing is that He performed them all unto the Lord.
- He washed the feet of others in John 13:12-15
- He healed the sick: (Matthew 8:1-4, Matthew 9:2-8, Mark 2:3-12, Mark 3:1-7, Luke 6:6-11, John 9:1-12)
- He fed the hungry (Mark 8:1-13, Mark 6:30-44)
- He taught and gave hope (His parables in the Gospels)
- He was a judge and mediated the issues of others (John 8:1-11)
He was called by the Lord to serve others and be the sacrifice for our sins. That was His calling... that was His job. We are called to serve others too, but we are not called to be the sacrifice for our sins... that was Jesus' job. Instead, God calls us to our own unique jobs. Jesus' unique job was to die for us; my unique job is to serve others through building houses. I know a brother who is a doctor and that is his calling to serve. My dad, like I said, is an accountant, and that is his calling from God. I know a sister that is a nurse, and she works in Healthcare for the Homeless... that is her calling from God. I also have a friend that works in daycare, she serves disabled and orphaned children... that is her calling from God. I know a brother who is a cop... he is a mediator for the issues of others... that is his calling. Your unique job may be to open a business that serves others somehow... and that is your calling from God.
We all have unique and specific callings from the Lord. And through our occupations that is how we serve God and serve others. Jesus' main job was to serve others and die for us... He also worked many other jobs though as we saw. And our main job is to serve others through our work, and God will call us to that specific work.
We are disciples who follow Jesus, who belong to Jesus, who become servants just like he did. We are not like other people--the world wants to exalt and elevate themselves by seeking authority and high position. But in our work and in our jobs, our only goal is to serve the Lord and elevate Him, just like Jesus did in His many jobs.
...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28
So, God commands us to work so that we can serve and bless others, serve Him, and serve ourselves. And Jesus is our example; as we see all the different works and jobs he performed, we can know how we are to perform in our specific calling as well. Sowhatever you do, whatever the Lord calls you to do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24
i don't think its your place to judge my knowledge of the scripture i don't yet know the names of everyperson in the bible and i dont think you would either
in fac t that statement is kind of rude how about you try to teach me some scripture or(and i don't mean this rudely) don't come into my thread. I don't want anymore of this back and forth stuff because really the bible isn't for it. So please let's not come into my thread questioning peoples knowledge. I believe the best way to teach someone is to tell them your belief and that way if the y don't know they learn and if they do know it but are wrong you plant a seed to grow
because really you could've taught me something about them instead of saying "Quenton I don't think you know much about the Bible son...really when you tell most people that it A. Bugs them, B makes them mad or C. my personal favorite makes them have ot say something that wastes their own time when you could've been benefical. And i like being benefical. since I truly don't know everything I certainly would've read some scripture. Scripture is my favorite thing to read and do.
Please try again...
thanks sir

SLE: as a moderator, I would ask you to consider moving this thread to "lounge", "teen hangout", or "trivia", as it is clearly not originated by someone seeking counseling, or interested in help. You can find the backup for those statements by reading through this thread. I appreciate your consideration.
-s.i.e.
No Quenton, you didn't.
I'm sorry you lost your wallet. That is a bummer and a problem, but that is not your situation. Anyways, you know that no solution to that circumstance can be fixed or solved here in this thread.
Be that as it may, being that your entire mode of operation throughout this thread continues to ask/demand/beg for people to use scriptures in whatever they say to you...perhaps you should be honest, and ask the moderator/administrator to move "your thread" to the "Scriptural Bible Answers" section. Perhaps someone might be able to locate your wallet (which you believe is your situation) through the use of scripture in that forum?
SLE: per Quenton's comment...I would ask you to consider moving this threa to "Scriptural Bible Answers" instead of Counseling. Quenton's correct...that would be a better fit based on his m.o. here.
no that was just to let me people knwo that i was hurting my situation is still my roomate
