@Dave M I'm in the UK and don't have party affiliation. We've a new centre-left government, which won the general election by a landslide.
They've inherited power when the nation is in a terrible state: economy, infrastructure, public finances, trust in institutions are all in a mess.
In their first few weeks in power they've done some very good things. There will be immediate action to resolve a prison's overcrowding crisis, they have removed a ban on windfarms to generate sustainable electricity, reinstalling house-building targets for councils, stressed the need for a ceasefire in Gaza, cancelled a scheme to remove asylum-seekers to Rwanda, taking a cooperative and practical approach to the problem of people crossing the English channel in dangerous boats to claim asylum. The new government has quickly made moves to establish cooperative relations with neighbouring countries and with regional administrations.
Things that I am not supportive of:
It looks like they will keep up tough talk about immigration - even though our economy is dependent on a workforce from overseas. I'd like them to have a serious conversation with the electorate about the choices ahead of us.
They have refused to lift the restriction on benefits to families with more than two children, saying that the economy is too weak to be able to afford it. This means more children growing up in poverty with poorer health and education outcomes.
They are committed to renewing our nuclear deterrant. Our nuclear deterrent has very little military use - it's just a very expensive way of the UK showing it belongs with the big powerful countries of the world.
