Police arrest with force 71 year old preacher reading out of Bible

He is delivering the Gospel. I heard him proclaiming such. and the world will stop you.

This not the clip in question but another one who is proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This guy makes the same point as the preacher in the first clip but there's a big massive difference and that's in their respective messages. No. 1 misused the Bible as cover for his own anti-gay rant, No. 2 was preaching the good news of the gospel.

Street preachers with sandwich boards used to be common in UK town squares. I remember some used to cross paths with the law because they attracted crowds causing congestion. We still occasionally see street preachers but nowadays it's the exception rather than the rule. If you're going to cause congestion then you need to engage with your audience, phobic rants about certain categories of sin won't cut it, worse still, it'll alienate and turn people away from the gospel. For our enemy, that's a result!

One thing I do miss from years past are the massive outdoor outreach missions. I remember taking my mum to see Billy Graham in Blackpool and Stephen Alford in Manchester.

No. 1 misused the Bible as cover for his own anti-gay rant,
The first video posted of the arrest of the 71 year old contains no audio content about his alleged "rant" - we do not know what he was saying in context nor how he was delivering his message.
The video merely shows his forceful and inappropriate arrest by police in supposedly a free democratic society of the West: that historically has prided itself on political and religious freedoms for its citizens as compared to
the evil empire of state dictatorships like the Soviet Union, China, Iran, etc.
How odd that Russia is enjoying a Christian revival of immense proportions (both Orthodox and Pentecostal) and Christian values about marriage, family life and the value of children are being promulgated.

I'd like to look at this from a different angle. Firstly 'roughing up' a 70 odd year old guy like that is disgraceful and totally inexcusable, it rightly shocked the crowd and I do hope that the officers involved found themselves on the receiving end of disciplinary proceedings. There's really no excuse for that.

But rewind to prior to the police intervention. I want to ask what was motivating this man? Was he trying to further the kingdom of God, draw people into the love of God, rescue them from the clutches of Satan or maybe just convince any passing gays that they need to be straight? Maybe he was just making a point, but does that really glorify God? More likely, he's wanting to cause annoyance and division - food and water for our enemy Satan who thrives on that.

The verses he was quoting were written to and for churches and believers, not Joe Public. Joe needs to be told to repent from ALL sin, follow Jesus and receive a ticket to Heaven, the Holy Spirit, a relationship, love and care of the amazing creator God. Much better, more appropriate verses might be 2 Corinthians 5:17, Matthew 11:30, John 10:10, John 8:31-32, Romans 6:23, Colossians 1:13-14, Romans 8:1-2 and there are hundreds more.

We need to be more Christ like, His preaching was as He put it in Luke 4:18-19. Nowhere but nowhere in the Bible are we told to tell sinners to tone it down or try and be good. So why do we?

IMO that's why the Church in the West is in decline, we lack relevance.
you sound like a hillsong follower. We are not here to appease man, we are to call him into righteousness and the truth. Repent from your sins and evil desires, have a relationship with Jesus Christ, these are the words that must be spoken to these people, they either accept the call or they dont, the burden is upon them. But to encourage two men to try to get each other pregnant is an abomination to the Lord. To be a true follower of Christ takes self sacrifice, not appeasement.

Billy Graham?? No way, he was a false prophet . If there are large crowds surrounding a prophet, run in the other direction.

Seriously. I grieve at the lack of true followers of Christ, so damn frustrating.

I don't know how you found that one. I have been trying to tell christians, i been on this journey for over 44 years, Studying hard studying , and have notice, that many of books are either out of print, or cannot be found, or going at a rate of $1,000,00 or better to know the Truth how Lexicons, Encyclopedias have been, altered, concerning "Biblical Truths" and biblical words. I have alway mention the "copyrights" dates to chose. I have the right "books' In my Home library, concerning the "books" that Translators" use to write and translate, The earlier, KJV, ASV, RSV, NIV. The Lexicons Hebrew and Greek lexicons, The Englishman Concordances both Hebrew and Greeks. Older Copyright of Vines book on New Testament words. When i would try to strike a Discussions concerning these things, I have been attacked by Christians,
And when I have tried to tell the history of Christianity and how christians has destroyed thousand upon thousands of christians and their families homes. And they are Quick to bring up "internet versions which leaves out a lot and been shape to give half truths. I have been given the evil eye! Brutal torture of men women and children. It will make you cry! And done it all in the name of Jesus! Now it is hard to find historical books that has shone light int these matters. For even in the OLD Testament, You will find, how GOD was so angry with Israel how they had become so evil and destructive that their worst enemies, and he would punish them with the punish of a cruel one. He punish more than he ever bless them, The Prophets messages was the Messages of the Impending Doom for their treachery.

And many think this "Pentecostalism' is a 20th century movement. for many do not know that "Pentecostalism" is as old as dirt. As was shut down in the early 3 and 4 century if I can remember the rightful date but under a different name! By Orthodox Christians! Proven! I do know the Name of the movement. don't you! For many is not going to believe me.

One reason the True Atheists who Knows the Bible in and out! Claims christians are liars, how could they know their Bibles and Claims that the GOD of Abraham Isaac and Jacob is a GOD of LOVE. And The History of Christianity and what christians has done even unto their own. There was a Book, I think it was called "They Shoot their own" I think the author was "Bill or Bob Mumford"!

