What is your favourite way to keep fit?

Hi,

I was wondering how my brothers and sisters out their keep themselves fit and the benefits that are derived from their favourite activities.

I have been inspired by the weightlifting thread to go out jogging tonight. The sun is shining so why not? :shade: I just jogged to the local park and back. The main benefit was that I killed two birds with one stone as my son rode next to me on his bike. While he played on the swings and climbing frame I collapsed and recovered enough to make the journey back home!

Let's just say I had no idea how fast my 5 year old could go on his bike!

I also do my badminton once a week at the Methodist church and when I am at work in the shop I'm up and down ladders and running back and forth to get things for people.

I plan to buy some inline skates soon and do some skating too. If I had a ski facility nearby I would love to do cross country skiing. I used to play ice-hockey until my early twenties (mainly to keep fit) so I figure how different could it be!!!

I'm always on the look out to try something new so it would be good to hear about peoples favourite or recommended fitness activities/sports etc. to help maintain the temple!

God Bless

Hi there,

I really enjoy working out at Curves (women only gym), walking, hiking in the woods and when it snows (we get a lot) snowshoeing is great fun for my husband and I.

Some times to "kill two birds with one stone" I try to really get into my house work - cleaning or running up and down the step while doing laundry and stuff. Yard work I've heard can also count as exercise, at least compared to just sitting still. ;)

I'm into the the FLY lady (have you heard of her?) FLY stand for Finally Love Yourself. It's not totally Christian but I read it with my Jesus glasses - so it works out good for me. Any way.... she talks about getting even 15 minutes a day of loving movement. And includes cleaning, yard work and so on... And in the past I don't think that I got even 15 min. loving movement every other day.... Curves has worked great for me as I go three times a week (really improved my strength and energy) and walk with friends and/or my hubby pretty much 3-4 times a week.

Have a great night. It's pouring down rain here on Sunday, so tomorrow I hope to get some good exercise in... One more thing for me was realizing what a gift it is from God to me to be in good enough health to do those activities. :)

Blessings,
Heather

I like to get on my treadmill with headphones and praise music. I like to get outdoors and walk when it isn't too hot outside. I do situps and push-ups on the living room floor, at least I used to, but I've been forgetting to do them lately. I try to mix a little jogging with some walking at least 3 X a week.

I never did learn to skate. Sometimes my daughter likes to go with me to the park and do her in-line skating while I walk or run. She tried to teach me to skate; it was a joke. I told her if people were meant to skate, they would have been born with wheels on the bottom of their feet.

My mother used to tell me stories of how she roller skated to school on the sidewalks. She said she liked to roller skate everywhere she went. I think the skating talent must have skipped a generation.

Hi,

I haven't heard of the Fly lady Truedawn but snowshoeing sounds fun. The only problem is we usually only get snow for a couple of days around Christmas time in these parts! So I think I may need to travel to the Scottish highlands to try that one out! We used to do a lot of country walks the public footpaths are numerous and very good, there is also a lot of disused railway lines that are great for going down on your bike.

Skating is a case of practice makes perfect, the best way to learn I think is with lots of padding on!!! Dreamer, see if you can borrow someones ice hockey protection and that way if you go flying you will have a soft landing! The main thing is to remain calm and confident otherwise your likely to go a cropper! I admire you though for doing the sit-ups, I think I might just be able to manage one! ...Nope, well maybe not...I think I need a bit more practice:embarasse!

God Bless

I like playing basketball and swimming with my friends.

I like to go for a run/jog and take long walks (5 days a week, every other day I alternate).

I love to geocache and tackle the physically difficult ones.Walking uphill as fast as I can and getting the heart pumping fast is a great feeling.
The legs sure have trouble keeping up sometimes lol.

Hi, I started a few months ago using the elliptical at the gym. I also sometimes use the treadmill and the stair step machines. I try to vary it up so I don't get too bored.

I am trying to use exercise to get my diabetes under control. So far, I have gone from using five shots a day to two.

Well, I hope this counts. I train not just to stay fit, but I am a professional armwrestler. I train 4 times a week, 2 general fitness workouts and 2 armwrestling workouts. I have been ranked 2nd in the nation in 2006 and have not lost a challange match in 9 years. I have been training since I was 14 years old. Just make it a life style, not a chore. That's the key.

Little profit

Hello,
I think exercise is best way to be fit. not very heavy exercise but little bit is ok. i think if we do regular exercise like jogging or walking in morning or some little bit at home so we will be fit.

thanks!!

I like playing basketball and swimming with my friends.

Hey, I like to play basketball, football, and soccer. I also liked to go to jr high by my home and use their track and do some laps. I also like to lift some weights.

I do Filipino martial arts regularly and shadow box. Sometimes, I and my son spar. But daily, I brisk walk and jog. I've been active like this since grade 6. As a result, by God's grace, my blood chemistry is always normal. Praise Him!

