Racist fish names change. No, this is not Babylon Bee satire

He has eyes listen, you can see those who can see the truth and those who have been decieved. It is right before your very eyes. These people are still in the world and listening to strangers tell them what to think and how to behave.
Yes, I know. That also is a very good alternative synopsis of my prior post that you replied to.

When the absurd phrase, politically correct, entered our nomenclature and remains active in America, that was the beginning of what is happening today.

"Political correctness is Fascism pretending to be manners." George Carlin

Sure. But it's possible to have good manners without fascism.

In the UK, fish marketers discovered that most people associated pilchards with poverty and cat food. Understandably sales were low, so they put their heads together and renamed them "Cornish Sardine". They are now becoming quite popular again.

If we can make a name change for the sake of financial profit, why not for other reasons?

Deceptiveness for the sake of feeding the love of money? You promote this as okay?

I wouldn't consider it deception, just renamed. Similarly fish and chip shops had a tough time shifting "dog fish in batter" so they are generally sold as "huss" or "smoothound". It's a small shark species.

Anyone who doesn't care for the flavour would try it only once.

Cornish sardine is excellent fried or barbequed. Huss, not to my taste.

Are you're likening me to the serpent in the garden of Eden? Please clarify.

Manners by law? Manners predated PCF.

And I agree changing the name of something so to pander to hypersensitive intolerant people is a slippery slope we've already entered upon.

Where will it stop?

How about this, a law that puts a warning sticker on every newly published Bible?
In a legaleze that forewarned the public its contents are classified as hate speech. And promote bigotry, homophobia, misogyny, etc...

And since SPLC has already and years ago implied as much by targeting Bible faithful Christian groups as hate groups.
How about a move to change the group name of Christians?

Because for centuries Christians in their zeal for holding to God's word have proven ourselves to be intolerant misogynistic homophobic bigots.

Now let's look to your observation. Concession for the sake of money.

Mega-church millionaire pastors agree!
Because with a "re-branding" of the Christian faithful as a whole, more people may be open to the message. Because our new name lends the impression ours is a kinder more tolerant God.

How about that.

And instead of calling the profit prophet of our newly labeled faith divine or even God in flesh, let's change that too. Because calling Jesus God devalues and marginalizes what other religions hold as their god. And that's selfish and ego centric got one group of people to claim their God is the only true one.

Let's go a little further.

Churches tax exempt status is in peril because the IRS agrees.

Monotheistic Christianity qualifies as a hate group due to those aforementioned issues the PCF public contend against.

As such, 501(c)3 status will be revoked unless "policy changes" are implemented.

First amendment rights aren't being abridged in this case because just as a Satanic church cannot invoke the amendment and get away with animal and child sacrifice as a protected religious rite, nor can Christian churches ostracize the general public through the pronouncement of policies that discriminate against said public.

Impossible overreach?

Remember, the Federal office of copyright and trademarks revoked the trademark of the Washington Redskins football organization because they determined the name "redskin" was racist.

So, how about it? Concession in the spirit of prophet profit.

Gently, there's no law being proposed regarding the Asian carp. You're legally free to call them anything you like.

It's not the thin end of a wedge that ends in the church being outlawed as a hate group, just the fish and wildlife service doing their best to be respectful to Asians.

And of course when we log in here we're reminded of this.

You don't get it. I understand that.

Calling a fish by its origin point, Asia=Asian, is not racism. Changing its name that originated because its point of origin is relevant to its Toxoconomy, is misleading when classifying the fish according to its point of origin when the Asian Carp has been determined to be an invasive species.

People that genuinely think changing a fish name is respectful to Asians miss the point of that undertaking. When in actuality the implication is to say there's something wrong with a genus originating in Asia. Being Asian.
Because on the world map there's a topographical area labeled, Asia.

A fish that is from Asia is merely an Asian fish.

There is no implication against humans as a correlary to that Carp. Unless someone wants to imply Asian people can swim really well and far in order to reach America too.

Here's something many may have forgotten.

Words aren't racist. Intentions are.

Nobody behind the name change has said that calling the fish "Asian" is racist.

My apologies for the many posts I've made in responding to your remarks here .

Till now I did not know you had not read the linked article in the OP.
Again, my apologies.

So, I was correct. You didn't read the article in the OP.
Instead you proceeded through intellectual dishonesty , without informing the thread participants till now that you argued allegedly from information gleaned from a Left-Center Biased left-leaning editorializing, reporting association .

Even certain of your own comments sustain the reason for this name change are fears of racism, racist, implications.

And that's obvious by the fact Asian Carp have carried that name for years. Until now when the claim of Asian hate crimes is cause for the name change undertaking now.

It's Liberal fodder of course but with the rise of the Cancel Culture, par for the coarse.

Thanks anyway.

Copy the article and I'll take a look at it. Associated Press doesn't make any value judgements in the report I posted.

I can imagine, a few of us sitting around the "Coronation Table" and the others having a conversation down here about "ASIAN Carp":eyes:

Ok
Switched on VPN, private browsing and managed to access the link in the OP. It's the exact same article from the Associated Press.

And no-one in the piece says that Asian carp is racist.
