Rejecting God Because of Hell Is Illogical

I have several problems with your post, but ill start off with just one.

Can i ask you, if a Mormon comes up and tells you that if you read the Book of mormon with a sincere heart and an open mind and a willingness to believe, that he will gauruntee that you will convert to mormonism, and after reading the book of mormon with what you believed was a sincere heart, open mind, and a willingness to believe, you didnt convert or werent convinced, what would your thoughts be on both the challenge/argument, and your position on Mormonism?

You may attempt to make a problem out of my post, but I assure you there's nothing wrong with it. I've met quite a few Mormon's, actually. A old friend of mine had a Dad who was a deacon in the Mormon church. However, the things Joseph Smith claims are not consistent with the message we get from the Bible. And since he claims to have been inspired by it, that just doesn't make sense. Did you know that the elders of the Mormon church appoint a new "prophet" every year? It's kinda like how the Roman Catholic church picks a pope. But, men consenting their vote to establish such a thing will never be the truth.

The difference between what I suggested to you and what you're attempting as a comparison is that the contents of the Holy Bible are actually true. It won't work the same way if you try to believe something else. But, no one is forcing you to believe. I told you how you can find the truth, but evidently you don't really want to know and aren't willing to try. It's no skin off my back. It's really not my problem. But if you're not willing to believe the truth then you can never find out.

God already knows He is faithful, so it's really not something He has to prove. But if it's something you want to understand experientially then you have to enter into the terms God has established and provided for us knowing it. If that's not what you want then believe which ever lie you choose. Like I said, it doesn't bother me any. I'm still going to know the truth that God told me and which will never change. Have you considered that maybe God has not called you or chosen you? Maybe He doesn't see you fit for service toward Him? Maybe in His providence He never meant for you to enter heaven and has consigned to you a void and vain life of wasteful searching which will never produce the glory of His truth?

Again, i said that i had read the entire bible from cover to cover.

And although I appreciate that youve typed this out, most of what you wrote, I had already been aware of. The only thing I wasnt aware of was the Adom reference to the colour red, but if i remember correctly, red clay soil is pretty hard to work with because of its lack of nutrients, and the greyer/darker equivalent soils are pretty fertile so i think you have it backwards.

as far as what I said about you not reading much of the bible I must have gotten someone elses comment in there and I think i was typing that when you had posted in a reply to me in another post. Sorry for any confusion. But now as far as what i said about red/grey clay I am most certianly not confused on or do I have it backwards. I have many many many years experience in agriculture, lawn/landscaping, nursery work, gardening, planting fruit trees and on and on. Actually most of my life and I aint a spring chicken. If you would like to verify my comment on grey clay is grey due to lack of oxygen a good website to start is the aggie website for texas. All clay is less nutrient rich than topsoil as a general rule. The next step for me to increase my knowledge in plants/soil would be to become a master gardener, which i dont want to do really because I dont see how it helps me in life to know things like the althea trees scientific name is hybiscus syricus.

Well, actually I did try, kneel and pray to God to reveal himself to me, when i was still a christian/reading the bible and learning. Which is why I asked you that question, to which you havent responded to.

I suppose your response would be that I wasnt sincere enough, or that I wasnt opening my heart, etc etc, but thats why I asked you that question, because I dont know how I could possibly have been more sincere or open-minded/with an open heart as I couldve when I prayed to God and asked him whether I was on the right path, whether I had chosen the right religion, etc etc etc.

So, yes, I did want to know(I still do), and I did try. Multiple times.

And this is kind of the point of the question I asked you. Your method of confirmation that God exists and/or a religion is true, seems to apply to all religions, both in the method and success. I know for a fact that there are people who prayed and read the book of mormon and became Mormons because God revealed the truth for them. To an objective observer who is neither a Mormon or a Christian, how could they differentiate between these?

Okay, it might have been my misunderstanding/remembering things wrongly, and im fine with what you said.

Here is the problem, you are suggesting he is not interested in the truth because he will not put his faith in something he doesn't believe in - a thing which he sees no evidence for. Believing in something you do not believe is true because someone told you to and that you would find the truth that way does not seem like a sensible argument. The fact that you believe the bible to be true is no way changes the logic of the argument.

He is saying your argument can be made for many different religions. The same logical applies. Why should he believe you simply because you claim it be to be true?
