If we were talking about some mortal commander I might agree.
However, I have enough of a military background to know that even in mortal wars there's a thing called "need to know" and most of the time you get "go up this hill and do this thing" not "because the enemy is doing this, we are doing to go up this hill...."

But we're not talking about mortal commanders.
Do you REALLY accuse the Lord God of withholding necessary information?
Does He really keep the things you need from you?

God needed men ready to preach His Word to the corners of the world and some 3000 were Saved as men received the Holy Spirit as tongues of flame all at once - any langauge they needed to get the job done was given to each of them.

If you're really finding youself stuck without the resources to do God's work, you're either not in your Calling or following the wrong caller because God does NOT leave people hanging like that.

We have to keep as up-to-date as possible on what Satan is doing because he is a cunning deceiver.

He's...deceiving...people...mostly by making that which is evil seem "ok". What exactly are we not up-to-date on about that?

Also, you commented, I believe, that you didn't see knowledge of Satan's tactics on the "Full Armor of God" listed in Ephesians 6. Technically, you are correct. It isn't mentioned specifically. However, you mentioned verse 18 of that chapter: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. " Its not a stretch then, in my opinion, to see such requests including seeking help in keeping track of the devil's antics.

I'm never gonna see how knowing the exact color and smell of Satan's dirty laundry is really help you or anyone else get closer to God.

You don't *need* to pray for what you need to fight Satan.
Assuming you are Saved, you already *have* it.

We are the House of the Holy Spirit.
He dwells within us.

He doesn't "come upon us" as in the days of the old covenant when people had to be prayed over and purified and anointed before the Spirit would briefly touch upon them (though the gifts we manifest for His purposes change as He requires).

Christ's work for us has allowed the Spirit to dwell IN us:

He LIVES within us - every day, all the time.
Given that, just what else do you think you need?!?

Let me sum up Satan's "antics" for ya:

He's raping, murdering, lying, stealing, fornicating, getting wasted, coveting, committing adultery, breaking oaths, dishonoring his elders, disrespecting just authority, rebelling, instigating, corrupting, worshipping idols, trying to defile the Sabbath, and trying to get everyone to turn away from God/Christ. I may have missed one or two in that list but he's busy so it's hard to keep up.

In fact you could spend your whole life studying his ... antics ... and never catch up to the evil he's done so far. Man what a waste of time.

I deliberately left off the chapter and verse references. The best thing you could *possibly* do in your life right now is take the time to find them.

They are children of the Lord - chosen as He chose all of us - locked in deception and held in bondage!

They are lost and suffering and alone. We've *ALL* been lost, suffering, or alone at least once in our lives. We all know how it hurts and we all know how desperate we can be (and sometimes how stupid) just to get away from that pain.

You have all the ground with *them* you need.

But you aren't finding common ground with them - you're finding common ground with the enemy who deceives them!

Once common ground is met, you can gradually bring the Word of God into the topic, once their guard is down..

I worry that you're bringing people to a knowledge of the idenity of Christ..but not to the Cross. If God means you to speak to these people, you should be able to do so without all of this hoop jumping you're currently undergoing. What guard of man or the devil stands before the glory of God?

When I fail to reach someone, my prayers ask that God qualify me or send another if I have assumed a calling that is not mine. I *have* on occasion been replaced. But I don't ask Him to give me better understanding of the enemy -- I ask for better understanding of Him...that I may be a better apostle and a better Christian.

Coconut you were not called by God to preach to Satanist, but 'others were'.

We are *all* called to preach to all the world and every creature. Some of us take up the role, some don't. The confusion comes because mankind decided to inseparably mix the offices of the Church with the commission for spreading of the Good News....a folly that will cost some their souls before the end.

Atonements last post was May 22, and here we are June 6th, he has apologized for going off based.

When we keep going back in the past it steals the message from the original post. Now we make it personal by attacking his ministry. We don't know him personally, so what... he opened one part of his life to us, must we condemn him for his beliefs and where he believes God has called him. Making a mockery of someone's beliefs when they are on our side. He's not asking us to study the devil and what he likes to read in the sunday's news paper.

We all agreed and he apologized that posting that conversation with a satanist was off..my question...

Why are we here ?
What are we trying to gain from all of this..I mean every conversation must end with a lesson learn or edify others that read this.

I have not been edified in anyway from this discussion.

Because that information has no value to us, or the people we witness to, apparently.

No one is saying we need to invite the devil for tea and take notes of everything he says.

How do we know Islam is not the way of life, or Jehovah Witnesses have errors ?

Well someone in the past had to study it, line it up with the bible to find these errors. The worse thing we can do is tell someone they're following the wrong path, and not be able to explain to them why.

We know Satanism ( cult ) is completely off, not just because it has the word satan in it but because we have tested the belief system and know it's 100% not of God.

I was honestly hoping this entire dialog after his apology, would have been a study directed towards " if Christians should obtain knowledge of the occult".

I believe there is a balance, that knowledge can be beneficial ( I don't think Chad would post threads on Islam or new age to build his post count or just for fun ).

Don't get me wrong I agree with everyone's points, I'm just closing it because I'm scared that Pride would show its face.

In closing,

I agree we don't need to study the occult to know its wrong, but just like we don't need to sniff cocaine to tell others it's wrong,... acquiring knowledge about cocaine and its addiction can/would help.

All situations are different and yes the Holy Spirit lives in us and will direct us. But knowledge should never be kicked out the door.

I think one of the things all of us at TJ need to think seriously about is how thoroughly we think through what we say before we click "post". It is so easy to get caught up emotionally in responding to a message - especially when someone questions what we've said.

I try to be slow in posting messages because a) I don't want to accidentally hurt another member and, b) I understand that good grammar and sentence structure, as well as thorough proofreading, are essential to conveying my message accurately and lovingly.

I do have an ulterior motive in all of this - I want to keep my foot out of my mouth.
