Hell's Population Clock

I do agree with what you are saying about the majority going to hell.

But you have nothing to base you percentages on. How many is "many", how many is "a few".

There will be a great number in heaven also.

Rev 7:9; After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;

You might include the number of the saved as well. But again... exact statistics are hard to come by. :)
Especially if "no one could count" how many.

All of hades is "the fiery sector". All of sheol was not. Paradise was on one side and Hades was on the other side, separated by a deep chasm.

It's kind of like asking in a survey -- "are you a Christian" -- how many people are going to say 'no' -- except maybe some of the middle-eastern belief systems.

How many are going to say No -- I'm not saved. Because they probably Don't want to 'invite' a "sermon" by the person asking.

Gen 2:7 . . And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

The Hebrew word for "soul" is nephesh (neh'-fesh) which isn't unique to humans.

Nephesh shows up first in Gen 1:20-21 as sea creatures and winged creatures. Next it shows up in Gen 1:24 as terra creatures; viz: cattle, creepy crawlies, and wild beasts. Again in Gen 1:30 as every beast of the earth, and every fowl of the air, and everything that creepeth upon the earth. Again in Gen 2:7 as the human creature. Again in Gen 2:19-20 as the creatures to whom Adam gave names. Again in Gen 9:8-16 as all life aboard the ark, including Noah and his family.

Some say that animals are people too. Well . . they're certainly not human, but according to the Bible, they are very definitely just as much souls as humans. So I guess we could consent, at least to some degree, that critters are people too; in their own way.
_

How about -- either 'critters' are people or they aren't. Either I'm a person or I'm a chimp.

Can a chimp be led to the Lord?

I was just looking back at the 1st post -- the words 'Many' and "few'" are used. Those verses give no formula for figuring the stats.

so -- let's do what we can do -- on a personal level -- to share the Good News of the Gospel unto salvation with whomever we can. Without trying to force feed 'it' to anyone.

The pastor of the church I go to has been given a 'send-off' from the church as he returns to the mission field. They will be in various parts of Africa.

.
Mark 9:47-48 . . If your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out. It is better to enter the kingdom of God half blind than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell; where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out.

(The "hell" in that passage is a different Greek word than the "hell" of Luke 16:19-31. That one is haides (hah'-dace) which is an afterlife sphere where all the dead go; both the good dead and the bad dead regardless of age, race, color, gender or religious preference. This word here in Mark is geena (gheh'-en-nah) which is where only the bad dead will end up some day: likely the lake of brimstone depicted at Rev 20:11-15)

Anyway; Christ's instructions didn't reveal anything new. He simply reiterated information that had already been released by an Old Testament prophet roughly 700 years before.

Isa 66:22-24 . . From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me-- speaks the Lord. And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against Me: their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.

That rather ghastly scene depicts a sort of tourist attraction similar to the La Brea Tar Pits museum in Los Angeles where the remains of prehistoric creatures, excavated from ancient asphalt deposits, are on display.

A worm that thrives in flame is pretty amazing, but not unreasonable. The 4-inch Pompeii worm lives in sea water temperatures of 176° Fahrenheit; hot enough to kill salmonella and sanitize an egg. So I guess if God could create a worm like the Pompeii, it shouldn't be too difficult for Him to create worms that like it even warmer.

Q: The human body is organic. So then, how can it survive in flame as perpetual nourishment for those worms?

A: The laws of nature are not absolute. They were created in the first chapter of Genesis to control the behavior of created matter, and as such are easily manipulated by the one who designed them.

For example: fire totally incinerated the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah but left unscathed a desert shrub that Moses encountered in the Sinai outback while tending his father-in-law's sheep. (Ex 3:1-3)

Compare Dan 3:8-27 where a blistering hot fire didn't even so much as singe the clothing of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego while slaying the guards that threw them in the furnace.

Q: Won't the worms eventually exhaust their food supply?

A: There are incidents in the Bible where small amounts of food stuffs were miraculously multiplied. One example is 1Kgs 17:8-16 where a tiny bit of flour and oil nourished Elijah and a widow woman, and her son, for a good many days during a time of prolonged drought.

Another incident is at 2Kgs 4:1-7 where a certain widow's husband died and left her deeply in debt. God multiplied her last pot of oil sufficiently to sell enough to pay off her debts, thereby saving her two sons from slavery.

No; I'm pretty sure those worms won't need to worry about running out of human remains with which to sustain themselves.

@Adz -- I just looked up both the Greek words -- 1067 - Gehenna / A name for the place of / states of everlasting punishment and 86 - Haddes -- place of the departed souls.

My source is The New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible // Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries

Where do you get Your definitions

And in the New Testament where the 5,000 men were fed. 2 loaves of bread and 5 fish. or maybe the other way around. God stretched the little boys 'giving' so that it fed and fed and continued feeding the multitude of people and had left-overs.

