What Is HELL ?

As I said, the idea of rternal torment in fire is a pagan concept and not a Biblical one.

Firstly, this passage speaks of 3 individuals, not all of mankind. Secondly, the phrase is wrongly translated. The proper translation is ages of ages, not forever and ever. Forever and ever doesn't even makes sense. What is more than forever? You can't have anythime beyond forever. So. What then is the "ever?" It makes no sense. That's because it's wrongly translated. Jesus, Paul, and the other apostles all spoke of the end of the "aion". If the aion ends, how can it be forever? It can't be. So we have a choice, either we take Jesus and the apostles words or the words of modern day translators.

The forever and ever translation is based on Platonic Dualism. The idea that man is more than just a man. That also is not Biblical

The claim that eternal torment in fire is a pagan concept rather than a biblical one invites a closer look at the Scriptures and the historical context. It's true that the phrase "forever and ever" in passages like Revelation 20:10 can be translated from the Greek "aionas ton aionon," which literally means "ages of ages." Critics argue that this translation could imply a finite period rather than infinite duration. However, traditional Christian interpretation, supported by many scholars, understands these terms to describe an eternal state of punishment, emphasizing the severity and permanence of the final judgment. Jesus frequently warned about Gehenna, describing it as a place of unquenchable fire (Mark 9:43-48), and the imagery of the undying worm and eternal fire suggests more than a temporary state.

Moreover, Jesus and the apostles spoke of the end of the "aion" or age, which some interpret to mean the conclusion of a specific period of time. This interpretation challenges the traditional view, proposing that the punishment described is not infinite. However, the broader biblical narrative, including parables and teachings of Jesus, consistently emphasizes the gravity and eternal consequence of rejecting God.

The second death is eternal. However, the torment isn't. It's not called the second death because they're alive. They're dead.

The traditional view doesn't carry any weight, because traditional views have changed all through Christian history. I would be very careful taking the opinions of Scholars over the words of Jesus and the apostles.

The word aion cannot mean both eternal and a limited time. That's contradictory. Translators are the ones who claim it means eternal, not Scripture.

Not only does the does the word aion preclude eternal torment. The prophet Jeremiah does also. He prophesied of a time when Gehenna, or the Lake of Fire, would one day be made Holy to the Lord. Jeremiah 31

Also, Jesus spoke often of Gehenna, however, if we look at the passage He quoted from Isaiah 66 we find that what is burning in the fire of Gehenna is corpses. It's not living people, it's not ghosts, it's not spirits, it's dead bodies.

As I said, this doctrine stems from the fact that people hold a Platonic Dualist view of man rather than a Biblical one.

Yeah, the second death. Not eternal torment. Death means to die, not to live.
The "second death" is understood as the final and eternal separation from God, as revealed in the Scriptures. The term "second death" is found in the book of Revelation. Revelation 20:14-15 (KJV) states, "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." This passage clearly indicates that the second death is not merely physical death but a far more significant and eternal consequence.

The first death refers to physical death, the separation of the soul from the body as a result of sin, as seen in Hebrews 9:27 (KJV): "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." The second death, however, is spiritual and eternal. It is the ultimate consequence of sin for those who reject the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. It represents an eternal state of punishment and separation from the presence of God, described vividly in:

Revelation 21:8 (KJV): "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (These words are in Red in the Bible please don't call Jesus a liar.)

This second death is the final judgment where those who have not been born again, as Jesus described in John 3:3-5 (KJV), will face eternal damnation. The importance of the new birth experience—Water and Spirit—is emphasized as the means to avoid this second death. John 5:28-29 (KJV) also supports this belief: "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation."

Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully man, holds the keys to death and hell (Revelation 1:18 KJV). Thus, only through a relationship with Him and adherence to His gospel can one escape the second death. This belief system emphasizes the seriousness of eternal judgment and the necessity of living a holy and righteous life according to the teachings of the New Testament.

Revelation 21:8 "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Matthew 25:46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Matthew 13:47-50 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away. So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
Mark 9:43 "If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out."

Jesus spoke more on Hell than anyone and it is most certainly NOT just "darkness and being without God and knowing He exists."

No ot doesn't. It says they'll cast into the Lake of Fire which is the Second Death. They'll die. It says nothing more than that

There is no such thing as spiritual death. The second death is just like the first one, physical. If it was different it wouldn't be the second one. They experience a second death because all will be resurrected. So. The wicked dead will be raised. They will die again because they are not given eternal life. Thus they die a second time.

Of course being dead a second time they are separated from God and everything else. That's a consequence of being dead.
Revelation 21:8 (KJV): "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Not at all. It's just like He said, they will suffer the second death.

Jesus is fully man. It's not possible to be fully 2 different things. John said, the Word became flesh.

Nothing here suggests eternal torment.

Let me ask you a question. Where in Scripture does God promise eternal life to the unbeliever and wicked?

Jesus also said this in ALL the following verses:

Matthew 25:45-46, "Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."

Can't be punished if you are not consciously aware of it?!

Mark 9:43-48, "And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

Luke 16:23-24, "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame."

See post 42. Actually, Jesus never mentioned hell. English didn't exist then.

maybe it's a temporary dark spiritual world, created according to everything you know and what you've seen, where it's supposed to be the worst for you, maybe it's due to the purification of the soul, if you've done bad things in past lives

As I said, aion doesn't mean everlasting.

The fire that can't be quenched means it can't be put. To quench a fire is to extinguish it.

The parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man is about judgment that was coming to Israel. Note the parable is directed at the Pharisses.

To insert a comment. Isn't hell meant for only the false prophet, and thr beast and the devil as of Revelation 19: 10. Hell is described as a lake of fire and brimstone. That will last for all eternity . The way to stay Out of there is to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son of God..that He went to the cross in our place with our sins will be going and thst He will arise up again on the 3rd day.

Yes. There are those who do those things on a regular a regular basis / lifestyle which indicates the person's lack of salvation. When we're around people showing those characteristics in their lives , we need to share our concern for them in a caring concerned way and possibly lead them to salvation. Eternity will be too late.

maybe the lake will burn and brimstone, it is only meant figuratively... for those who remain in this world, in a carbon body... those will also be those who allow themselves to be marked with the mark of the beast

This doctrine wouldn't even exist if people had a Biblical view of man rather than a Platonic one.
