Anything that promotes lust is pornography. It doesn't have to be nudity or even sexual acts.
This can even be shows like "The Bachelor" or "Survivor". It has more to do with the way we perceive and our thoughts
than the way it is presented.

I think it is a sign of the times. It is a disrespectful distraction that brings the model and the viewer to the same animalist level. We might as well be hitting each other with brontosaurus bones and dragging women by the hair into caves. What is worst about this is the images our children pick up from this. Girls look to be more enticing and turn into eye-candy for the boys who learn to disrespect these same girls and punish them for their beauty. Neither of them see or care abut the character within and in that they lose the greatest thing a person can bring into the world. An individual.

All good points, I agree. Your phrase "eye-candy for the boys" however reminds me that twice this week, I've heard women use the phrase "eye-candy" in the context about a man.
(once about the football player in a tight suit)
According to CNN and FoxNews over 10% of porn users are female, and it's growing.
Some women dress provocatively on purpose (Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce, etc..) but some wear skimpy clothing without thinking much about it.
Are they really not thinking much about it? If they aren't maybe they should be. For some men, simply watching women in tights or tight clothes (ice skating, gymnastics) is
all the pornography they need. But I doubt that's the purpose of why athletes dress that way. On the other hand, it seems "the gym" has become a meat market to many
people, and if you ask them why they exercise the answer usually isn't "to get healthy" or "to get stronger", more often it's "to look good".

Eye-candy is all the same for any who replace human beings with it. Imagery has replaced individualism and those who dress according to a style are advertising that style. Wither they understand fully what that style entails is open to conjecture, but the advertisements are still there and what is being advertizes is not the package, but the body beneath. The one thing about full nudity is there is nothing hidden, but those who dress provocatively are dangling that which is still covered as forbidden fruit that some have no issue with taking, no matter how violently they do so.

Athletes dress in the manner that increases their prowess in what they do. It is no more than a uniform if worn while conducting their trade. Prostitutes do the same thing in dressing the way they do. Wearing revealing clothing is the uniform of their trade. The only thing is these young girls who dress provocatively are following their lead and there are men out there who will follow these same young women, sometimes farther than these women want to go.

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

1 John‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬
For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

When a person asks me this question,I will ask them one. LOL Have you ever seen pretty women in bathing suits? Most say of course I have! And the point to you viewing them is?? LOL Admire beauty??? Yea right. lol I understand how the flesh looks to trick us into looking in the first place! And then how our mind lies about the result.( 1 cor 9:27) Our flesh looks to do a lot of talking! The flesh talked to EVE to,not just the enemy!( gen 3:6!!) Doubt and temptation can also arrive from listening to it.

swimsuit magazines of women, don't buy it patronize or even look at.

1 Timothy 2:8-10
“I desire…that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works

Not even when a beautiful woman dresses respectfully it is hard not to notice thier beauty. I've seen many beautiful women in church, but yet their true beauty lies within. For these women I only say good job God and let Jesus Shine in thier Heart.
Romans 8:5
For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

The key here is living according to the Holy Spirit, unlocking an opening up your spiritual eye's and ear's so you may see and hear the word of god. Let the Holy Spirit guide your eyes if you glance upon a beautiful woman to not let your flesh take control of you.

Romans 8:13
for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

do all you can to put away a your lustful thinking and other sinful nature's, surrender all to God, let God take control of your life. The steps of a Godly man are ordered, directed, guided, and led by the Lord.
As for personal experience, six months ago I met a Christian lady online in a different forum. What made this woman so beautiful was the words she wrote, the godly advice she gave, all in all the way Jesus was shining through her words. In Her word beauty, far exceeds her worldly appearance, but yes she is a pretty woman in the worldly eyes too.
Why someone even asked if swimsuit magazines was pornography I really don't know. I can just say, what does the scripture tell you and the Holy Spirit that resides in your heart, giving you guidance to these matters. Yes I'm a man born of this world but don't mean I have to live of the world, and if that lustful thought comes across my mind the Holy Spirit quickly corrects me.

God Bless

P.S. Brighthouse can you get my e-mail from Admin and contact me about a experience we both had with a mutual friend. it was a comforting to know, someone from so fare away could be so close.

I could also use prayer's for God to finish opening the doors for me to leave to the Philippines to the missionary field he is leading me to.

I recently looked online for new swimming costumes for my two oldest daughters (young teenagers)

There was nothing modest or decent about the pages I found on what would be classed as reputable sites
Just a bunch of sultry models posing in seductive ways...that seemed totally inappropriate

A lust trap.