And could you please respond to # 63. thank you. :)

Ecc 1:2-4 . . Meaningless! Futile! complains the Teacher. Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless. What does a man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

The earth is dumber than a spatula; yet easily outlives its human potentate whose IQ is infinitely greater. Take for example the great granite monuments in Yosemite Valley. Tourists to the valley come, and tourists to the valley go; and one day the grim reaper catches up with those tourists and they're gone; yet Yosemite's great stones abide decade after decade; century after century.

Most children born this day will be dead in 100 years; and Yosemite won't even notice. Though a child born today may be intelligent enough to eventually understand quantum mechanics and play classical guitar like Andrés Segovia; yet Yosemite's sentinels-- stupid, mute, and uneducated --will easily outlast it.

Ecc 2:15-16 . . I thought in my heart: The fate of the fool will overtake me also. What then do I gain by being intelligent? I said in my heart: This is meaningless. For the intelligent man, like the fool, will not be long remembered-- in days to come both will be forgotten. Like the fool, the intelligent man too must die.

Adziilii -- I'll refer you back to post # 63 -- that critters are people -- in their own way. In the aspect of being 'alive' --a breathing, living 'being' capable of reproducing it's 'kind' -- yes. Everything alive has that 'spark' of life in them.

But That does not put every animal / person alive on the same level. That sounds very ' evolutionary '.

You said that you seriously doubt that a chimp can be led to Christ. I agree -- but Why is that the case?

The forum has been down for a few days so no one has had access to it. :(

You said that you seriously doubt that a chimp can be led to Christ. I agree -- but Why is that the case?

Well; there's a couple of problems with chimps. The #1 problem would of course be the language barrier; and the #2 problem would be the heart-to-heart barrier; for example:

1Cor 2:11 . . For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

God and Man are two very different species, so to speak. My thoughts are the thoughts of an organic mind, while God's thoughts are the thoughts of a supernatural mind-- my thoughts are rooted in human nature while God's thoughts are rooted in divine nature. The difference between an organic nature and a supernatural nature is so great that it is impossible for me to relate to God on a heart-to-heart level without an add-on; i.e. an enhancement.

1Cor 2:12-13 . . Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

No doubt the creator is powerful enough to enable chimps to understand the gospel preached in English; but what would be the point? Christ didn't die to rescue beasts from the wrath of God, rather, he died for his fellow men.

The "parable" of the "sower" describes four different grounds in which The Word of God is sown. Only one brought forth fruit unto salvation, and all the others did not. One out of four could be used as a percentage to who would be saved, and who would not. That would make it 75% unsaved while 25% are saved. Ball park estimate! :)

Judas goats are trained for use in slaughterhouses and herd control. In stockyards, they lead sheep to slaughter; and are also used to lead other animals to specific pens and on to trucks. The term is a reference to the biblical traitor Judas Iscariot.

The phrase has also been used to describe goats utilized to locate feral goats targeted for eradication. They're usually outfitted with a transmitter, painted in red and then released. The goats then locate the remaining herds of feral goats, allowing hunters with tracking devices to find and exterminate them. The red paint marks the goat with the transmitter so the hunters know which one not to shoot.

You know what can be even worse than going to hell? Your own children following you there: and they trusted you.

Here's a sort of cute story I heard once. I don't know if it's true but I guess it's probable.

A farmer went out to the barn in the dead of night after a snowfall to sneak a pull from his liquor bottle. Just as he got to the barn door he heard something behind him. Turning, the farmer recognized his little boy coming towards him. In amazement he asked the little guy how he ever managed to find his way out to the barn in the dark. His son replied: It was easy; I walked in your footprints.

One can only imagine the anguish that parents in the netherworld must feel knowing that they inadvertently raised their children in an ideology that led them down the road to hell and all the while sincerely believing themselves doing the right thing. In other words: they actually Judas-goated their children to follow mom and dad down there. For some families, the only thing they have to look forward to in the afterlife is a sad reunion in fire and despair.

@ Curtis -- but why not have half be on good ground and the other half be divided up. (if a person Wants to talk strictly percentages) But those of us who see 'people' rather than numbers, heaven won't be full of numbers, but rather people.

Will our next door neighbor be in heaven ? Will our brother / sister/ wife/ co-worker be amongst those in heaven? That is what's important.

And the population of countries is estimated -- no one really knows -- people die every day and are born every day. They are all living souls.

@adz --- about your story -- and what about the father who goes to church faithfully -- reads his Bible and prays -- the son sees that and simply shakes his head and goes out the door and follows his friends down to the liquor store and gets drunk. And the father faithfully takes his son to church With him. But the son is really thinking about After church and going fishing and drinking with his buddies.

What saddens me is that you referred to your story as being 'cute' -- I'd call it very sad.

