Christian Rock? Confused!!

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

I think your friend is wrong and has misguided notions.Music is from God it is the content that determines it's value and wheter it is uplifting or destructive.

Christian rock is almost as old as rock and roll itself. The Byrds song Turn, Turn, Turn. Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky. The Doobie Brothers Jesus is Just Alright With Me. What about Larry Norman or Randy Stonehill? Yes, it's obscure by today's standards, but it was really good rock music.

Then you have U2 which started in the early 80s. Jars of Clay have been around a long, long time, too.

Yes, rock & roll has been a tool for satan's deceptions and traps. But, there are plenty of peopel In Christ making music that praises, worships, and reminds us all we're all saved by the mighty Grace and Glory of God!

I've recently put together a Christian rock band myself. It's my first since I was fully born again 4 months ago. Previous to that, I had been in many metal, rock, and punk bands. This, however, is the most satisfying, and best music I've ever written.

I may share some rough practice clips sometime, in case anyone was interested. It's inspired by indie rock musically, but it's wholly Christian lyrically.
