Acceleration of the ice caps melting does not contradict anything in the Bible, nor does erosion of the coastline, rising sea levels or a changing climate. You've chosen an interpretation of a couple of verses that comes into conflict with commonsense scientific principles, data recorded by thousands of scientists, and the observations of ordinary people all over the world. Simply put, you are wrong in your understanding of science, the bible and ignorant of the facts.

If this were a small matter, I'd have given up the to and fro with you a long time ago, but climate change is poised to have a profound effect on our future. Your ignorance, cloaked in passive aggressive sarcasm, is not just disappointing - it's dangerous. People will die because people such as you choose not to take action.

No, I've chosen verses in the Bible that show this worry and frenzy over climate change and global warming is all hype. The verses are clear in what they are saying.

I have no problem with science as long as it knows its place. Which it usually doesn't. It speaks of things 'dogmatically', though it will deny it. It speaks of things 'absolutely' though it will deny it. It exercises much 'faith' in science, though it will deny it.

Let me ask you, is Pluto a planet.? It was when I was a kid going to school. But now, science has determined Pluto is not a planet. Gee, they changed their mind. And, they may well change it again. Why? Because they are still learning. They don't know everything. God does know everything. So, when He says there will always be cold, winter, heat, summer, I believe Him. When He says the sea shall not cross it's bounds, I believe Him. When you say you have proof that that is not so....I don't believe you or you proof.

What do you think of the global warming agenda (aka climate change)? Seems like there's generally just 2 sides to this subject. Those who push that there is a global warming and those who think it's all man-made, a hoax. What are your thoughts?

Below excerpt from: How should a Christian view climate change?

It is interesting to note how the phrase "climate change" is replacing "global warming" as the catch phrase of environmentalism. Some scientists/climatologists are certain that human activity, primarily greenhouse gas emissions, is impacting the environment. What they are not certain about is precisely what the impact will be. A couple of decades ago, "global cooling" was the fear, with warnings of a new ice age being the primary scare tactic. While most scientists/climatologists today believe that global warming is the primary risk, uncertainty has led to "climate change" being used as a less specific warning. Essentially, the climate change message is this: greenhouse gas emissions are damaging the environment, and, while we are not certain what the effect will be, we know it will be bad.

Climatologists, ecologists, geologists, etc., are unanimous in recognizing that the earth has gone through significant temperature/climate changes in the past. Despite the fact that these climate changes were obviously not caused by human activity, many of these same scientists are convinced that human activity is the primary cause of climate change today. Why? There seem to be three primary motivations.

First, some truly and fully believe the greenhouse gas emissions are causing climate change. They honestly examine the data and come to that conclusion. Second, some hold to the climate change mindset with an almost religious fervor. Many within the environmentalist movement are so obsessed with protecting "Mother Earth" that they will use any argument to accomplish that goal, no matter how biased and unbalanced it is. Third, some promote the climate change mentality for financial gain. Some of the strongest proponents of climate change legislation are those who stand to have the greatest financial gain from "green" laws and technologies. Before the climate change mindset is accepted, it should be recognized that not everyone who promotes climate change is doing so from an informed foundation and pure motives.

How, then, should a Christian view climate change? We should view it skeptically and critically, but at the same time honestly and respectfully. Most importantly, though, Christians should look at climate change biblically. What does the Bible say about climate change? Not much. Likely the closest biblical examples of what could be considered climate change would be the end times disasters prophesied in Revelation 6–18. Yet these prophecies have nothing to do with greenhouse gas emissions; rather, they are the result of the wrath of God, pouring out justice on an increasingly wicked world. Also, a Christian must remember that God is in control and that this world is not our home. God will one day erase this current universe (2 Peter 3:7-12) and replace it with the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21–22). How much effort should be made "saving" a planet that God is eventually going to obliterate and replace with a planet so amazing and wonderful that the current earth pales in comparison?