I'm a fitness expert and always tell folks to exercise regularly. I urge my disciples in the church God gave me to keep fit spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and financially. I believe in holistic health. That's how we can keep the temple of the Holy Spirit well.

Like sport.

I walk almost everyday. It reduces stress from life and work.

I find I sleep better at night after walking.

Also, lift weights for upper body fitness.

Diet, I find is also very important.

Very few people seem to walk these days, everyone drives.

I enjoy working out because I like how it makes me feel. I don't rely on it though to keep me fit and helthy though. I rely on Jesus' finished work to keep me healthy and strong. And that's why I partake of the Lord's Supper 4-5xs a day. Jesus gave us the Lord's Supper to stay healthy, strong and to live long. If you are depending on your own efforts through exercise to keep you healthy, then you are putting yourself under Law. And that mentality has no place in the Christian's life. If godless folks want to think thatw ay, then by all means because they have nothing to fight the efefcts of aging and the curse on this planet. So while I do exercise a great deal, its not exercise or supplements that I put my trust in to stay healthy. Unfortunately, many Christians think that the Lord's Supper is just a ritual when in fact its how you receive Jesus' life into your body.

Jesus Himself said:
John 6:48-58 (Amplified Bible)

48I am the Bread of Life [that gives life--the Living Bread].
49Your forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and [yet] they died.
50[But] this is the Bread that comes down from heaven, so that [any]one may eat of it and never die.
51I [Myself] am this Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever; and also the Bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh (body).
52Then the Jews angrily contended with one another, saying, How is He able to give us His flesh to eat?
53And Jesus said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you appropriate His life and the saving merit of His blood].
54He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has (possesses now) eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day.
55For My flesh is true and genuine food, and My blood is true and genuine drink.
56He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood dwells continually in Me, and I [in like manner dwell continually] in him.
57Just as the living Father sent Me and I live by (through, because of) the Father, even so whoever continues to feed on Me [whoever takes Me for his food and is nourished by Me] shall [in his turn] live through and because of Me. 58This is the Bread that came down from heaven. It is not like the manna which our forefathers ate, and yet died; he who takes this Bread for his food shall live forever.

And this entire passage in John 6 talks about the Lord's Supper. This is also the number one way that Christian's have overlooked to receive healing for their bodies. Never despise the things of God simply because they are free. It is just like God to comfound the mighty and wise with a piece of bread and a cup. Take advantage of what Jesus' paid such an incredible price to give you. The Israelites ate a roasted lamb on that first Passover and every Israelite left Egypt the following day supernaturally healed and with silver and gold. This is our covenant meal and way too many Christians are being cheated out of the awesome power of the Lord's Supper. Too many religious teachers have stolen this great truth from the church over the past 2000 years but its been rediscovered in the Last days. Hallelujah!

I go jogging/running 3 times a week (4-6 miles and light weight training after).

I go on long fitness walks 2 times a week (4 miles and Yoga/Pilates training after).

I workout 5 times a week (with Sunday's and Thursday's I take a break and rest).

But if the weather is too cold out or raining, I'll do my aerobics DVD or my Leslie Sansone 5 mile challenge (along with the weight training and Yoga/Pilates too).

Hello, Eve! Fitness is something that I enjoy although I look nothing like Lou Ferigno :D

What I have started doing these days is two things: I made myself two lists of five exercises each and alternate between the two of them. Think of it as a shortened Spartan workout.

The second thing is martial arts. It might surprise you to know that a few times practicing a form is very exhilarating. I am in the process of learning Wing Chun and some Tai Chi just for a little fyi.

Hope this helps. btw: you can do a youtube search for "indian club workout" or some equivalent to see a very interesting type of workout.

Hi all buddies here,
I do exercise's and have walk to keep me fit... I like to have natural organic one's diet in my mealing to keep me fit and healthy forever..... Avoid cheese and fast foods in my life.....

Other than rugby practice I do skateboarding, jogging, swimming, diving, kickboxing and surfing when the weather/waves are right.

I use to work out 5 days a week at a gym, I loved both cardio and weights. I don't have a membership anymore so I do various things to keep me active and I'm more particular about what I eat b/c what you eat plays the biggest role in staying fit. Also, I have an active pitbull that I take just about everywhere with me. We love the park and on cooler days jogging the trails. But I also enjoy running/jogging on my treadmill and doing work outs to Fit TV and On Demand. I also have the suzanne somers thighmaster, I read good reviews on it so I thought I'd try it and it does work if your consistant with it. I try to too do things as I watch TV so I'm not just sitting for too long, like sit ups, thighmaster, push ups, etc. I sit all day at my job pretty much so when I'm home I try not to sit too much.
