Can you love your enemies and kill them simultaneously?

When I read this I was appalled that anyone could be so ignorant of the scriptures. I served twenty years in the military (1974-1994 active duty USAF) and the military is a God given entity ordained by God. Its men and women have served this nation well! I know hundreds of men and women who are spirit filled born again Christians who have and are serving in the Military.

God word does say Thou shall not kill. But further research it really states, thou shall not shed innocent blood. Fighting in the military for your nation and family is a demand God places on the nations he has given its leaders stewardship over. I tell you right now. If anyone tried to physically harm my wife or family, I would shoot them dead! No evil man or women is going to destroy what God has given me stewardship over.

If what you believe is true, then we need to rip the entire bible apart which would mean Caleb, Joshua, David, Samson, Abraham were all out of the will of God. Hebrews chapter 11 blows your theory out of the water. Look at verses 30-33 of Chapter 11. By faith these men subdued nations. If you will do a study, they all were military men ordained by God. Romans chapter 13: verses 3-4 state that those in authority do not wear the sword for nothing. They are Gods ministers to execute wrath on those who do evil. 1 Chronicles 12: 23-40 list Davids Army at Hebron and he was a man after Gods own heart.

Sir, if you are going to make statements about military men, you better know your history, your bible and the heart of God! Men of valor have turned back the tide of evil in this world. WWI, WWII, the American Revolution, and the list goes on and on. Iraq's dictator killed thousands of innocent people and the USA was used to stop his senseless killings.

If what you say is true, then Jesus violated his own word. He made a whip and drove men out of the temple. Do you not think they were hurt when the whip was applied to them???

If this sounds angry, it is! Please, read the bible, then state your case in light of Gods word, not some nonsense!

There are too many voices in this world attempting to feed true righteousness to the swine...Rom 1:18-32 shows us a God the people reject as too 'Just'...(unless evil crosses the threshold of their own front door) ...a god of all 'mercy and grace' allows them to keep living in their sin.......so the Preacher who is only looking out for his own reputation, bows to the peoples demand for a non- offensive, politically correct, harmless cupid god, and gives them what they want...

Rom 1:18 God's wrath is being revealed from heaven against all the ungodliness and wickedness of those who in their wickedness suppress the truth [about God]

I found your message refreshing to read Trucker.

AMEN!!!!! Wow! I couldn't have said this better myself! As a Romanian transplant who lived for 24 years in a communist society, I can only say that sometimes people who were born here don't realize what they have!

If the US military didn't exist we couldn't live the way we do! Those men and women place themselves in harms way every day so that America stays the way it is. Oh and let's not forget that God is not against military defense of one's country. Shall we remember what He told Joshua(I think it was Joshua...:embarasse)? Paraphrasing, of course, He basically told him to kill ALL of the enemy, including their livestock...

9/11 was something that shook this nation at it's core. Something that no one believed could happen, yet it did! Those who did it are not only America's enemies but the enemies of God Himself! Would anyone have any problem pulling the trigger? I know I wouldn't!

I cherish, appreciate and am grateful for the men and women in uniform who defend this country from the likes of those who would kill us all in our sleep with no hesitation and mock the God we serve and love!

God bless each and everyone of them(The military I mean...)!

Good thread~I was in the marine corps a lot of years ago, but then met Christ and was discipled among the mennonites who teach a nonresistance to violence...some of it still sticks with me to this day but do struggle over many aspects of it. It became a problem when I became a husband and father, my marine corps instincts kicked in...though to this day sometimes I'm not sure if I'm trusting God or my weapons when it comes to my family.