Is there anything wrong with going green? No, of course not. Is trying to reduce your carbon footprint a good thing? Probably so. Are solar panels, wind mills, and other renewable energy sources worth pursuing? Of course. Are any of these things to be the primary focus of followers of Jesus Christ? Absolutely not! As Christians, our focus should be proclaiming the truth of the gospel, the message that has the power to save souls. Saving the planet is not within our power or responsibility. Climate change may or may not be real, and may or may not be human-caused. What we can know for certain is that God is good and sovereign, and that Planet Earth will be our habitat for as long as God desires it to be. Psalm 46:2-3, "Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

Psalm 46:2-3, "Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foamand the mountains quake with their surging."

This may refer to the dormant Mt. Cumbre Vieja in the Canary islands.

The west side of the mountain is unstable and one day will slide into the Atlantic, sending a Mega Tsunami racing towards the east coast of the Americas that will surge over Florida.

Very interesting topic, thanks Chad.

It is interesting to read the posts already added, the reasons given seem to swing, one way where views are based on what scientists say or have said, of the other way which is back to creation.

Creation and looking after the planet, for me, seems to be the most important view point. But do we really look after the planet, No!

We are in a throw away age, if it breaks bin it and get another, products are built in components, if you cannot get a component, bin it and get another. Plastic was seen as a revolution, it lasts, it doesn't rust, it is easy to mould, it has a lot of advantages, except it is just another item in the list, if it doesn't work bin it item.

Thirty years ago when I was at university, we studied re cycling, the Scandinavian countries were way ahead and were already ready doing it very effectively. It has taken 25 years for the UK to start and they are still making a mess of it, rubbish has been sent to China for recycling only to be told they no longer want the waste and are returning it. The fuel used to get there, pollution in the seas, on it goes. Man is to blame for these things and so much more.

We take for granted the massive amount of planes that fly our skies, the spaceships that cause further turbulence at they break the earths atmosphere, the number of satellites circling the earth in space have all gone through the atmosphere, each creating its own turbulence in the air and when breaking the atmosphere.

I remember in the 1950's, early 1960's summers where summers, winters were winters, guaranteed. Everything in the world has got worse since 1948.

Scientists always seem to come up with answers, or a term they use, they only come up with ideas why we may have the issues today, and ways they think will correct the issues. They have knowledge, data, loads of data, more data than ever before.

Daniel 12:4 (NKJV)
4 "But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase."

Some say this verse refers to increase in travel and knowledge in the end times, some scholars are insure, which ever view you have one cannot deny it makes sense in these latter days based on the massive increases in travel and knowledge we see and have seen since the 1960's.

Are we seeing Climate Change, are we seeing Global Warming, we are definitely seeing the terms provided by the scientists, but are the scientist right, according to the scientists they are.

We are very blessed to live in the age we do, we see more than the prophets ever did, we see more than the apostles ever did, in fact we see more now than anyone could have dreamt about 100 years ago. Consider ourselves living 100 years ago, take the story of Noah, it was scripture, it is scripture, it is a nice story but, can you image God flooding the whole world, a saved soul yes because they believe the Word is Truth, but a none believer, come on flood the whole world. But what we are seeing now, scientist call global warming, or climate change, is the melting of the ice at the poles, it has caused a stir, scientists are going to and fro, seeking knowledge, seeking reasons, it is down to green house gases, it is down to this or that. But what we really see in part is how easy it is for God to melt the ice at the poles and flood the whole world again if he wants to, but we know he doesn't want to, He said he will never flood the whole world again. But scripture does say in the latter days of the end times, there will be raging waters in diverse places. We see these raging waters and floods all over the world, Australia, China, Japan, India, Europe, America, and more, even is the Sahara dessert, flooding has occurred, diverse places worldwide.

We can listen to the scientists, or we can listen to God, we can put our faith in scientists or we can put our faith in God.

