What if you die tonight?

Oh really. Then what about Ephesians 2:8 and 9.
For by grace you are saved through faith and that not of yourself it is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast. "

What about it? Are you trying to defend the calvinist doctrine that you are only saved by faith and nothing else? That's easy to despel, especially when we correctly translate Eph. 2:8-9 according to the Greek and its grammar:

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 because in accepting Christ you have been saved from sin through faith, and that was not of your own doing, that salvation is the gift of God.
9 No one receives salvation from his sin through obedience, so that no one may boast on any grounds.

As you might be able to see, you are NOT saved "by faith" but "through faith." There is no word in the Greek text there that means "by" only "through." That is because faith is only the first prerequisite according to Scripture that a person must do in order to come to God on His terms. You say that you are not a calvinist, yet this is now the second false doctrine of calvinism that you are espousing...things are not looking good for you.

Blessings.

Some people Sue, thinks God is dumb and stupid by some of the things they say. So puff up in pride like GOD needs a corrupted human being to carry out HIS Salvation to His chosen people. God ain’t no fool to trust anybody and depend on nobody to save HIS.
Your Salvation is a gift so is grace and faith.
If we depended on reading and Shaolin we all would be going to Hell. And yes Some may considered me an “Augustinian” now what! “Shaolin Temple”

PB are you STILL at it? thought you learned your uneducated lesson.

Nowhere in Scripture do we find that grace or faith is a gift from God, you are spreading more of your calvinist nonsense here, trying to destroy people's faith, like Alexander and Hymeaneaus did.

Grace is not a gift from God unless it is saving grace, because that only comes from the New Covenant in Christ. Faith is not a gift of God unless it is the supernatural faith that is a gift of the Spirit that Paul lists in I Cor. 12...but only those who are already saved can receive that gift.

So, yet once again, you are arguing against Scripture, not me...and when you do that you will lose every time. Scripture will always be correct, and false doctrines will always be wrong.

If we depended on reading and Shaolin we all would be going to Hell.

Proof positive right there that you don't have any idea about what you are talking about. You basically say that if you depend upon reading the Scriptures then you will go to hell...in your mind and can agree on that. And as I stated to you before, I can demonstrate everything that I say with Scripture, and that untwisted. So far, you have given very little evidence for anything that comes out of your mouth.

Shaolin, that is so ambiguous it boarders on Sabellianism.

... just sayin'

(Remember Lori's meat robot ?? .... rhetorical of course...)

It would be ambiguous if I said "God in the flesh," but I clearly gave the only true God as designated by His one true personal proper name according to Scripture as He chose to reveal it.

He has said so quite often, so we should let his yes be yes, since he is the only person on the planet with the truth.

Rhema

Ah...I hadn't seen that before...and again, that does make a LOT of sense seeing the nonsense that he comes up with...

Sue, hi. (Me again....)

I'd ask you to look closely at what @Shaolin actually wrote:

And yet compare with your scripture, noted above.

Salvation through faith? OR By grace you are saved?

Is one saved by faith? Or is one saved by Grace? (They are different.) And yet, this verse is one of the more interesting mis-translations that was done on purpose. Martin Luther, and the Protestants after him, purposefully omit a word from the Greek text. Let's read:

(Ephesians 2:8 TR) τη γαρ (FOR) χαριτι (BY GRACE) εστε (YE ARE) σεσωσμενοι (having been SAVED) δια (BY MEANS OF) της (THE) πιστεως (FAITH) και (AND) τουτο (THIS) ουκ (NOT) εξ (OF) υμων (YOU) θεου (OF GOD) το (THE) δωρον (GIFT).

For by grace are ye (having been) saved through THE faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

One is not saved through an individual's "faith" ... as the text clearly reads that one is saved through THE FAITH.

There is a significant difference here, as well, THE FAITH being the summation of principles and practices as taught by a Faith).

One is saved by the Grace of God, through the Faith that one has in Jesus and His Teachings - God, being gracious to forgive our sins in accordance with what Jesus taught - (not Moses or the Law, or the Temple Priests, or the Pharisees...) and this is what Jesus taught:

After this manner therefore PRAY (a command): Our Father which art in heaven, ... forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

Through Jesus, and not through any other Faith. Not the Faith preached by the Jew, Not the Faith preached by the Catholic, Not the Faith preached by the Baptist, but by the Faith that Jesus taught.

