Is smoking Marijuana a sin?

Greetings @Thiscrosshurts

Our aim should always be Purity, it should be, to be Righteous in God's eyes.

1 John 3:1-24 (NKJV)
1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest:
Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous.
13 Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you.

14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.

20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.

21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

there also needs to be balance.

There are those who won't use alcohol in any form for anything. it has many uses -- some good and some not so good.
Same can be applied to any plant or even animals.

please excuse the caps. my keyboard has a problem. [FIXED, Sue}

Marijuana has been misused for a long time. What works for one person won't for another. When it is used because nothing else does work for pain or nausia or 'whatever' and it can provide for a better quality of life for particular people -- then -- God does know their hearts.

We have a tendency to want to 'play' holy spirit in other people's lives.

Recreational use of anything isn't good. well -- especially marijuana

I found out the other day Marijuana is legal in the UK, it has been for 12 months... but has only been prescribes a handful of times.

Why has it not been prescribed as one would expect... because it is not licenced by medical profession.

It's a crazy world, government makes it legal so it applies in law, medical profession won't prescribe it because it is not licenced, so they would be breaking the law if they did.

So often the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, meanwhile those who need it don't get it!

@Brother-Paul --
kind of something like -- when individual states recognized same-sex marriages but couples had to be careful what state they might want to move to because it might not be legal in the other state. It wasn't recognized federally. so -- if they were in a non-legal state and were in an accident and only immediate family could be informed of a patient's condition -- dr's could not tell a 'friend' -- and only immediate family members were allowed in the room with the patient , it wasn't appreciated. and if immediate family members didn't like the 'friend' / didn't approve of their relationship - - then that 'friend' was not allowed to see them.

technicalities can / do make / break a case.

or laws are stated in such a way as to really be non-effective.

You are the only one who knows the real you. No one on this forum does. Answer this question. Would you smoke weed if Jesus was sitting with you? Please don't post your answer.

I actually have a question myself..

Is Jesus Christ absent when we choose to sin? Then I can answer the posed question better.

Jesus is never absent. We don't sin in a vacuum. Every thought, word and act we have and do is recorded and we will answer for them. My only hope to avoid damnation is that Yeshua (or Jesus as he is incorrectly known) pleads my case. That is a guaranteed "not guilty" judgement.

well -- Jesus Christ is actually in heaven preparing a place for believers -- John 14;6

it's the Holy Spirit that indwells believers. upon their salvation and never leaves us. He's the one who convicts us of our sins.

When we are born again we become new creations, the Spirit of Christ dwells in us, the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin, we become righteous in Him.

The connection is made between our spirit and His Spirit

Romans 8:14-17 (NKJV)
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Yeshua (Jesus) is YHVH in the flesh.
To say "Jesus Christ is Lord" (Phil 2:11; Romans 10:9) is to confess Him as Adonai -- or YHVH -- Himself.
Jesus said, if you have seen me you have seen the Father. I and the Father are one.

Jesus is in heaven at the right hand of God, interceding all our prayers, He is waiting for the command to Return for His Bride, His Church.

Luke 22:69 (NKJV)
Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.

Romans 8:34 (NKJV)

Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Shalom

I may have a slightly different opinion as I am a cannabis grower. This is what I do as a career and I have been growing cannabis for over 10 years. I have seen a Afghanistan combat vet with PTSD and chrons (sp?) disease get off of his state prescribed opioids that made him a zombie and made his symptoms worse. He only uses cannabis now and is able to cope with issues, hold a full time job, and to be a great father. He is also a Christian.

I have seen an alcoholic who couldn't hold a job and was killing himself with alcohol, he no longer drinks, he has a full time career now and is a better husband and better person. He also uses cannabis and is a Chrsitan.

I could keep going on the people I've seen cannabis help, there are thousands of people like this. It is a medicine, a supplement, food, clothing, etc. There are a thousand uses for this plant. The plant is a gift as with all plants. It's how we choose to use it. Now, it can also be abused, but so can caffeine, fast food, video games, we can abuse anything and use it wrongly.

@Anthony Kyle -- i THOUGHT IT WAS ILLEGAL TO GROW IT?! aND, YOU dO HAVE A POINT. hOW WE USE THINGS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. aLL WE HEAR ABOUT ARE THE BAD THINGS.

pLEASE EXCUSE THE ALL CAPS -- MY COMPUTER KEYBOARD HAS BEEN 'STUCK' ON CAPS LOCK SINCE YESTERDAY.

THANKS FOR SHARING.

It depends on where you live if it's legal or illegal to grow.

Greetings Anthony

There have been many scares with many drugs over the years, especially when they were first found or became available, morphine, etc. Strong drugs.

The issue I think is not the plant, it is that it has either not been made legal or it is not licenced.

In the UK, it was made legal last year, but medics will not prescribe it because it is not licenced. So in effect they have fed the black market.

There are many countries now growing it for medicine, Israel is a more recent one to join in.

