Brothers and Sisters,
What do I do about smoking ciggarettes? I have been praying and I know it is wrong now. I am tearing down the temple that I am supposed to uphold. I really need help because right now I feel hopeless. I have been smoking since I was 14. I am 21 now. I cant breath and I know for sure that it is not glorifying God. What would you all say?
God Bless,
M

Hello Melinda

I have heard that the addiction to nicotine is very powerful. All that I would suggest is that you do not buy them. Simplistic that may seem, but it is the only way you are going to break free.

You need to open yourself up to enjoy what the Lord has for you. Which you will discover is far better than the cigs. I am praying for you as I type.

Get into a live church, where you will find Christian sisters who will help and support you.

God Bless You

Lots of prayer. "Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours," (Mark 11:24)
But that does not mean that you will be delivered from nicotine instantly. It will probably take time and diligent prayer from yourself and as many prayer partners as you can round up to intercede for you.

Praying for you, melinda.

:lightbulb One thing you might try:
Whenever the urge/craving starts ...
try delving into the Word instead of a box of cigarettes.

You should read Allen Carr's book "EasyWay" its a great help.

You guys are awesome.

You all have given me some hope. I think the deligent prayer and just not buying them is the way to go. God Bless!

This was good information for me also..l know better than to smoke.. I started in college in 93 I know that I can quit because I stop smoking instantly with all of my Pregnancies but I was the one that chose to pick them back up I have been praying to be delivered from them... I know HE will and I know That GOD is able.... Please Pray for me also...
GOD Bless
April

If you want to end your tpbacco habit, you have to let go of tobacco. Jesus probably isn't going to rip a pack of cigarettes out of your hand.

A few days back (15.aug) it came to me that smoking was a sin. Maybe I always knew but chose to ignore it dunno. Anyways. I decided to repent ask Gud for forgivenes and just stop. I asked God to clean me of my sins and all addiction.
Now it has been 3 days and I have hardly thought about cigarettes at all. All the addiction just went away. took me half a day before I remembered I had quit, I just didnt think about it all. Quite amazing. Jesus is Good :)
There is the odd craving now and then but I just look at it as temptation and move on.

Just wanted to share that.

Pleased to hear that Simon. We are praying for you. There is a great future ahead in Jesus.

I pray that you all become AtoJ instead of Addicted to nicotene &/or tobacco that you become Addicted to Jesus.

Speaking to all who fight against the addiction to tobacco

Why smoke.................when you can burn?? Amen Amen! Burn for God........Burn for the Master.

Let me burn out out for you dear Lord, Let me burn out for you, dont let me rust or my life be a failure O Lord to thee

MmMm O yes, lift up your head, Amen...... lift it up. God is for you........The future awaits you.....break away from the slavery Jesus is near

God Bless You, I am praying that in the days ahead we will hear testimony to victory over tobacco.
Why Smoke? When you can Burn. Amen? Burn for Jesus.

Well I a former smoker know the power of addiction. When I quite well it was AWESOME, I would wake up in the middle of the night just praying away... yes waking up because I was already praying!!! I felt God right there with me... I didnt have one symptom of withdraw.. My advice for you who are trying to quite dont try give it to God and let Him handle it!

Chinaski when I read yours well it made me smile made me think of my story..

God is soooo Awesome

A few days back it came to me that smoking was a sin.

chinaski, Its great you have given up smoking and that you give the glory to God, as we always should in all things, but I am a smoker, and even if I were`nt, I cant agree with this statement, because God never said smoking was a sin, in fact if you read Mark chapter 7 you will find Jesus saying it is not.

Mark 7::15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. [For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:]

Smoking can be I sin if you hold it in more importance than it should. Like no where in the bible does it say that watching the "Food network" is a sin...but when I hold it in higher regard than prayer or reading my bible it is.

I agree the act of smoking is not a sin neither is drinking...as long as you dont get drunk...

Not only does it harm the body, I think smoking is a sin and is used as a socially acceptable escape route. I realized this one day when I wanted to try smoking to relieve my stress and replace my struggle with lust. I wound up not doing that because it would just change my habit to something that more people would find acceptable and it would turn out to be a harder habit to break.
My good friend has a drug addiction problem and when he says he quit smoking pot, he is always smoking cigarettes... He's just replacing his addiction with a new, more common habit. Imagine if cigarettes were banned and nobody could smoke any... what habits would they go back to? How many of those habits would they want to talk about with someone at work, at school, at a restaurant... places where millions of people frequently share their habit. I think smoking is an addiction that stalls many people from dealing with their real addiction. If I were smoking cigarettes, that would be the case for me. It's unfortunate that nicotine addictions are so hard to break, and that they're only a stumbling block in front of the real problems at hand.

No, smoking does not "honor God with your body" and also if one is addicted to anything it's a sin. 1 Cor 6:12 says "everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not be mastered by anything." Being addicted to anything, including cigarettes, is being mastered by something. The rest of the stuff is something God showed me through experience to help other people... maybe he hasn't revealed that to everybody, so I said "i think" in order not to speak for everyone, but confessing what God showed me.