While I agree with the assessment you have made according to the Greek grammar in verse 8, I do not find the article before pistis in any of my Greek works. What are you using that says there is an article there?

Also, pistis is in the Genitive here, it is not being used in an objective manner, in which case it doesn't mean the articles of faith but rather belief. Does your source read it grammarily as written objectively?

Keep talking you are doing a good job of slaying thyself.
Like a old saying “Give them enough rope”

We'd been married for 46 yrs.

There wasn't a hint of feminism involved. I didn't really spend money and my husband grew up very poor. After a while we had separate checkbooks. I didn't work outside the home.

He was a Dave Ramsey person.

We built our own home a little at a time. That was 30-some years ago.

Three marriages-- wow. That's a lot of emotional stuff to go through.
Being rejected three times is a lot of luggage to carry.

I know exactly what you mean PB...you have actually given yourself enough rope to hang yourself four or five times over, and that's just recently...

I don't know how you guy's are with that, but I fear death greatly. Not death more precisely, but the after"life". Do you think is a chance for me? One year ago I didn't fear death ... i was a Christian on my path. Do you think is a chance for me for making a pact with the devil after becoming christian? I don't know what to do.. I did a pact because I pittied the fallen angels and I said you are allowed to to with me anything for I'll show my love for you. I wanted to demonstrate that I'm able to persue them that they do not need to fo all this stuff, and they can do with me anything, I won't say a thing. Then after a time they showed me their "real faces". You know, things got bad. I found myself bound under their power, (with my accord->)without my values far from God. And I don't know what to do, the Holy Spirit does not help me recently trough Christians. What do you people say? Does the Holy Spirit tell anything about me to you?

I would apreciate any help because a lot of believers kept ignoring me(apart from one) online when I asked what the Holy Spirit says about me(if He says anything at all, I would like to hear INSTANTLY, right away). Thank you.

It sounds like you have come out of satanism to one extent or another. But even a person coming out of satanism can get saved...but you say that you think you were saved before you turned to satanism? If so, that would be blasphemy of the Spirit... but not knowing you personally, and not being able to see and speak to you personally, I cannot really judge what is real in your case or not.

The best thing that you can do, is to go back to the beginning and see if you are still acceptable to God. Do you believe in Him? If yes, then you have faith. Are you willing to renounce all of your past sinful behaviors? If yes, then tell Him that you do, if you do choose to. If you want to enter into a personal relationship with God, then find someone who will baptize you in water. Once you do these three things, if you have not blasphemed the Spirit then God will take you back and I do believe that He will let you know.

Either way, you should know something of what's going on.

Blessings!

Talk to God about all of it. Confess what needs confessing. Ask for forgives. Have you been reading your Bible. That would be a good thing to do. Maybe the book of Psalms.

Dear Member Neyra,
First there are a few questions to ask you, but will start at the beginning.

You say a year ago that you were a Christian.
Question: What made you originally a Christian? In other words, can you please explain what it was exactly that made you one?

I won't go further into the rest of what you have written without knowing the above question.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
Nick

I would offer there are two kinds of fear .In the Palms David replied if God would take into account even one sin that violates his mercy who could stand before him and receive grace . We fear him because with him there is forgiveness.

Death is fearful without a living hope that comes from hearing God . If Christ our confidence has begun the good teaching work he will finish it till the last day .

Philippians 1:5-6 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

The next chapter expands that underderstanding those that work yoked with the Holy Spirt that dwells in them can perform his will with delight like that of Jesus others murmur. The accuser of the brethren ( Christians) the accused by Satan daily accuses them falsely day and night (24hours) Be strong in the lord our confidence and the power of his strength put that armor of God that defends us.

Philippians 2:13-14 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

In that way. .

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Oh, we have, Sue. Here and elsewhere. By the way, you're welcome.

I do not find the article before pistis in any of my Greek works. What are you using that says there is an article there?
Ahh... and that would be Textus Receptus, although it's not in the Westcott Hort. You don't have a copy of the Textus Receptus?

Also, pistis is in the Genitive here, it is not being used in an objective manner,
Objective Genitive:
The genitive substantive functions
semantically as the direct object of the
verbal idea implicit in the head noun.

Saved "DIA" (by means of) ... (by means of what?) ... the Faith. Pistis is certainly not a possessive.

PS: We once talked about the BDAG. I'd wholeheartedly recommend the new Cambridge.
