Why do protestants do catholic traditions?

I don't celebrate my birthday and haven't for years. It's not an achievement. No one actively did anything to obtain or keep it. It's pointless and a waste of money and time.

I'll bet you're not married and don't have children , either. Their birthdays and your anniversary. Are you an only child. . Do you celebrate or wish othér people happy birthday on their special day? Just curious.

I did not quote you.
Nothing in that is "insert your words here". You don't own the alphabet. That's not the topic anyway.

Don't you celebrate Your birthday on an annual basis? Why would it be any different with the birth of Jesus Christ. And there was the bright star if the east to show the wise men where the Christ child was. They brought Him gifts. We also celebrate birthdays with gifts.
To whom is your post directed?

Dear MedicBravo,
By including the post that you are responding to which you did in your #57. It's considered quoting.

I used the "Reply" arrow.
How is that "considered" a universal thing?
In fact, verbally, people will say "and quote" and written or typed is similar.
That's not the topic.
If responding to someone else's response is "automatically quoting them" that makes no sense.
How is one person supposed to know who is talking to who without typing out a novel?
I didn't see any rules about "Reply = quoting someone".

Dear @MedicBravo
To answer your question. Exactly as I've done here. You use the "@" sign and then their name, without a space between them. Normally a window will open after you start typing their name @MedicBravo . You'll know it's correct, because it will turn a color different then the rest, and reflect a link to that person.

I hope this helps. I know you're a bit new here. Sorry I never thought to mention it to you!
That is why using the reply is considered quoting the person.

Dear @MedicBravo
Also, if you highlight a part of another's post, a line or two. You'll have a white arrow in a black box show up on the bottom right of it. Click on that and it will be the same as a quote, but only the part you have highlighted of the entire post will be copied.

I hope this helps as well.

OH......
Different places....different spaces.
Derp on me then.
I'll try to stick that in my melon. Normally the "Reply" option is on most posts and responses so clicking that links that user or post.
I tend to do "insert typed or copy/pasted statement" when quoting someone.

@Sue D. Don't get all emotional.
That's my opinion not a fact. Your first statement shows it.
I'll give you the courtesy of answering. I was married (long story) and was deployed 27 months of the 7 years we were married as well as separated (she left) for over a year. The first time we celebrated the fact I came home alive and not in a box with a flag draped over it. No mention of an anniversary.
I don't have children with her thank goodness.
I have in total 4 brothers and 3 sisters from both parents divorcing and remarrying. I have nephews and a niece. Here we generally have few holidays which we do celebrate. As their parents make their decisions they can decide how they do those things.
No one is stopping you from doing it nor others from not doing it.

Wow that's a bit uncalled for.
Sounds like you're trying to justify your worldly celebrations that have nothing to do with Christ or with the day he was born for that matter.
Christmas is celebrated by the world, I don't celebrate my birthday either or christmas because I feel strongly led not to, not because I don't have any family or friends etc.

@LivingStone.--. Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. A person can make that at worldly as they choose to. A person Can make it a special family time by reading the section of Scripture that tells about it. How the birth came to be. That He came into this world to point us to His Father in heaven. To die on the cross for our sins and that He rose again on the third day Which is why we also celebrate Resurrection Sunday. A sunrise service.

@TheLivingStone I lost interest in most of them and saw no good use of time or money.
I've always liked Christmas for many reasons. In birthdays, if you are invited saying "No." somehow makes you the worst person and if "Yes" then you are obligated to spend your money on someone else. This world has become too materialistic. It's pointless even for kids.
If they aren't brainwashed by the idea that one must observe then and obligatory gift giving they'll grow up mindlessly repeating the same thing.
Pretty sure "lay up treasures in Heaven" do not include birthday presents nor the overpriced scam diamond most women wear.

The deception is rampant and that's a part of it I believe and feel led not to take part in it at all, but if that's what you believe, fair enough, no use debating it.

I believe they are among the reasons we are to be separate from the world. I'm strongly led to not take part in christmas and birthdays anymore, just exactly how I feel strongly about how we are deceived about almost everything in the world to lead us away from God.
I'm still relatively early in my walk but have lost interest in almost everything I used to love or enjoy.

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ Jesus,
Not choosing sides mind you, though some might thing so! ;)
Have any of you thought to take these celebrations as opportunities?
It's kind of like receiving junk mail. Do you just throw it away, or if they have return envelopes is it possible that they could be put to good use?

There are so many for us to evangelize, to get the Gospel out to those in need. It's not just mouth to ear so to speak, which surely is the preferred method. However, I know how challenging that can be! The enemy is quick to challenge one on their capabilities or lack thereof to actually do the task. In some cases, unless one allows the Spirit to take over you can find yourself out of depth when the opportunity arises!

Still, you shouldn't be without a way to still communicate the Word of God in a way that can be fruitful!
I mentioned return envelopes. Has anyone thought to put tracs inside of them? Sometimes churches will even provide them to you, so that it won't be a cost, and most of the time the envelopes themselves don't require stamps!!!

Now the same can be done, even though cost might be a consideration for some. Think of the need of that person or their family. I've given Bibles to people at work on their Birthday! For some it might be knowing they or their family are in need of clothes. Perfect opportunity to help them out without it affecting their pride (big one for men) which might be the case if done outside of these occasions!

So, whether you agree with these holidays/traditions or not look at them through a different lens. See a little clearer in what God has provided to you in this situation, and how you might increase the Kingdom of God!!! Planting seeds is great!!!

Because whether you celebrate these days or not, they will still go on in the World. They will still happen. So, maybe taking advantage of them to reach those who maybe only show up at church on these special occasions or other days to spread the Word, might make change a life from death to life! Try and make them useful.

Now for the joke!!!

In a small town there was a poor Christian old lady. She was always asking God to bring her groceries.
One day her not so Christian neighbor who used to hear her pray went out and secretly bought the lady groceries.
Hiding behind a bush so he could see her reaction.
The old Christian Lady saw the groceries at her door. She rejoiced and began jumping up and down praising God for them!!!
The neighbor who was fed up with all this Christian stuff, jumped out from behind some bushes and told the old lady that God did not bring her the groceries he did!
She looked at him and shouted even louder, saying thank-you God for bringing me the groceries and making the devil pay for them!!!

Have a blessed day my Brothers & Sisters!
With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Scripture informs us that oral traditions of men is a must as long as they do not do dispite fulness of grace . Christimas is not in violation and neither is Easter

However, scripture is silent with regard to anyone observing either one.