Bless you

So the moment someone is baptized does that mean that the Holy spirit is permanent with the believer?
And what are your views on people who believe in the name Jesus Christ and call him Jesus even though the way you pointed out, YESHUA is correct in Hebrew,
Will they be pardoned by the faith they had in the English variant of the name Jesus, will Jesus confessers go to hell in your version of the Bible?

Greetings Frank

We are born again the moment we truly repent from the heart and ask Jesus into our heart, to be our Lord and Saviour.

We are baptised by the Holy Spirit but also need to be baptised by water.

John 3:3-7 (NKJV)
3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

Many are baptised with water after committing their life back to God through Jesus.

Jesus is Yeshua, Yeshua is Jesus, English, Hebrew, Hebrew English
If you were in Japan He would be イエス
But He would still be Jesus, He would still be Yeshua.

He loves you brother, He knows your heart, you can call Him either, He loves you, He will intercede your prayers, He will not forsake you (providing you are born again)

You can call Him, Lord, Lord, He knows your heart, He knows what comes from the heart. Lip service He knows well and that doesn't come from the heart.

There is only One Bible brother, but there are many translations, Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding my friend. He will guide you, God loves a searching heart.

Trust, believe, repent, submit, walk with Jesus, He wants to walk with us all, He wants us to do God's Will, take His yoke upon you Frank, it is light and easy to bare, Jesus Loves you, we do too.

Bless you

Will you please explain to me how Jesus is not Yeshua? I never find proof for such claims..

I'm sorry for not being more clear. I object to the Son of God being called Jesus. His name is a Hebrew name. It is Yeshua. It's like if you meet a Mexican whose name is Juan and you call him John, or a Russian named Ivan and you call him John. That is our English interpretation of the name and is incorrect. I can tell you from knowing both that they will not like it.

I dont know if it's true or not but maybe if we called on the name of Yeshua instead of Jesus more prayers would be answered. Who knows.

If the name of the Son of Yahweh is so freely mistranslated the question for me becomes "what else is being mistranslated?"

The main information is still true. Yahweh is perfect in all ways, he has committed no sin, ever, he has no beginning and no end. He demands the same in us if we are to be acceptable to Him.

The only way we can be acceptable is to believe Yeshua is His Son, died on the cross as the substitutional sacrifice for us and came back from the dead and now lives with our Father. If we accept this we get to live forever free from sickness, sorrow or condemnation. We will be truly free from our past and will live with His Son and Yahweh. Unfortunately this does not apply to our current lives. We still have to apply effort to get through. Just remember the Spotter.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

On the day of Pentecost, when they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues, there were thousands of people that heard them and were amazed because each was hearing the message (about Yeshua) in their own language. If Americans had existed and been there at that time, I don't think Yeshua would have been offended that some of them were speaking in English and calling Him Jesus. He knows of Whom we speak when we call Him Jesus. He knows our hearts. And he has many many 'names'. Yeshua, Jesus, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, the Word, Bridegroom, Messiah, Son of God, Son of Man, Lamb of God, Light of the World, Son of the Living God, The Christ, Faithful and True, Wonderful, Counselor, Lord of Hosts...to mention a few.

I totally agree @HisBeloved and @FrankDSegura

God knows our hearts, He knows what we are going to say before we say it.

There are a few people who want to be right with God, don't we all, but go to extremes and get things out of balance, although your intentions are good @Mart is doesn't matter one iota whether Jesus is called Yeshua or another name according to The Word of a world language. He knows your heart my friend, if you want to call Jesus, Yeshua, all the time then do so, but please do not expect all to do so. I often use Yeshua but not all the time, God knows our heart and that is the most important thing for us all to now.

We are to call on the Name of the Lord, what ever Name that be, but also pray to the Father through Jesus, Yeshua, our Lord and Saviour. Yeshua ha Messiach (Sometime spelt Yeshua Hamessiach again it doesn't matter which)

Shalom

Think God said He put the herbs on earth for man’s use. Think there is a passage indicating a little wine was good for man. Not to be a drunker but just to ease a little stress. Think that is what Noah did shortly after getting off the ark. Got him some grapes going and made him some wine and pulled him a good drunk. He probably didn’t think it was good the next day. God knows even with Him in your life, life can still get tough at times. Just think God you know him in your heart before the real tough things happen.

From all the articles I’ve read on weed it sure seem to be very beneficial for a number medical issues, pain relief being the main benefit. If I had pain issues I would sure give weed a try over taking the synthetic petroleum base chemicals use to manufacture drugs used in pain meds today. The side effects of some of these drugs are worst than the symptoms you being treated for.

Greetings @Beresheet

A little wine is not for stress but is for the stomach, the digestive system. But there are warnings of drinking to much.

1 Timothy 5:23 (NKJV)
23 No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities.

I find it annoying, I am sure you do too, when evangelists preach, come to Christ and all will be well, health etc. Jesus said quite the opposite.

Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

But what Jesus did say, was come to me trust me, I will help you through your troubles, I will always be there for you. Abide in me and I will abide in you John Chapter 15.

Bless you