There Are parents who Do raise their kids in a warm, Christian environment but their kids go off on their own 'tangent' -- the kids 'endure' that warm , nurturing environment, but as soon as they can -- they are Out. You'd Think it would be the other way around. Raised in a rough environment, they are out at soon as possible. Maybe the kids in the rough environment are befriended by Christian kids from school / church. The 'rough' environment accepts Christ as Savior and is able to reach the parents with Gospel.

So -- the parent who snuck out to get his drink of whiskey -- somehow felt that the life he was leading with his drinking was being a Good influence on his kids. And in eternity, he can't figure out why his 'good intentions' with the drinking and all - - would end them all up in hell. So the 'sincere ideology' that drinking liquor is okay to do while sneaking around and leading your kids down the same road --- ended all of them in hell.

The Other reality they will find -- in hell -- is the total absence of God / total Darkness. And they probably Won't realize that they are all down there. They won't be very happy about Anything while in that lake of fire and brimstone. They won't die in the fire and the fire won't go out. Ever. And their ideology that a few drinks of whiskey here and there won't matter -- well -- it Did. And, Maybe, the guys wife had been trying to tell him -- for years that his drinking was a mistake -- and he refused to listen to her.

So -- a moral to this story -- NOW is the time to stop drinking -- even a couple of beers can be a problem -- NOW is the time to take God / His Word Seriously. That is true for Everyone.

God is God -- mankind is mankind -- animals are animals.

God created mankind and animals.

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God ---- created.

There's no 'so to speak' about it.

And what kind of 'enhancement' are you talking about? Okay -- your next sentence -- The Holy Spirit. A born-again believer does have the Holy Spirit abiding in him. That is in addition To the spirit of being a living person.

And, yes, there Would be a language barrier -- as would be the chirping of birds , barking of dogs, meowing of cats, etc.

Your last sentence -- why not say -- Christ died as the Son of God -- for mankind. Because Jesus Christ was Not dying for His fellow men. Because That would put Him on the same level as man and He's NOT.

Jesus Christ was here on earth -- as the Son of God -- not simply another religious teacher.

But those of us who see 'people' rather than numbers, heaven won't be full of numbers, but rather people.

If you have not noticed God is into "numbers". The number 7 refers to "completeness", The number "666" is the number of a man. Israel was walk around Jericho 7 times. The lepers to wash 7 times. the number 6 is usually refers to man, and on, and on.

Curtis -- okay -- you've mentioned 4 examples of numbers in Scripture -- what about 6 usually referring to man? Haven't heard of that one.

Actually the book of Numbers is taking the number of people included in the Children of Israel. A census of the people.

The People were to march around Jericho -- the lepers were told to wash -- "666" represents a Man. Jesus fed the 5,000 People with the boys lunch. The People needed food to eat.

Luke 16:25 . . Abraham said: Son, remember

I should think that one of the negative aspects of hell is memory. How people down there retain their memories sans the brain cells they left behind with their corpse, I don't know; but they do, just as the rich man in that story is able to experience thirst sans a flesh and blood tongue.

The older one gets, the more memories they accumulate, and many of those memories haunt us with terrible regret. However, people in hell not only have to cope with their bad memories, but also the good ones too, and I should think it's remembering the good things they enjoyed in life that makes their situation only worse in the heat.

If everybody was born and raised in hell; and never once ventured out; that would be the only life they've ever known, so they wouldn't have a clue what it's like to really live. For them the old maxim "Ignorance is bliss" would certainly hold true.

POP CLOCK UPDATE: 14 days have elapsed since beginning the thread. If the figures in post #1 are in the ball park, then something like 819,392 new arrivals have checked into the fiery sector of hades since Aug 11, 2018.

NOTE: Just think. In only fourteen days enough people have entered the fiery sector of hades to fully populate the city of Fort Worth Texas.

Here on earth we take God's creation for granted. He provides us with the light of day and the moon / stars as light for the night. Without God -- what do we have? Total darkness. What do we see in total darkness? Nothing. Sometimes in the dark, our eyes adjust to it and we Can see a bit because God is still 'there'. Have you ever been in a situation where you can't see your hand in front of your face? I have. It was a controlled situation for 30 seconds. No Thanks. We were told to be in contact with something close by us. Even holding onto something, the total darkness engulfed a person. No fun. No thanks.

Maybe one of the memories we'll retain is all the times friends / loved ones had shared the Gospel unto salvation with us and we refused to accept. Maybe we laughed at them. Or scorned them. And 'now' we realize that they were trying to save us from 'this'. But now we're Stuck with THIS. We Don't Like 'this'. We want OUT. But there is No OUT. There Had been a choice back during our life time. But NOT NOW.

And Maybe we'll be hearing satan laughing at us. He might be saying to us 'you idiot -- you believed my lies instead of God's Truth. IDIOT.

And we probably Will be hearing all kinds of people moaning, crying out, in horrible pain -- just like we are.

So -- how much longer is your POP CLOCK UPDATE going to keep on popping. Until the entire state of Texas is populated?
