evidence for god

Fair enough however if we assume for a minute that constantine did have a part in putting the bible together then we can assume that the gospels were not in on it themselves and therefore could not choose to take parts out.
Do your homework and you will know that Constantine have nothing to do with the Bible. the Bible = 1st century, Constantine=4th century

Really? My searches tell me he commissioned the bible and was the one who allowed Christianity in the Roman Empire

I once tried reading the bible, cant excatly remember why i gave up but i suppose i can give it another shot. Which bible is the official one?

I apologize that this is a bit lengthy:

Look Zendra, I can't say what is the best thing to do from here but your "supposing you can give it another shot", I don't think will do.

I haven't even asked but , I think I have seen some refer to you as an Atheist. Whether you are or not, I don't look at you any differently. You are a product of the way you were taught or not taught and I respect that. I don't have any particular "ax to grind" except to help you find what I believe is the truth. I am 62 years old, been in and out of church, and raised my two sons up in a church for 30 years and I was only saved about 6 years ago. I have never been a "follow the crowd" or an easily excitable person. But with all the worldly treasures in my possession that I wanted ( family, wealth and friends), I found myself on empty and lacking something and I asked God to come into my life and "boy" did he ever!

Whether you personally label yourself an Atheist. Agnostic or what ever, I personally believe you are here at TJ's for a reason, that you find yourself at a cross-road and you are searching for more truth in your life. For example, I have seen some real die-hard Atheists before, and I don't see you spew the hardcore hatred for God and Jesus that they do.

So, here you are. You have to ask (yourself) why are you here? Why did you find this Jesus forum and what do YOU want.
Are you here to vehemently appose the authority of Jesus Christ and his teachings, I say no. I think God is actually calling you. If you are a complete Atheist, then I am wrong and probably nothing but God himself can change your view.

Don't take a "well I suppose" attitude. Take this opportunity to seek the truth for the first time. But, you have to do your work; God wants all of you are none of you! It's not really that difficult but don't expect this to happen over night but, that is left up to God.

Jesus has a very famous saying ( I am paraphrasing) :" I am the truth and the truth will set you free"; only until that happens to you will you understand it and it's is my heart felt prayer that you do.

A this point start with any Bible, not Mormon, not Jehova Witness but the Bible; KJV, NIV, RSV, NRSV and others. A good study Bible like the NIV Study Bible is good. I read and work with several Bible versions.

Here is one last suggestion: start with the New Testament, read and study all of it and only go back to the Old Testament when it is referenced to. After that you can go back to the Old Testament and read it in it's entirety. Otherwise, do as you are led. I would pay particular attention to what St. Paul says why Jesus was Crucified,Buried and Resurrected.

I am a friend Zendra and I am always here to help in your journey!

Here's a link that you might find helpful with at least some of your questions:

Ask Questions about Life and God

BTW, there is no official version of the Bible. I'd suggest an NIV (New International Version) Study Bible. Its an east read and the study notes therein might clarify some things for you.

I tried the link thanks, cant really comment on it yet. I suppose by official bible i meant one that includes all the books. I have a bible at home but it doesnt have those extra ones like timothy or job.

The first one is NO, the second one, almost YES!
Take your Authorized Version (KJV). It contains all books of the Bible.
Anyway the Bible is made up of 27 Books and 39 Books which equals 66 Books

Thanks.
In a side note does anyone else find the name "The Authorized Version" slightly funny?

Its my uderstanding that the "Authorized Version" designation for the King James Version is due to it being the first widely distributed printed Bible. It was published in England with the approval of the king who sat on the throne at the time and controlled such activities.
