I'm not playing games or going for one-up-manship.

This is a really important issue.

That's the reason I'm posting.

Cheers to you, too, and may God bless you.

"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:14-19

Galations 3:1-3
1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

(Also you may like to read Mathew 5:17)

If you have a desire to keep the Sabbath, then that is good, but if you are keeping it so as to aid in your Salvation then you have been bewitched.
(You may like to study Ephesians 2:8, 9)

May the Holy Spirit be our true teacher.

Bless you friend .... God loves you.

I do not keep the sabbath as the Jews tried to keep it, but I do treat Saturday, the end of the week of work, as a day of rest. A time to set things aside. I try to keep it free of activities. I like to spend the day in a renewing and focusing; a preparation for the Sunday, the new day in Christ.

Having said that, if it's Saturday and I have a lamp needing to be repaired, I will drive to Home Depot or Lowe's (often having to make a couple of trips, LOL) and fix it.

I don't observe Saturday as the Sabbath, I do Sunday for a few reasons. First of all I'm a little bit troubled by what the truth really is, because I'm sure the truth is that we don't know what day the 7th day of rest is on now. Adam would have known and if he kept records they either would have been destroyed in the flood or Noah would have preserved them. However it doesn't say if Noah kept the record of the time of days. So as time has passed until now I'm sure we don't have the knowledge to have the same system of days as was when they were created. It never says which day of the week the Sabbath is, just that it's the seventh day. So I'm assuming the day of the week the day of rest is really on is not known to us.

So about 2 years ago I just decided to take Sunday as the Sabbath since that's what my parents taught me and I also thought I might get into trouble with the church authorities if I chose another day, so I quickly agreed with my adversaries and chose Sunday Matthew 5:25.

For a while I thought people were doing it on Saturday at evening because evening on Saturday is really the beginning of Sunday, which the commandments of men has changed since we now have clocks and use midnight to change days, but they really change at evening. Though now I know that certain people do do it at Friday at evening. So I see there is a split in the belief and any kingdom divided against itself cannot stand Mark 3:24. Though Jesus taught not to do as they do, but to do as they've told you to do and I've been told it's on Sunday Mathew 23:3.

Well, I was reading the Bible and thinking, that since Saturday is the last day of the week in our culture and the 7th day, I am just going to change into keeping Saturday as the Sabbath because it just makes sense even if it doesn't line up with the original days.

The sabbath is not on a saturday or sunday. It was on the last day of the week, according to the moon cycles. It was changed to reflect the roman calendar with the current days of sunday through saturday. So those who do so on saturday and those who do it on sunday, still do it wrong according to the original way it was to be done. So much for legalism. Unless you are a jew, you have no need to follow the tradition of any jewish laws and traditions. That being said, you should take one day a week to rest the body, and spirit, and to reflect on the things of God. Which day is less important than simply doing it.

Well we just had a new moon a couple days ago so we are now in the 9th month Kislev. So bless the new moon and the new month.

No...I am not a sabbath keeper nor am I of the Seventh Day denomination. Jesus allowed his followers to eat grain on the sabbath [Luke 6:1-2]. He spoke of King David and how he went into the Temple and ate the showbread dedicated to the priests which he also shared with his companions. Jesus also healed a man on the sabbath. [Luke 6:9-11 ]before healing the man with the withered hand, he asked the keepers of the law “I Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy?” . It seems that Jesus was saying that doing good on the sabbath was an acceptable service to God since he himself is Lord of the Sabbath.

Galatians 3 tells us;
18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.

22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

Peace!

Mark 2:27; Jesus said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

The Sabbath is just a day to do the things we want to do or need to do. A day away from the grind of your job.
It's not a day of worship. It's day of rest. That doesn't mean you have to take a nap, it just a day to do whatever helps you relax.

Gen 2:2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Gen 2:3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

It's the only commandment not repeated in the New Testament.

I observe the sabbath when I cease from my works and rest instead in the finished work of Christ.

A day is just a day, by any other name. If someone wants to observe it as special, power to them, but they shouldn't ever have a problem with me or someone else not doing the same.

Blessings,

Travis
