I'm rather worried

I suppose so though no one has put it quite like you have before though. Some people have also said they are spreading the word of God and I later found out its slightly twisted around or edited. I'm careful with things these days.

Well, it is important for Christians to be well-versed in the word, and by the wisdom of God that He gives, to avoid twisting. I do tell it like it is, and people do get their backs up sometimes, but it is the desire for people to know truth of scripture---and not religion---and the deep, deep love of God for them that impels me in life.

Here are your words to start this thread: "I think it would be best for my own sanity to take a break from this site. I have read some things that really worry and scare me on here."
This appears to have some pretty concerning first impressions...sanity, worry, scare. What I am saying is that I wouldn't want you to leave here with some form of spiritual doubt. "Bondage" is very common in the Christian world; basically, it is process by which one has doubts or confusion about a truth.....in other words, being held in bondage to an untruth....one becomes worried or scared over a Biblical / spiritual truth. Jesus said he wanted you to be set free by the truth, not held in bondage to an untruth!
I have anxiety and it can flair up sometimes when on forums like this though I am more in control of that these days. Sanity wise I start to doubt what I have been taught my whole life and I start questioning a lot of stuff.

I am told this is the word of God then another person tells me "No this is the word of God and that's wrong." (Not in those exact words of course.) and so on. It gets confusing after a while understandably. I feel like its all some people want to tell me these days.

If you think your opinion is Gods word and its truth then that's fine for you and I hope it makes you happy in life.

All you need to do, Julie, is simply ask us where the scripture is that supports what any of us say, and we will be glad to provide you with that---no problemo!

Alright thank you. I hope I have not seemed rude at all on these forums.

No, you haven't come off as rude. I have detected your alarm, though, but in patience and in love, I and others here are more than willing to help you, and will endeavour to use the truth of scripture.

HI Julie as a former Catholic born and raised, I am freshly out of that religion, I can only tell you that once I started studying the bible and seeking Gods word it became clear for me I had to leave the Catholic Religion, most all catholics I know do not read the bible, and it is never encouraged by the church. You may be getting a different vibe from this place verse a catholic forum, because this place is about the bible and Jesus and not religion (mans traditions), shoot when I was a Catholic I did not even know the difference.

Please do not take my statement wrong, I know plenty of Catholics who have a great relationship with Jesus.

@Julie.S
Kind of figured you were Catholic from your bio. I would tell you the doctrinal differences between Catholicism and why I have my issues with them. But I won't. However, I will let you know that I was Catholic myself in my teens. You'll find others here that were as well. The reverse is true if I were to go to a Catholic forum. I will not go into the reasons why, because you would take it as a personal attack and not see it as me trying to answer why I am no longer one. @Dave M said it rightly that this forum is about Jesus and the Bible.

There are forums here at Talk Jesus where these discussions have taken place. To the unwary. They have in a certain way been brutal. It's difficult to believe something and have another tare it down and not take it personal. That is why it must be about Jesus and the Word of God. Whether you're Catholic, Protestant, Non-Denominational. Introduction of Church doctrine can and will find differences between almost any two people.

Our ability on how we handle this, is a good gauge on whether we should have gotten involved in these type of discussions in the first place. If we get frustrated, or let it worry us. Then its probably would have been better if we had left it alone. At least until you've done your homework!

Know Julie that there is nothing wrong with questioning. Just make sure you check up on what you're being told. Anyone can quote scripture. Even Satan did this in tempting Jesus Christ in the desert. One of the best verses that tell you what you should do in regards to God's Word is "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Like I said before "homework"

Just know it's not what the church says, or what an individual may say that makes it truth. Look to the Word of God and see whether what you have heard or read conflicts with it or not. That truly should be the barometer you should use. Of cause much prayer first and foremost for revelation/understanding through the Holy Spirit really helps!

I really hope this helps, even if its just a little. :)
Truly with the Love of Jesus Christ Julie.

You can tell me why you aren't anymore if you want and I may actually agree with you. I do not plan to stay with the Catholic church forever myself. I do it mostly for my family at the moment but when I am older and moved out I will probably either become Quaker or Non-Denominational. Thanks for being nice also.

Oh I don't take it wrongly I actually agree. No one ever made me read the Bible though I did read some of it for a Philosophy class however its much faster and easier to listen to it being read for me then to read it. I also did not choose to be Catholic that decision was made for me after I was adopted however my family seems open to me changing also and there have been no arguments over it thankfully.

Me nice? I give all the glory to God Julie. He has changed me to where I am now, and I will continue to give Him the Glory as He continues to change me. It truly is less of us and more of Him in us Julie. I won't want it any other way.

Tell you why I'm not Catholic? Nope won't do it Maybe after you've grown a little and have asked a few questions down the road......then maybe.....You said you might be a Quaker??????????aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh say it ain't so???? Sorry I couldn't help myself :(

Whoever it is or is not. Do so in prayer. He will guide you to where He wants you. Just trust in Him. Just please take it to heart to grow in His Word as well. Daily Devotionals help. If you can find a Bible Study. Maybe even one on line. Just don't neglect this part of your growth either.

A preacher I used to listen to over the radio once said the following and makes a lot of sense as it pertains to the Bible.

Read it to be wise.
Believe it to be safe.
Practice it to be Holy.

God Bless and know you're never alone in Christ Jesus!

Yeah I said I am considering it not that I will. I went to a Quaker school at one point and meeting for worship is very relaxing.
You don't have to tell me now I'm not going to beg you to tell me either haha.

Then don't listen to others. God gives you the power. Read his word , I mean from beginning to end and, then make up your own mind. God is not a God of confusion. I am sorry and will pray if you have any illness with anxiety....please be sure and get professional help with that and read God's word. Other than that, if you truly believe, then he lives in you, that's all that really matters, not what someone else other than God says. Always remember this: what ever anyone tells you, if in any way possible it can result in a negative, then it is not of God and move on.

Oh I have had help with anxiety since I was a kid and I can now handle it myself in most cases you just learn to work through it over time. Its not as bad as it is in others that I know. Thank you for the concern though its nice to see people care about that stuff these days some people just treat you differently when they find out and it hurts a little. Thanks for being so pleasant.
