Is smoking Marijuana a sin?

There is a reason they call it devils lettuce and the gateway drug.
There is a spiritual plane that exists directly over our physical. With the use of mind altering
drugs you can access parts of the spiritual. It is witchcraft in God's eyes.
The only spirits you will likely encounter there are Satan and the other fallen angels (demons) unless
God is so gracious to you and allows that not to happen because of your ignorance. But if you
do it knowingly that you are doing it contrary to God's will or to get you to stop, He will allow
them to mess with you/scare you. Marijuana is the gateway drug because it is usually the first
mind altering drug people use to experience the supernatural/occult.
Christians should stay away from them.

Back in the 1800s, no one had an opinion on cannabis. Everyone did it, and there was nothing wrong with it. Even now, there are no health problems associated with CDC or THC aside from being a little impaired.
The reason why they call it the devils lettuce is likely due to posters popping up in the 1930s surrounding Reefer Madness, which was a movie that depicted cannabis as a sin, evil, something of the devil. But why? The reason is actually really simple, racism. Mexicans and other hispanics at the time were more likely to smoke cannabis than white people, so they passed legislation to make cannabis illegal so that they could have reasonable cause to arrest hispanics. The movie Reefer Madness was used as propaganda to instill a fear of cannabis into the American people.
Also, there is no evidence to support that weed is a gateway drug. In fact, it's been proven very unlikely that people would move on to harder drugs after trying cannabis.

Hi NYQueens, I saw that film, it was hillarious. Bless you.

Romans 12:1-3 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
1 Thessalonians 5:2-9 (KJV) For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Back in the 1800's far less people could read, and probably didn't have a Bible?

Everyone did it, and there was nothing wrong in it, you say, I would re-word it as, Most or many did it, they were not aware anything was wrong in doing it.

This can also be said for tobacco smokers, in the 1930, 40, 50's Everyone did it. Well not 'everyone' but many did so and they didn't know there was any wrong in doing it, they didn't know it would later cause major health issues for many. It was common in the films, in those days they knew no better, and including it in films helped to promote the habit.

I would argue that we understand weed even less than we used to, and that's because everything we know about weed is based off of what the government has told us, which is all lies. We were taught that weed is a gateway drug, that its dangerous, and should be outright banned, but now we are slowly coming to recognize the lies and come to the truth. Back in the day, people understood that it was harmless. Now, we believe that it's harmful because of the lies we were taught as children, such as "this is your brain on drugs".
Also, to say that people didn't have a bible in the 1800s is inexcusably inaccurate. People in the 1800s used the Bible, just like how many christians do now, to justify their actions (slavery) and used it as a strict moral guide (how to treat their slaves), but notice that no one said anything about weed, and that was because, for literally thousands of years, no one saw anything wrong with it, not even the people in religious circles.
It's also not a habit, at least not in the same way that smoking is. People rarely get addicted to weed, just like how people rarely get addicted to games, food, and whatever else you think of. Also, the thing with tobacco is that we later learned that it's extremely dangerous in the long run, which is why less people are now smoking tobacco. But there is no evidence that proves that weed is dangerous in the short or long run. On the contrary, we've discovered that weed has plenty of health benefits, even proving to be a help for fighting certain types of cancer, help with the healing of broken bones, slow the development of alzheimers, and with proper research, we could discover more. But if people remain afraid of cannabis for whatever their reason may be (religious, ignorance, both, etc), we'll never be able to grow.

Hi NYQueens, Sorry I have to disagree with you . I smoked dope for over forty years and found to my cost that dope, like tobacco, creates a great deal of tar and that tar is most definitely harmful to the lungs, I no longer smoke anything, but unfortunately the damage is done, and I suffer from COPD. But in saying that I've survived for seventy eight years and I'm hoping to reach eighty. Eating it, is another matter. Jesus drank wine and is noted for producing the very best. My father was a drinker and the effects on him put me off, so my form of relaxation was dope. Whether it is right or wrong, I wouldn't like to say, but I was smoking dope when Jesus found me and it didn't seem to influence the fact that he saved me. I no longer indulge because nowadays I enjoy being straight.

You are missing what I said, I didn't say people didn't have a Bible, what I said was...

Back in the 1800's far less people could read, and probably didn't have a Bible?

Some did have a Bible we know that, but far less than those today, and we have much more access to scripture. But how many actually read it or could read it? The Bible remains the best selling book, if we are to call it a book, but it is the least read. That is because so many think they are Christian, but how many are born again?

It's also not a habit, at least not in the same way that smoking is. People rarely get addicted to weed, just like how people rarely get addicted to games, food, and whatever else you think of. Again you miss the point of what I put, but maybe I didn't explain clearly enough in this case. I said...

This can also be said for tobacco smokers, in the 1930, 40, 50's. You use the term for weed as... Everyone did it. Well not 'everyone' but many did so and they didn't know there was any wrong in doing it, they didn't know it would later cause major health issues for many. It was common to smoke in the films in those days, they knew no better, and including it in films helped to promote the habit.

What I aimed to say was that in the 1930,40,50's many smoked tobacco, they saw no wrong in it, they did it because others did it and seeing people in films doing it further promoted the use of it. The example is aiming to show that in many things people do things because someone else does so, the world are like sheep.

Now back to weed, any form of drug has to be tested and licenced, regardless of whether testing has or has not been done it is illegal until made legal. If it is illegal and it is done then it is against the law, it is sin.

Now you're missing my point. I agree that it's bad for your health to smoke tobacco, and that's because we have studies and evidence to back that up. But we have no evidence to prove that weed is bad for your health. That is why I can't agree with comparing tobacco and weed.
"If it is illegal and it is done then it is against the law, it is sin." People in the 1800s used to say the same exact thing about slavery, which goes to show that just because something is legal or illegal, that doesn't mean that it should be. Slavery shouldn't have been legally and biblically enforced, but it was. That's wrong.
Cannabis was made illegal for the sole purpose of locking up minorities, and that's wrong as well and needs to be fixed.

But we have no evidence to prove that weed is bad for your health.

It doesn't cause cancer like cigaretes. there's tons of evidence (almost every single long term study)
that it kills brain cells, causes memory loss, slurred speech, and impairs motor sills after extended long term use.

Well B-A-C, I smoked dope for over fifty years and although my memory is not what it was, I am two years off eighty. Have you ever smoked dope? People say that dope is illegal but in many countries now it has been legalised . I am not advocating smoking, either tobacco or dope, both deposit tar into the lungs, but to lambast it when not having experienced it, well? and I am writing without slurred speech and my motor skills are pretty good thanks. bless you.
