Why does God send people to hell?

What about this? It says that people are literally "cast" (thrown) into the LOF.

Revelation 20:15
King James Version
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

What does the metaphor "lake of fire" represent?

Remember we are all working out the appointment death dying flesh returns to dust, the the temporal spirit returns to the Father of all spirit life . .

Yoked with Christ our daily sufferings can be lighter .

No retrial or double jeapordy. Can't build a faith on a upcoming trial .

I believe it represents a refining process. What do you believe it represents?
Thanks

Not a salvation issues

I beleive it represent the second death .The death of death along with its sufferings hell. The letter of the law .(thou shall not or you are dead)

The letter "death" will not rise up and condemn through corrupting's dying another whole creation.

Thanks

God and Heaven have rules.
Breaking those rules and one does NOT change and repent then one can NOT get into Heaven. Therefore the act of being "cast into the Lake of Fire" is that person's choice.
They've shown they value their sins more than God.
Their punishment is just and fair.

Its like this, God give us an allowance (not of money, but time and the ability to know whats right and wrong) and then lets us do what we want with that allowance, and tells us that following His advise will give us bonus allowance. Now the basic allowance is enough to last us for our time on this earth, but to get a ticket (a pearl of great price) to heaven, we need that bonus allowance. Now God explains this all to us, but some of us dont really want to listen to this and tone God out, and spend our allowance as quickly as we get it for fun in this world. Then when our time on this earth is done.... we either have enough to buy the pear of great price (a ticket to heaven), or we dont have enough and go to God's equivalent of the poor house (hell). God didnt just send us to hell, we made our choice of where we are going by either living for whats good and true, or living to please ourselves.

Good explanation.

Thanks for sharing.

My belief is that God does indeed give us time and space to be "lost" from him - for now. I believe that God sent the son to us to "find" the lost sheep and that God wants Jesus to find and save ALL people and that God's will WILL be accomplished.

I believe the LOF is punitive but that it's punitive for the purpose of restoration, not endless torture.

I believe that the ages will culminate with all who ever existed entering God's Kingdom.

Good explanation.
I thought you were against a works salvation. How is the following NOT a salvation by works?

...when our time on this earth is done.... we either have enough to buy the pear of great price (a ticket to heaven), or we dont have enough...
I am truly gobsmacked that anyone would teach that we BUY our way into heaven by how we use our time here.

What the Hey ??

That's extrapolating. I'll stick with the scriptures that some are "cast" into the LOF.
After death there are two destinations.
Heaven or Hell. Don't try to play word games.
God told us what to do and free will to obey or disobey with consequences of the latter.
Every person who disobeys, rejects God, and does not turn from their sins chooses Hell.

God's justice and judgment are righteous regardless of someone's feelings otherwise.

There's a difference between what the Catholics do and much are works vs the rest of us.

He is not explaining it in terms of actual money.
We get the same # of seconds every day until our time is up. We can "spend" that time however but given the Bible (our instruction book) we know what we should do but in our fallen nature tend NOT to do.

Mary deserves NOT extra special "worship/veneration/holy day/etc." than Jesus.
All prayer AND praise to Him only. Angels are servants as well and even Saints while have more merit than the rest of us are not be.

Works do not save. We do good works b/c we are saved.

Well... that's why I used the word "works" - it was a clear statement that what one does with his life on earth will impact directly on salvation.

Works do not save. We do good works b/c we are saved.
Then read again what had been posted:

... following His advice will give us bonus allowance ... to get a ticket (a pearl of great price) to heaven, we need that bonus allowance ... when our time on this earth is done.... we either have enough to buy the pear of great price (a ticket to heaven), or we don't have enough and go to God's equivalent of the poor house (hell).
This "bonus allowance" is needed for salvation, and it comes from "following His advice." That's a works-based salvation statement.

But of course you could never admit that you were wrong, eh?