A christian better not stumble or fall, they will stump, you into ground. and many will out right Refuse to read "Foxes Books of Martyr's", and one must beware also of the "Copyrighted" Date! For many on here, has ask me a lot, "why you have pay attention to copyright dates" I thank God i stand not alone, in the unadulterated "proclamation" of The GOD's WORD.

You must know who your enemy is, before you can engage, in an effective warfare! And God has given us His WORD to do so, but many of christians have refuse to dance, within its pages. "And many have taken comfort and warm themselves by the enemy's Fire" :eyes:

Thank you
Gregoryp

Billy Graham is so Not any false prophet. He's been a great Evangelist. He's had opportunities that no one else has. He's never taught a false gospel.

watch the documentary first, then pray over it. As I did. A wolf in sheeps clothing.

Hi Gregory,

Please, please, drop the dogma and try to look at this from God's perspective.

Unlike us, God is fully aware of what happens to those poor unfortunates that reject Jesus's salvation. The Bible, written in English cannot adequately describe the horrors of that place. We're given a brief partial insight by Jesus -
In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ Luke 16:23-24. God absolutely loved each one of them, He sent His son to die for him and he/she just turned Jesus away: what a waste. So does God think, ha - you made your bed, lie in it! Not a bit, God grieves for each and every one of them. 2 Peter 3:9. God's love is unending, without width or length.

So please drop the rules and regulations, they are Old Testament. New Testament, we're given tips and hints on how to please and delight the God we adore and what to avoid to incur His displeasure and wrath, all of which is totally irrelevant if you don't know Him.

Please, give me an example of a New Testament sermon that starts and finishes with the crowd's sin. There are many in the Old Testament but none in the New. Why's that? The Old is about the Law, the New is about grace and God's love and invitation to us all. For a heart warming example look at John 4:4-42, the story of the woman at the well. This was a totally life changing encounter that started with an invitation. Had Jesus started the conversation by condemning her colourful love life, I think there'd have been a different outcome.

When you're preaching or witnessing to the unconverted, what's the desired outcome? All I'm saying is drop your prejudices and work towards that - there's so much at stake.

He never preached the true gospel that inspired the apostles and disciples of the first century.
Thank God that our Pentecostal church still does.

Paul speaking to the Greeks in Athens
Acts 17:30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
17:31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”
17:32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked. But others said, “We will hear you again about this.”
17:33 So Paul went out from their midst.

Romans 1:24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonouring of their bodies among themselves,
1:25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
1:26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;
1:27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
1:28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
1:29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
1:30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
1:31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
1:32 Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Jude 1:4 For certain men have crept in privily, who were of old written of beforehand unto this condemnation, ungodly, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Master and our Lord, Jesus Christ.
1:5 Now I desire to remind you, though ye know all things once for all, that the Lord, having saved a people out of Egypt land, the second time destroyed them that believed not.
1:6 And angels that kept not their own principality, but left their proper habitation, he hath kept in everlasting bonds under darkness unto judgment of the great day.
1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them, having in like manner with these given themselves to fornication and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example of eternal fire, suffering punishment.

Rev 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Ō, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
22:14 Blessed they that wash their robes, that theirs shall be the authority over the tree of life, and they may enter by the gates into the city.
22:15 Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.
22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to witness to you these things over the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright, the morning star.

17:33 So Paul went out from their midst.

Paul's sermon starts at Acts 17:22 with a word of encouragement and then deftly turned it around to the unknown God and went on to introduce them to that unknown God. This was far from a sermon solely dedicated to the crowd's sin. Yes sin was a good chunk of it but not exclusive, the bulk was the greatness of God. This was one of Paul's early sermons, and maybe not as hard hitting as his later testimonies as can be seen by the response. Acts 17:32-34.

You seem to have missed the whole thrust of my post. We're talking about souls here, not dogma, theology or even proving a pont. I'm talking about the love of God that extends to everybody. Jesus's great commission is not a box ticking exercise, we're to fulfil it to the best of our ability aided by the Holy Spirit.

Yes. Also, the sermons that do have strong rebukes and highlight sinfulness from John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter and Paul are generally to audiences of Jews -- those who have already had the revelation of God and are being called to obedience to their faith.

As the gospel is preached to a non-Jewish, Greek crowd the tone changes significantly.

I'd suggest that passers-by in Uxbridge London would have more in common with pagan Greeks than with Jews of New Testament times.

Surely it would be better to take the opportunity to proclaim Jesus Christ, crucified, risen and Lord of all - rather than stir up the general public with a debate about sexuality.

Greetings Andy

May I ask, which one preached like John the Baptist?

If you think the first one, does that make John the Baptist's approach wrong.

I understand what you are saying, I then ask myself WWJD, WWJS?

There are many examples of how Jesus preached, that was bold and to the point.

Was Jesus wrong also?

How many times did Jesus say,
'you wicked and adulterous generation.

What would he say today,
'you wicked and LGBTQ generation.'
Or
'you wicked and sodomite generation.'

As the days of Noah were.....

Shalom

The question was addressed to Andy and he may answer differently to me...

Jesus called the people of his day 'adulterous' because they had a sacred covenant with God embodied in the Torah and Temple worship. They were proud of their status as sons of Abraham, yet were rebellious against God.

There's a long, long prophetic tradition of using adultery as a metaphor for breaking the covenant. See Hosea for the most stark example.

People in post-Christian West London by and large have not entered into a sacred covenant with God. They may be distant, lost, but they are not adulterous.