So yes I agree that swim wear magazines can be very pornographic...not a place for Christians to be caught up in

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth He any man:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
James 1:13-15

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever thingsare lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and ifthere be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:8

I would have to agree with swim suit magazines being pornographic. Anything that takes away from God isn't a good thing. Women in little tiny pieces of clothing barely wearing nothing at all isn't good.
These women need to know and realize they have so much more to offer than putting their bodies out there for men to ogle.

These are models. Lust is the sugar in their coffee. It is inseparable and addictive in it's aroma.

If you're asking specifically about swimsuit magazines such as, playboy, sports illustrated, or any magazine that has a center fold...YES it's pornographic. If you're talking about, lets use Victoria secret product catalog it's not pornographic material.
I'll explain
Centerfold magazines are created with the intent to arouse, and provide a fantasy. On the other hand a magazine whose sole purpose is to advertise clothing,... they use sexy imagery to convince consumers that, " they too can look and feel sexy, all they have to do is buy this product," it's a marketing tactic. Some /most women dress sexy with other women in mind (competition), sorry guys. If you're already her target and she knows where you're going to be, then yes you will influence her choice of clothing.

A person who struggles with excessive masturbation, would use both for their pleasure. They would use any image for arousal whether it's a centerfold or a Kmart swimsuit ad. Any person who signs up for clothing catalog for pleasure have some issues.

There's a double standard though, men without shirts would never be considered pornographic. Why is that ? The title of the question itself targets women instead of generalizing if swimsuit on both men or women are pornographic.

The human body is beautiful thing, it's the mindset of those viewing the body and the motivation behind the person promoting the images that make it pornographic. That's why in 2014 people get upset when a women breastfeeds in public, we put meaning to what we see. In some civilizations a topless women is just that, not a sexual object.

Hi rizen1, ?

"If you're talking about, lets use Victoria secret product catalog it's not pornographic material."

As for Victoria's secret's product catalog, if you were a parent and had boys at the age of puberty. Would you let them look at this or keep it in their room? Your answer will indicate if it's pornography or not. The worldly marketing technique is just that. The clothing can be seen just as good on a mannequin. As for the Victoria's secret's product, behind closed doors with man and wife would be the only acceptable reason to wear. Yet I would hope the couples love would be good enough that they would not need these products.

"it's a marketing tactic. Some /most women dress sexy with other women in mind (competition), sorry guys. If you're already her target and she knows where you're going to be, then yes you will influence her choice of clothing."

If a woman has to dress sexy and use worldly marketing tactics to get a man, what type of man is she getting? Would those worldly marketing tactics get a godly man? If you wouldn't dress that way at church, a church function or just being in public with Christian friends, Why would you dress that way. What does the bible tell you how women should dress. Men and Women alike, should dress in accordance to what is good and acceptable in god's eyes.

Once we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior and we fully submit and commit our life to Him. In all we do for serving the lord, may it be for "His" Honor, Glory and Praise. For we are just the mere vessels to deliver His word to glorify the Kingdom of God. In all we do and who we are, may the Holy Spirit shine in us as a beacon of light to bring the lost souls to Jesus Christ our Lord and savior.

Greetings @rizen1

It is perhaps different here in Australia to what its like in the USA, as Victoria Secret has to be one of the most unmodest, tarty 'pornographic' swimwear sites that I viewed

It's headings for it's swimming costumes are:
It's all about the big reveal ( the names of the individual swimwear that I won't write here, but they include the words hot and sexy etc)

Shop while you watch our most revealing suits ever made (video)
And the pictures leave very little to the imagination

And this is all freely available for minors to see.....to me it is a form of needless pornography

Why does Victoria's secret have to have models? Couldn't it be just the clothing? How about drawn figures or mannequins? Walking by a Victoria's secret in a mall, I see more large posters of a woman,
than clothing or anything else.

"They too can look and feel sexy". Why do women feel this need to be sexually desirable? (Admittedly some men do also, but why?)

"A person who struggle with excessive masturbation"? Any masturbation at all is excessive and sin. I find it extremely doubtful that anyone masturbates without sexual fantasies in their minds.

A double stand, men without shirts -- I tend to agree with you that isn't considered pornographic, but I also believe it should be. An elderly over weight man without a shirt likely doesn't
cause sensual thoughts for most women, however a muscular handsome man might be a problem.

The human body may be a beautiful thing (I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I have seen some less beautiful than others) but it was not meant to be put on display.
God meant for us to be modest.

