Can anyone suggest some good Christian rock bands? I find a lot of christian music boring and I don't think that makes me a bad person or sin for it. Its not the lyrics I just cannot get into the melodies. And some of it sounds kind of depressing. Does anyone know some good up beat type Christian music and could place a list of the bands? Thanks!

What are some examples of bands that you don't like? That'll help narrow it down, I think, since everyone has different taste. For instance, I love Building 429, but you might not be a fan, ya know?

I really don't know by name..ha..I'm bad with names. But just bands that in general have an up beat type thing going on. And not something that sounds to sorrow. I listened to the song by Building 429 called listen to the sound. Something like that sounds good. Just a good beat. Maybe I can help narrow it by saying something like you would listen to while doing a sport? Something exciting. Thanks!

Anathallo
Ascend the Hill
All Sons and Daughters
Daniel Bashta
100 Year Storm
Cool Hand Luke
The Arrows
Pedro the Lion (only the early stuff)
Gungor

Red
Underoath
Larry Norman (Great Lyrics with Old School Rock)
August Burns Red
Norma Jean
Destroy The Runner
Stick To Your Guns

Hope you find what you are looking for :thumbs_up

I'm an old guy and have been playing guitar for about 15 years on the worship team. I relate to the bordom with worship songs especially after practicing them over and over. It would be the same as if I was in a seculare band for the same amount of time. I've noticed that people in general are bored with the music presented these days. I just stopped listening to music and when I go to practice or perform an old song it becomes inspiring again. I think we listen to music too much.

I personally LOVE the band "Flyleaf". The lead singer is female, and the band is Christian; though they don't call themselves a Christian rock band most of their songs speak to their deep faith. Flyleaf is actually what brought me to Christianity to begin with. Their passion really spoke to me and I couldn't turn away from that. =)

This is my TOP10 christian rock bands:
Skillet
Red
Relient K
Hillsong United
Thousand Foot Krutch
Casting Crowns
Kutless
Hawk Nelson
Stryper
Switchfoot

Hope you like it!

Skillet
Red
Jimmy Eat World
Shinedown (while not a Christian band per say, they do have good messages into their songs)

My absolute favorite christian rock band ( actually my favorite band out of all bands )- is Further Seems Forever. I'm listening to it right now. :)

Say No to Christian Rock

All rock music, pop, R&B, Jazz, reggae, Rap, hip-hop, is an invention of the devil. It has the root from the satanic music. Similarly Christian Rock is NO different than secular rock music and brothers and sisters rock music does not bring nor brought glory to God, many christian rock songs also contain evil back-masking. Christian rock has been invented by the Satan to lead astray the children of God from the way, truth and the life. It is totally unhealthy spiritually, I pray you therefore my brothers/sisters just kick on its face. If you truly want to know what kind of worship God expects from his disciples/children/people/church here it is:
John 4: 23 & 24: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. That's all. Very simple. Outside of this God throws our music, talent, melody, lyrics and every glamor into the garbage. No matter what we believe in, our belief remains just a belief nothing else as long as it does not comply with the scripture. Please do not take me wrong, there is nothing against anybody here, this is just a simple truth. This is my duty to warn every fellow Christians/bretherns/sisters. If you think I am wrong please do your own research. God bless.

Dear brother, I beg to differ with you.

Psalm 150 150 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

If I have stringed instruments, trumpets, saxophones, drums and keyboards, etc., the Lord tells me here to praise Him on them, and to do it loudly. Or should we praise the Lord in a delicate and soft fashion? I love church hymns and praise music, but I also love some Christian rock. My heart is pure in this and I am not condemned for it. I love my Lord and if the lyrics and the band are God-fearing, the sounds they make don't overshadow the message. Just because you don't like a particular sound it doesn't mean it is wrong for someone else.

[h=3]Romans 14[/h]
14 I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. 21 It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.[f] 22 Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

Therefore, brother, if certain music is sin to you, it is sin to you. It is not sin to me, and I will play it and listen to it with joy unto the Lord.

hi
my turn
yippeee

no they are not bands.

so far all the ones I have read are a margin or three on the fluffy side of ROCK and not really in the genre
even as something called christian rock
more like nervous little squeaks and attempts to turn the volume knob a bit more and hope it doesn't sound too trashy
and as I am only stating my silly opinion, please don't be offended

as far as the use of rock goes:

music is a compilation of notes like letters are letters and it is not until you place them together or compose them side by side selahs included that they make music or words and like words, there are good and uplifting words and so with music

if you have to use christian rock at least stick to the rock part, classic rock is a good place to begin

but I do tend to agree with the writer above @rufusisrael
http://www.talkjesus.com/musicians/42157-christian-rock-2.html#post220705

a few years of doing without a few years with and then a few more without, a bit like look to the left look to the right and look to the left again before crossing the road has left a strong impression on me that we can do really really well without it and like a lot of modern habits or pleasures or indulgences, we find them less appealing the longer we stay away from them and in the case of ROCK, it has to be LOUD to appreciate or it's not rock and loud doesn't really sit well all the time and certainly not in most company, so we need to consider a lot in what and less in guess

In the early days of the church organ it was called "the devil's bagpipes" ; now try and rip one away form a religious person...
It is the heart, the message, the worship, and the intent God is looking for- not the arrangement of notes, the speed of the rhythm or the volume at which it is played.

good point but
a question could be asked:
is worship for singular purpose or is it for the Body when they meet, worship being in this case only the cute term used for music and song?
worship is perhaps something quite different than secular church performances
for singular worship which does not edify the Body, a mountain or stream or even a closet will do
for group or Body worship is rock going to do what we might really call worship?
just wondering

The fact that you find Christian music boring, must be because you are wanting to merely entertain your soul with it, rather than develop and grow your spirit from the biblical message it conveys. If this is the case then do not feel that you must listen to Christian music in order to appear religious to others, save yourself from such pretense. A lot of Christian music is just plain awful.. for me what is worse than a worldly non-Christian song is a Christian song that tries to appear worldly..or a worldly song that tries to appear Christian. There is one thing God doesn't like and that is having one foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom of God. God likes us to be either one way or the other, not a mixture.

Rom 12:2 "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world" applies to music as well.

You know Stryper's song "to hell with the devil" has double meaning lol.

I like Stryper and Alice Cooper, he's a Christian.