It is right that we should look after the planet, it is not wrong for scientists should try to improve the wrongs already done, but the earth is the Lord's, man will pay the price for his sins, God's will, will be done, Jesus will return in Glory and 'make all things NEW'. It is clear why He makes all things new, man in sin is responsible for the damage caused. Man's greed for money has caused many of the issues we see today, no matter what ideas and terms the scientists come up with, the world will continue until Christ's Return when He will defeat the devil, and will 'restore' all things making them New and sin free.

God does not do 'throw away', man has created the throw away culture which can be seen throughout the world.
God does not throw away, He 'restores' He will 'Make All things New'

Thanks be to God, In Jesus Name. Amen

The global warming -- true or false -- God is in control. Each year seems to be a bit different. Over time weather patterns change. And the world-wide flood Did change everything. Sinfulness in the world Does change things over time. Sometimes it's scientific research working for Or against us. Depends on the agenda of the researchers.

And, yes, God Will restore this earth / world to what it once was -- maybe even better.

God Will restore this earth to what it once was, as He created it and said it was good - It Will be better than Adam and Eve had Sue, they only had the garden, their was no Jerusalem. We will have a much larger place, the New Heaven/New earth, it will be at least 1400 miles in length, at least 1400 miles in width, at least 1400 miles high. How can we visualise the height it is far beyond our comprehension, nothing is impossible for God. He has a wonderful new place for us, far better than Adam and Eve ever had.

Thanks be to God

1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Can it be said, if there was no "sin" in this world that the world would not be passing away?

How about anyone "believe" in "universe" warming where everything will melt with fervent heat?

2Pe 3:10 The day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a roar, the heavenly bodies will be destroyed by being burned up, and the earth with all its works will melt away.

I always did like "fireworks"

The way I read scripture brother is that the old will pass away, in that it is corrupt, and will be made new. We do not have a God that throws away, we have a God who restores and makes things new.

Bless you

I have this thing on my wall in my home, it is called a "thermostat", and when my home gets cold, the heater turns on, and when it get warm, the air conditioner turns on. The earth was designed to function in the same way as the water from the ocean evaporates over the oceans because of heat, and then moves inland to cool the land masses. The earth was made corrupt because of sin that entered the world, and is now on a collision coarse with destiny in which everything will pass away. There is nothing man can do to fix it.

Rev 21:1 THEN I saw a new sky (heaven) and a new earth, for the former sky and the former earth had passed away (vanished), and there no longer existed any sea.(AMP)

Gen 1:2 was the renewing of the earth from existing material. The new heaven, and new earth will be brand spanking new.

This is my hope too.

When creation is restored will we be free to throw our empty crisp packets into the river and not worry about consequences?

Forgive me for saying this @Hekuran but you do say some silly things at times.

Revelation 22 (NKJV)
The River of Life
22 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
4 They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
5 There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

I think there will be more than we can dream of in heaven, starting with the wedding banquet, and in the New Jerusalem, the tree of life with twelve fruits, on either side of the river of life, proceeding from the throne of grace.

Crisps, crisp packets, if you like them, eat them now. You aint going to want them in heaven

I was being silly to make a serious point.

First, the extract you quoted from revelation 22 concerns creation renewed, not heaven.

We are called into God's kingdom, and the whole of our Christian life should revolve around submitting to his loving reign. So how could anybody be complacent about polluting God's creation - whether by crisp packets or carbon emissions - when to do so in the new creation would be utterly incongruous?

I like your first line my friend

Although we will not pollute the New Earth, there is no reason why we should pollute this one, but we are all guilty at some stage/

Bless you

Climate Change, appears to have a hidden agenda. The Beast or the religious body ruled by the Blasphemous Pope whos controlled by pagan Gods of Babylon. Is claiming the solution to Climate Change is Sunday Rest the Mark of the Beast. But as Christians we know as Jesus kept The Sabbath so shall we. For it is a distinguishing Mark of God. We also know the Mark of the Beast will be a sign of worship.
