Homosexual Pastors?

Now granted, the response of the congregation was not at all acceptable, so too was your judgement of that pastor. Me personally, I have no problem with homosexuality. I mean, its their life, and let them live how they want to live. And besides, isn't God condemning homosexuality hypocritical to Jesus' message? And wouldn't that possibly make Jesus a hypocrite since he is God in flesh? Just thinking out loud here. Besides, as Christians, we are called to love and not to hate. Everybody is welcome to Jesus' table, no matter who or what they are. Maybe there should be a revival among Christians to be more loving and accepting, instead of hateful and judging.

God/Jesus have no problem with loving. Even men loving men. We are told to love one another.
I love my father, (he is passed away), I love my sons, I love other men in my church. I think this is what God wants us to do.

Love is NOT sex. Even in heterosexual relationships, love is not sex. God is pretty picky about who you sleep with.
There are dozens of verses about fornication, adultery, homosexuality, being effeminate, rape, incest, beastiality, sexual immorality, even sleeping with those of different religious beliefs. None of these have anything to do with love.

Who told you this?
Does God really love everyone unconditionally?
It's phrase you hear alot, but is it in the Bible?

Mal 1:2 "I have loved you," says the LORD. But you say, "How have You loved us?" "Was not Esau Jacob's brother?" declares the LORD. "Yet I have loved Jacob;
Mal 1:3 but I have hated Esau, and I have made his mountains a desolation and appointed his inheritance for the jackals of the wilderness."

Rom 9:13 Just as it is written, "JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED."

Pro 6:16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
Pro 6:17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,
Pro 6:19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Even the "loving God" hates somethings and some people.

Heb 12:15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;
Heb 12:16 that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.
Heb 12:17 For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears.

Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
Mat 7:22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
Mat 7:23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

Rom 1:32
Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

1 Cor 5:12 Do you not judge those who are inside?

1 Cor 6:3 "Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!

Matt 7:5: You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Isn't it hypocritical to call God an all loving God because he hates a life style just because it is different? I myself have no problem with people living this life style because it does no harm to them or the community.

Nah... being hypocritical is like pretending to be something ur not... like if I am against homosexuality but I am homosexual myself.. that is hypocrisy...pretend one thing say or do another. God just hates homosexual lifestyle because it is against his purpose for mankind in creating male and female and he wanted them to have babies to spread over the earth and conquer it. Homosexuality doesn't really do anything towards this goal of God, so He doesn't like it.

To be fairGod did say it was a detestable action prior to it being a life style. Do you think he likes the life style of fornicators? Spiritually, homosexuality is a damaging life style. Living in habitual sin is not good.

1 Peter 2:
11Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Ephesians 4:
22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Rom 1:21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
Rom 1:26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,
Rom 1:27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
Rom 1:28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
Rom 1:32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only those who practice these things, but also if you give hearty approval to those who practice them.

1 Cor 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,

1 Tim 1:9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers
1 Tim 1:10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,

Lev 18:22 'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination. (which means God hates this)
Lev 20:13 'If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.

Gen 19:5 and the men called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them."
Gen 19:6 But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him,
Gen 19:7 and said, "Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly.

Gen 19:24 Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven,

Why must you all be so judge full on people? Can't you guys just love them unconditionally and accept that people are going to live that way? I challange all of you to just accept these people for whom they are. I have.

Bestrfcplayer,
I want to state clearly that I DO NOT HATE homosexuals or any other sinner for that matter. I try to love everyone the way that Jesus does. So often when we take a position that opposes the staus quo, we Christians are accused of hating whomever is standing on the other side of the issue, and that is simply unfair. I DO NOT HATE, I simply can not teach others that committing a homosexual act is in accordance with the Word of God. I DO NOT HATE, I can only teach those who are my brothers and sisters in Christ that the Lord has judged it a sin to commit a homosexual act. I DO NOT HATE, but rather teach others that to be forgiven of their sins they must be washed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. My brother, you do not have the authority to declare what it sin and what is not. God alone has that authority.

bestrfcplayer, Jesus was asked if few people are going to Heaven. Jesus replied that MANY will seek to enter into Heaven, but only a few will be allowed.

John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
There is only one way to Heaven and that is through trusting Jesus Christ. Anyone who acknowledges their guilt of sin and comes to God the Father through God the Son for forgiveness will be saved...

Question for you:
In your lifetime, there are few moments when you’re given the opportunity to directly save another person’s life.-Bryan Mealer, HuffPo

Would you save them from hell bestrfcplayer? Or would you pass them by thinking that if you did so, it would be 'judgmental', and 'hateful'.

I know you are not hating, but you are judging, and IIRC, Jesus said not to judge any one. What I'm saying is, why did God have to be so judge full in hate towards homosexuals? Couldn't he have just loved them and called them his children instead?

Why stop at homosexuals? Sin isn't listed by levels.

The Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 4:13). -gotquestions.org

So all sins are the same? So then by that logic, a small lie would be as big of a sin as killing thousands of people? To me, that doesn't make any sense. Shouldn't a person be able to believe in Christ and be a homosexual and not (or have) sexual acts with a person of the same sex?

For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. James 2:10
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Jesus' grace does not give us a license to sin.

Well, I know that. But shouldn't the Bible adapt to modern times? Maybe back then in ancient Israel, the people thought homosexuality was sin and a destructive lifestyle, but today, things have changed. And besides, Jesus never talked about homosexuality, and would have accepted gays if they came to him back then, and he would accept them if he were alive today.

Bestrfcplayer,
A person can believe in Christ and not honor him. Even the demons believe, and shudder. And yes, a person who is born with homosexual leanings can live a life of victory in Christ by defeating his/her desire to commit sexual acts with a person of the same sex. But that does not seem to be the core of your problem. It seems to me from reading your posts that you doubt the very rightness and wisdom of God. And I will state once again: It is not I who has judged the comission of a homosexual act to be a sin. God Almighty has judged this Himself.

It seems the problem that you have here is that you are trying to edit the Bible and dilute it to fit your opinions of what is right and wrong, instead of shifting your views to fit with the Bible. You can't be selective in your interpretation and application of the biblical text.

Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

But isn't that circular reasoning? And besides, people have twisted the Bible since its inception to fit their views. Some good, some bad.

Cant you see that in your stance, you are judging as well?! Judgement is in itself not evil, its the standards by which you judge that may or may not be evil. Why is it that you pick and chose certain parts of scripture, to try and make your point, and ignore the others that speak against the topic? Take scripture as a whole, not piece meal as it pleases you. And as someone else said, Love is always good, but sexual pleasure is NOT Love, and you demean Love to equate it so.

But isn't that circular reasoning? And besides, people have twisted the Bible since its inception to fit their views. Some good, some bad.

What part of that was circular reasoning?
Yes, people have twisted the Bible all throughout history. Did Jesus not rebuke the Pharisees for this very thing?
Your argument is equivalent to this:
Murder has been around since the inception of people, so let us continue this tradition.
Deceit has been around let us keep that alive.

Just because something has been done traditionally or non-traditionally does not make it right.

2 Timothy 4:3
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