In some civilizations a topless woman is just that, not a sexual object. -- In some civilizations sacrificing children is acceptable. In some civilizations killing people who don't believe what
you believe is acceptable. In some civilizations homosexuality is acceptable. Just because some cultures do something doesn't make it OK in God's eyes.

Greetings all
This is from Bagster's Daily Light today (January 15th)

Some fitting words from scripture that perhaps will provoke some thought for this thread

My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken Thou me according to Thy word.
Psalm 119:25

If ye ... be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
For . . . your life is hid with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:1-3

Our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself.
Philippians 3:20-21

The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Galatians 5:17

Brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Romans 8:12, 13

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.
1 Peter 2:11

Models provide the sexuality that holds the attention of those who don't have these models in their home. It is the taboo element, that little smack of naughty that gives the viewer the incentive to stay pinnrd to the page and the longer the persons attention is anchored there the better chance of that person noticing the product and even more important the name brand of the product.

To say that something is not pornographic just because there is no depiction of sex is to forget that all pornography is created in the minds of men. People can have sexual fantasies of just about everything imaginable but a scantly clad person of the opposite sex provides the actor or actress in many impromptu plays of the heart and mind.

My response is based on the question of if a swimsuit magazine is pornographic. If the topic is about nudity or modesty and its acceptability it would be different.

My approach in answering the question is based on our cultural representation of what pornographic images are. How we see the world is based on our location and culture and does not reflect the rest of the world. To compare the beauty of a woman’s body to the cultural practice of human sacrifice is, vulgar, offensive and not comparable. This has nothing to do with acceptance. There was no attempt in imposing that people should embrace nudity, but to expose cultures deemed uncivilized or savage, where men were able to function despite women being topless. Are these the men who run the porn industry and Hollywood? Countries that control the porn industry are the civilized ones wearing clothes, who take offense to public breastfeeding. In the United States studies have repeatedly shown that the biggest porn consumers live in the bible belt red states. For my Korean friends it’s normal to be naked in bathhouses scrubbing the backs of a friend or relative in the view of others. The behavior is not sexual in manner, but an outsider might find the experience arousing. Therefore because this cultural practice is not normal to us should we view them with scorn?

I purposely choose the Victoria secret magazine because it’s marketed to women not men. A man that goes to VS’s website to take a peek have serious problems and should seek help. Again the marketing of sexy clothing is no different to men cologne commercial. The concept you buy this spray and you’ll be successful with a beautiful woman. Do these images help weak men who have issues? No it does not. Would removing these images prevent perverted thoughts from men and women? No.

The fashion industry is predominantly male despite it’s intended market is female. Lady gaga, Madonna etc. were all dressed by men. The music and Movie industry also male dominated.

The only way imagery of women can change, is when men are willing to be part of this change. You ask (B-A-C) "They too can look and feel sexy". Why do women feel this need to be sexually desirable? It is man’s interpretation that because a women is dressed a certain way it’s for his attention. Why is that? Why can’t it be linked to her own self-esteem, self worth or free will?

I mentioned the double standard, in men being shirtless brought not wanting to look and you said, " An elderly over weight man without a shirt likely doesn't cause sensual thoughts for most women, B-A-C." Again people attach the sexual meaning or lustful thoughts to others/things...there is such a thing as Fat Fetishism.

When the woman’s body is no longer used as a sexual object, we would stop viewing it as such, it would also change the behavior of women and how they dress because men’s attitudes towards sex, sexy would change.

In our society women, girls that are raped are left feeling guilty, Why? What is our society saying about female attracting attention? What message is society saying about female reproduction, that young girls feel ashamed or dirty when they get their period?

We attach sexual meaning to things & people, these meanings may reflect how we were socialized or individual choice.

Agalmatophilia - this is when people are attracted to dolls and statues, they have intimate relationships with these items, copraphillia – attracted to feces, autonepiophilia – people who find pleasure in wearing diapers, and the list of sexual disorders goes on. The viewing of porn or seeing pornographic images in anything should be given a paraphillia name. To stress again, we add meanings to things and people. The topic is not about modesty, nudity or dress code, the question is about pornographic images. The answer, there are sexy images created for fantasy and sexy images to make us spend our money. A pervert will find pleasure in both or anything he or she can get their hands on.

Chad answered the question with this verse,

Hi rizen1

Please support your last reply with some scripture so I might understand the Godly answer that you're giving. It sounds to me that your reply is the way of the world. Could you also answer this question: Yet who is it promoting temptation for someone all to sin? Who is it that's corrupting today's society to make someone believe dressing seductively is acceptable for society? And what did they call the women in those days that dressed promoting lust?

May we all be blessed with the truth of the God's word.
